Re: NFL Off Topic
In what world has Prescott been playing anywhere near the level of Romo pre-injury? I don't see how Romo doesn't get the reins when he's back from injury, and if he plays as well as he was pre-injury, Dallas will likely be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Prescott has played relatively well, but Romo was an MVP candidate in 2014.
Of course, there's the issue that Romo might never play anywhere near the level he did pre-injury again, but you have to give him a shot, I think.
The problem here is that Romo might be the better individual player, but Prescott has proven he can be the best QB for the Cowboys this year so far. With his success, the offense's success, and the team's success all together, pulling him from the starting spot just feels wrong. This isn't even a journeyman suddenly clicking like the Bears had with McCown a couple seasons ago.
I think Romo is a great QB, and I'm sure he can come back and if he stays healthy put up good numbers and the Cowboys probably will still be good. But why force him in? What Dallas has now is working, and working well. Worst case you've got a wild card off the bench to stabilize things if Dak's play goes south and also allow Romo to really, fully heal.
You throw Romo back in, he gets hurt again? Ineffective? Then you've just created unnecessary drama. With Prescott, if he struggles for a stretch, boom, he's benched and Romo is in and no one can say a word.
I see a lot more to lose with less to gain with Romo being forced back in then with riding Prescott.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

How can you say Prescott has proven he can be the best QB for the team this year when Romo hasn't played yet this year?
I think you have it backwards. If they put Romo in and he gets injured or struggles, well now you know you have a viable alternative.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
So much for Davis having a change of heart
Raiders owner Mark Davis does not have the necessary approval from his fellow NFL owners to move his team to Las Vegas. But he seems confident that move is happening.
After the Nevada Assembly voted to spend $750 million to build a new football stadium in Las Vegas, the Raiders released a statement from Davis referring to Nevada as the team’s new home.
“I would like to thank Governor Sandoval, the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee, and the members of the Nevada Legislature on this historic day,” Davis said. “All parties have worked extremely hard to develop and approve this tremendous stadium project that will serve as a proud new home for the entire Raider Nation.”
NFL rules say a team can’t move without the approval of three-fourths of the other teams. Davis’s statement suggests either that he’s already been assured that his fellow owners will approve his move, or that he’s going to move whether he gets the approval of his fellow owners or not.
Davis’s father, Al Davis, went to court to win the right to move the Raiders from Oakland to Los Angeles in 1982, against the wishes of his fellow owners. Davis sounds ready to follow in his father’s footsteps and move his team where he wants, whether or not he gets the NFL’s permission.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
He hasn't ever exactly hidden his intentions. This all happened when it did to allow the Raiders the ~2 months it takes to properly prepare for the relocation proposal.
They haven't even decided on the site yet (the two in contention are nearly adjacent, pending FAA, land acquisition and other infrastructure.
Owners meeting next week, we'll get more of an idea if anyone's trying to pump the brakes.Comment

Is Las Vegas really a football town though? Just seems like a money grab to me i.e. Rams.Comment

LB Quentin Groves, 2nd round pick for the Jags in 2008 dead at the age of 32. Heart attack.

"Quentin was an outstanding man, on and off the field," former teammate Marcedes Lewis said in a statement released by the Jaguars. "He made everyone around him better and always had a smile on his face. He pushed every day in practice and was a fierce competitor. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend two seasons with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family on this incredibly sad day."

I know we had this discussion before but I still am in favor of one thread housing all the games versus it being separate.
Just my personal opinion.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
