Good, they need to just get rid of it.

Understading that I am in the vast, vast minority, I kind of like the pro-bowl. I wouldn't say I love it and I don't exactly schedule my weekend around it, but if it is on, and I am sitting at home on a cold Sunday night in January, I'll watch parts of it. It helps me through the football withdrawal now that the season is almost done. It's a solid detox program.

I heard a pretty interesting idea while listening to CBS Sports radio overnight (BTW my radio station picked this up and meh, the overnight hosts are terrible though i'm sure their daytime content is much better) that the game should be rookies vs sophomores or maybe move the Senior Bowl to Hawaii and have it in that timeslot and have current players coaching the game.

I dunno...Anything is better than the crap we get fed every year.

I watched an hour of it last night during the second quarter because I had nothing else going on at the time, but I wouldn't make my schedule around it. I guess it's better than nothing, but not by much.

The numbers have been decreasing every year. This year, it did a 3.3, less than 10 million people, and almost a full point lower than last year's 4.2 (over 12 million).

That's still a really good number for a game we're complaining about as being unwatchable. How does that compare to the baseball or basketball all star games (2 that I think are more watchable from start to finish)? Anyone know?

They were talking about something similar during the Lakers game yesterday. They suggested getting rid of the coaches in the All-Star Game, and having the players run the game themselves since they pretty much already do. I thought that it would be interesting to see the Pro Bowl done the same way. Just have the offense be run by the QB (since they never run the ball anyway) and let the players have fun. It wouldn't be any different than it already is, and that way you wouldn't have a cannibalized coaching staff running the game.

Last year, NBA got a 5.4 (down from a 13!!!), and MLB got a 6.8 (down from a 6.9).

For comparison, the Pats/Ravens got a 29.1 and the 49ers/Falcons got a 33.4.

Thanks. I wouldn't ever compare any of these games to playoff games... that's just not even fair.

So the number is about what I'd expect. I could see a little higher but wouldn't think it'd be above either of those two all star games. I don't think there's anything the NFL can do to pull higher numbers than NBA and MLB, and the fact that the SB itself destroys anything, they really just shouldn't care.

Get rid of it, replace it with skills competitions, keep it as is... the NFL is just fine (unfortunately for us looking for something worth watching).

The Pro bowl is here to stay and in Hawaii. Why, its not about viewership, exciting play, or anyone caring. It is about the players getting a free trip to Hawaii, getting their ego stroked all week, and getting paid for showing up. Nothing else matters and the players have made it known they will not accept anywhere but Hawaii.

Nothing else matters and the players have made it known they will not accept anywhere but Hawaii.

Most players don't even want to go. The trip is "free" for the players not their families and many of them bring a teammate along who helped them get there.
