Re: NFL Off Topic
In all my years of watching the Falcons on TV, I've finally decided to take a trip to ATL to attend my first NFL game... I'm looking to go some time in December (looking at the SF game). Do you guys have any tips on where to stay, where to eat, etc.? I've never been to an NFL game and am getting cabin fever here in CT so I really want to take a trip out there. Thanks!Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I watched a lot of Penn State games and your pending argument doesn't look so hot.
I'll wait though.Last edited by kehlis; 10-19-2016, 11:02 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Well why can't you tell me what you don't like about the guy? That's basically what I was asking. All I'm saying is that Geno has been in the league since 2013 so we have seen the best of him so you may as well give someone else a shot.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Brett Kollman of BattleRedBlog posted a thorough YouTube scouting report of Christian Hackenburg in the pre-draft build-up which was one of the more favorable and detailed reports I saw for Hack. Unfortunately the video is now private as far as I can tell, but I'll relay what I remember.
Basically he felt like Hackenburg possessed a lot of traits which translate well to the NFL, among them: a strong arm, great pre-snap intelligence and ability to check in and out of plays based on looks he recognizes from the defense in film study (he effusively praised Hackenburg's ability to play the pre-snap mental chess games a quarterback partakes in with the defense), poise in the face of pressure, and unwillingness to fold while playing in uphill battles for a middling Penn State team.
The big weakness he was from Hackenburg was inconsistent and lazy footwork, particularly in the shotgun. Kollman felt that bad habits with his feet led to much of Hackenburg's issues with passing inaccuracy under James Franklin, who ran shotgun much more frequently than Bill O'Brien did. Kollman did mention that Hack's feet were notably better when operating from under center, so it wasn't that he couldn't do it per se, but rather something mentally about operating in shotgun was making him lackadaisical.
Ultimately he felt that Hackenburg had first-round talent but would need a strong quarterback coach to drill footwork back into him to succeed in the NFL, as to correct the passing accuracy issues which he got (rightfully) hammered for in the mainstream pre-draft media. Do the Jets have a quarterback whisperer on staff to help make this happen? We'll see.Last edited by Hooe; 10-20-2016, 03:05 AM.Comment

Doesn't go through progressions well at all.
Very sloppy footwork, throws off his back foot more often than not (not always his fault)
Forces passes that should never be made to receivers that aren't open.
Doesn't check down when he should.
Not very well versed in making changes at the line of scrimmage (due to the offense he ran)
Lacks consistent deep ball accuracy.
Basically, he would need a solid surrounding cast to have a chance to be successful. As Cm Hooe pointed out, it's very possible to coach him into being a successful NFL player, but at this point he will need much more than a year and is not near as ready as Geno at this point.
So now it's your turn, what about him makes you think he would be better than Geno?Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Did the NFL/Giants not have this information available to them when they suspended him a game? If they did not, was it for good reason (no way to obtain it, part of investigstion) or did they not try? It seems as though the paper got it from a FOIA request.
This is just disheartening and disturbing to read man. I was beaten down by all the nonsense OBJ talk and come to find out that was happening while this guy is on the team, unbelievable. Talk about misplaced priorities.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
