I already did. Guy can get his hands on as much weed as he wants, but he can't get his hands on prescription drugs without raising a red flag? Doubtful.

Again you find those ways of ridding himself of underperforming animals as acceptable?

If there isn't a better path would that make more sense? Because honestly there really isn't. For people like you (and me) that would never be able to train dogs to be killers, anything else that comes along with it would be beyond our scope. I don't think someone could hand me a machine gun and drop me behind the front lines either but I'm sure I could be conditioned to deal with it... this is learned behavior.

I feel like I need to say this after every post but that doesn't make it right by any means, or even less messed up. But the cause, which is breeding and training, is a lot more understandable than the end result which is inevitable. When I look at the people involved that's how I judge them.

take that off of my list. THey certainly arent in the same category as Pits, Rots, and Chows.
Rots are also very loyal and like shepherds, are one of the smartest breeds of dogs. They shouldn't be on your list either. I'd guess the other two shouldn't either but I don't know as much about them but all dogs used to fight are chosen for their body and potential, not their nature. They are beaten down, made to have brain damage and many other things to make them killers.

I say the same thing I said to BK. If people generally don't think it's that bad then they just don't know enough about it or, like Vick, have been exposed to it as a profitable business enough to be desensitized to how disgusting all that's involved is. But I think for the most part, people in this thread don't think it's that bad to understand the level some are going to in attacking Vick.

The horror movie is a great example, actually. Imagine if Saw came out when Friday the 13th was released. One, the theaters wouldn't have even shown it but if you saw it you probably would've been scarred. At this point in your life and this time in society, you've seen enough to be able to deal with Saw. Most haven't gone through the same with dog fighting... until the media plastered pictures all over the place after every Vick piece. The question is whether it's better to be ignorant or numb? It goes beyond dog fighting too (of course). People are getting shot in churches these days. There actually was a time when that would be unheard of. To some that's not even surprising.

Honestly, throw em out there if you can think of em. If there were I'd completely understand people harping on these events but I don't see any alternative. Actually I have seen the one alternative and that's to let the losers run free... stray pits, ripped up from fighting, starving, trained to kill and roaming the streets... that's just not a pretty sight.

            Already did.

The let them run free one, does nothing but put innocent humans and their pets in danger.

Believe it or not, the neighborhood dope man doesn't typically carry solutions used to put down animals on deck. There's a surprisingly small recreational market for a sedative used to put down animals.

yea your right man. Good point.

Pitbulls are pretty much in a league of their own imo. There is a reason why pits are the dog of choice for that type of training.

And Mike Vick has the resources to not have to rely on the neighborhood dope man.

You keep bringing up the human vs. animal argument(irrelevant) and now you are trying to bring in how a human would fare in the safari?
BUT...by your "superior species" argument......I guess rats and insects are superior to us...since we cannot kill them off and it's been duly noted by many a scientist that those would be the only species to survive a cataclysmic event.

If you read back, I've been trying to deter this human vs animal argument but it just keeps popping up. I even said apples to oranges with humans and dogs but some insist that humans and dogs are on some type of even plane.

Lets not lose focus here and let me restate my stance:

-I'm all for Vick recieving jail time
-I dont think he should of gotten such a long sentence.
-Why you ask? Because I feel that dogs are an inferior species and there are far more serious things as a human race, we as americans, we as citizens need to worry about than locking up some athlete who funded a dog fighting ring.......

Very true. Tough alternatives I guess. THey have to be put down somehow.

My whole animals vs. humans tangent was because some people questioned a humans value vs. a dog's value. Animals are animals in my eyes. Others have questioned why Vick's sentence was so long or why he even got sentenced in the first place because, after all, it's just a dog. My point was that because he and his cronies breed the animals to fight and kill, gave the dogs no quality of life, killed and tortured them, and generally made animals kill for sport when it serves NO necessity, that is why he deserved what he did. Just because they were dogs makes it no less of a crime.
