Some of the comments I'm still reading are crazy. I understand exactly how a dog lover behaves. I used to live with one. Some if not most dog lovers would put their dog above anything and anybody. Just as a family would put thier rent up to bail their kid out of jail, a dog owner would do the same to pay for a dogs surgery if he got ill. I admire the compassion but I personally dont think like that and I've owned and loved many an animal. Does it make me cruel because I would rather put a humans life above a animals? I hope not but thats how some are making it seem. Some of these same people would blow a possoms brain out with a bb gun if they found it rummaging through their garbage though.....

I wouldn't do it to him, but I wouldn't mind if someone else did. When I think about the last time those poor animals looked up at him or one of his cohorts with the trusting look that dogs and cats give their masters and the next thing that happened to them was getting drowned or getting electrocuted, it makes me really mad and I hope paypack in some form comes for Mr. Vick and all his thugs who helped out with the business. Is that wrong of me? Probably, but Michael Vick is the scum of the earth in my mind. It makes me feel really good that he's gonna be in the same place as rapists, murderers, terror suspects and others who have committed crimes because he's almost as bad as they are as far as I'm concerned.

Humans domesticated dogs and cats ages ago and made them a promise. We'd do no harm to them and we'd take care of them. Michael Vick and his band of thugs broke the same promise that has been made to domesticated animals for hundreds of years. It breaks my heart for those poor dogs and it breaks my heart even more that Pit Bulls didn't start out this way. Pits started out just like every other dog breed and have been bred to be fighters and mean. I have friends who have Pits that are among the most gentle animals I've ever seen.

I'll also add for the folks that have brought up chickens, cows, etc that if you do a little research about the brands you see in the supermarket, you'll notice that some chicken and beef and pork providers are bad, but some practice humane euthanasia on their chickens cows and pigs. When I eat meat (which I rarely do anymore), I always make sure to pick up the brands that practice humane euthanasia on their livestock and stay away from those providers who have been proven to be cruel to the livestock.

I'm sure that some of you think I'm crazy about animals, and you're right. I love my pets and would do most anything for them. My wife and I for the past 9 years have volunteered at the local shelters, went to spay-neuter clinics for feral cats and feral dogs, and I always keep two or three bags of extra food for any ferals that are outside my house. What's the reason I do it? Because of the promise that I made years ago to take care of them and to do them no harm. I just wish Michael Vick would have respected those two promises.

I sympathize with you, however if the individual has learned his lesson (we're not talking about Vick now) would you feel the same way. There are people out in this world who do worst things like murder, rape and kill innocent people. Yet in there, theres also the small percentage of those that understand what they've done was wrong and fall into the grieving process. I know its a very small amount of people that after realize what they've done and try to change their path; should those be still be condemned even though they may have become enlightened individuals?

Our society talks about second chances, and there are some individuals who do deserve a second chance. I know Michael Vick did something pretty horrific, but he grew up in a society of which it wasn't looked down upon, a society that of which enjoyed this brutal sport. Should we lock him up and throw away the keys because he didn't know any better? I'm not trying to give him excuses because i think the time he has to spend in prison is just for the crime, however i feel bad that once he comes out of this; he won't be looked as the same person for better or for worst. His imagine is tainted and theres nothing he could do or say to apologize for his actions.

Dude 2 years for Killing some stupid dogs? who cares about dogs or cats or animals at all? I set up a fight between a cat and a lobster, guess who lost? the cat so i beat the **** outta him. Animals are overrated. Vick is a human being why take away his life for a stupid dog. They are no even in danger of extinction...

Damn If aliens where watching us they would think Dogs are the master and we the slave, cuz we just keep cleaning everywhere they crap.

I don't know if this is the worst post in OS' history or the best post.

That about sums it up. The man that is serving the sentence has no problem with his punishment. I think he got what he deserved. I hope he comes out a better father and becomes productive part of the community.

I don't agree with what Vick did and I also don't approve of how he handled the situation. With that being sad, those close to the Atlanta community knows Vick helped a ton of inner city youth, not to mention sponsor tons of fund raisers and donations...His heart isn't misplaced he made a bad mistake and now he is paying for it. He should take this time to reflect on not what he has done in the past but the man he should become in the future.

Okay, let's put this in perspective. Micheal Vick killed dogs and got sentenced to 23 months in jail...

In fort worth, this guy robbed this lady, beat her to within an inch of her life (she was in a coma for 4 months), and got 10 months. So this guy, who almost killed an innocent woman, and malciously attempted to take a HUMAN LIFE, will spend less time in jail than Vick does...how many human lives did Vick endanger...

I know that example is not good enough for you...so let me give you another...

Leonard little, a defensive linemen for the rams (i think he still plays for them), killed a lady in a drunk driving accident (blood alcohol level 0,19). This woman left behind a husband and a son. His punishment? 60 days in jail and 1000 hours of community service. Do to his good deeds, HE HAD THE INVOLUNATARY MANSLAUGHTER CHARGED DROPPED FROM HIS RECORD, SO NOW HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THE FACT THAT HE GOT DRUNK AND KILLED ANOTHER HUMAN BEING ON HIS RECORD ANYMORE... To top it off he has been arrested for drunk driving twice since then. Rams fans still cheer him on the field...

Vick kills dogs = 23 months...

Beat a woman within an inch of her life and put her in a coma = 10 months

Get drunk and kill another human being, ruining there family = 60 days...
