So you don't think that if you're buying flights for 100 people, Southwest isn't going to cut you a serious deal? Or they might just charter a plane, which would still be cheaper. Boise St. isn't just going to log onto Southwest and buy 100 individual tickets. Not unless they're total morons.

Exactly. I work for the government and when I fly for official business we don't get our tickets off the airlines website. We go through a travel website/agent that does it for us. It's also cheaper. I'm sure colleges have a similar system.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
LOL, I just saw on the bottom line on ESPN2 that WVU and Louisville are the top candidates for the Big 12 if Missouri takes accepts an offer from the BIG EAST.
Unfortunate typo!Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
That still gives the Big 12 only 11 schools. Who's the 12th? Is it BYU?Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
And did what did you select for the date? Because I'm seeing about $400 round trip if I select next September. Colleges probably think ahead, and don't try to buy tickets for their sports teams the weekend before the game. So even flying commercially with no special deals, that's still just $43,000. And if they're paying near that amount, I'd be shocked.Comment

Southwest marks up plenty or they wouldn't be in business.

Well the little app thing on the front of their website didn't let me select next September, lol. And you're still not counting food, hotel, ground travel, etc.Last edited by lonewolf371; 10-18-2011, 08:37 AM.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

Of course Southwest marks up, silly. I said they do it less. Or, I should say their planes are newer, need repairs less often, and they have a better organizational infrastructure, so their operating costs tend to be lower.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Yeah, but the money won't be huge (not like joining the Big Ten, Pac-12, or SEC), partly due to travel costs and partly due to the fact that it's the Big East, and you're ignoring how the Big East would still be dominated politically by those East Coast basketball schools. That's what caused everyone to bolt for the ACC and that's what's going to cause this mess to break up as well.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)

Big East $5 million
MWC $1.3 million
WAC $0.45 million
Big East TV contract ends in 2013 and they are hoping to get between $19-$23 million per school. They turned down $11 million per school from ESPN.
I would say that offsets travel expenses for like 5 road games a year for Boise.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
UofL board of regents is meeting at noon, supposedly.
Also, Arkansas' AD stated that no schools would be added to the SEC that are already in SEC states, so perhaps that means that FSU is out if the SEC plans to expand to 16 teams.Comment
