Sounds like Cutler didn't even want to talk to Bowlen while he was pouting..

      And another take

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels was part of a conference call Monday with disgruntled quarterback Jay Cutler.

According to an NFL source, the call left the quarterback believing that if the Broncos find the right deal, he will be traded between now and the NFL draft that begins on April 25.

Cutler was in Nashville when the call was placed. He was accompanied on the call by his agent Bus Cook. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and general manager Brian Xanders also were part of the call.

Cutler has been irked since learning McDaniels tried to trade him to Tampa Bay nearly two weeks ago in a proposed deal that would have brought New England quarterback Matt Cassel.

McDaniels said he merely received calls on Cutler from other teams and announced through a team spokesman last week that Cutler would not be traded. Period. And the statement added McDaniels and Cutler would meet this week, after Cutler returns from Nashville.

According to the source, Cutler entered the conference call believing any friction between the two parties would be resolved and the two sides would put the controversy behind them. Instead McDaniels told Cutler no one is untradeable and that the quarterback was expected to report for the team's offseason conditioning program that begins Monday.

According to the source, Cutler has not yet decided whether he will report Monday.

Im as big a fan of Cutler as anyone, but he is acting so immature about this situation.

On the other hand though, it seems as if McDaniels is almost looking for a reason to get rid of him. I don't think this relationship will work out for too long if it keeps going like this.

This is all assuming these reports are accurate.

I want to have a more involved running game, but I still want, and think we will be a pass heavy team.

I was waiting all season for Cutler and Marshall to unleash the "deep ball" game. I heard they worked real hard together in the offseason to get the timing down.

                    I never really saw it.

Having a consistent running game would have helped Cutler and Marshall. I'm just hoping we have an efficient running game this time around, even if it comes from shotgun draws lol.

The one thing that's been pointed with Marshall, he has issues getting space when he gets pressed on the line; due to his lengthy build. I think they should have him spend some extra time on press/man to man (like Al Harris). But it wont be on the field for some time with his looming suspension.

Leach signed with the Cardinals the other day. Paxton better not miss a snap here, Leach was a 10 out of 10 LS.

Latest mock draft: McShay and Kiper have us taking Tyson Jackson out of LSU.

Not sure how Maualuga fell farther than Andre Smith after the combine.

LOL. The long snapper carosel with the Cardinals, Patriots, and Broncos. Don't see that too often.

                            Good read

In his career, in regular-season games in which the opposing team scored 30 points or more, his record is 6-22.

                            His name? Peyton Manning.

Not even Manning, a three-time MVP, could save the Colts when his defense was atrocious.

In his career, in regular-season games in which the opposing teams scored 30 points or more, his record was 6-31.

                            John Elway.

Not even Elway, who finished as the greatest comeback quarterback in NFL history, could save the Broncos when his defense was awful. In two separate seasons, the Broncos allowed 30 points or more five times when Elway played. They lost all 10 games.

                            Trade Jay? No way.

Give him a defense, and Jay Cutler will be one of the premier quarterbacks for a long time in the NFL. Any coach, columnist, commentator or football cynic who suggests otherwise doesn't get it.

In his career, in regular-season games in which opposing teams have scored 30 points or more, Cutler's record, when playing two full quarters or more, is 3-12.

In the past two seasons, no quarterback could have saved the Broncos with the defense they put on the field. Not Manning, not Elway, not Cutler.

When he has played more than a half, and the Broncos have permitted fewer than 30 points, Cutler's record is 14-7.

Attacked by a bunch of clowns, Cutler has gone for the juggler.

                            I don't blame him.

Nobody contemplated trading Manning, Elway, Tom Brady, Troy Aikman or Joe Montana early in their careers, and look what happened to them. The Atlanta Falcons traded Brett Favre after his first year, and look what happened. The Tampa Bay Bucs traded Steve Young after his second NFL season, and look what happened.

Don't let it happen. Trade Jay, and the deal will bite the Broncos in the business end for years to come.

Elway didn't win a playoff game until his fourth season, Manning his sixth. Cutler will be in his fourth season in 2009.

Just imagine if the Broncos had an average defense, not the worst in the league, last season and a healthy, 1,500-yard-type starting running back, instead of eight different (and indifferent) running backs. The Broncos would have been in the playoffs, and Cutler would have been heralded as an emerging star.

As it is, he still made the Pro Bowl and, despite the Broncos' failures, must be considered one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league.

Who would you rather have? The two Mannings, Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Kurt Warner and Donovan McNabb? Maybe most on that list, but not all.

                            Matt Cassel?

The Patriots won 11 games, but they didn't make the playoffs, either. The Patriots beat two playoff teams: Miami (a split) and Arizona, (which didn't show up in the next- to-last game). The Broncos beat two playoff teams: San Diego (a split), and Atlanta on the road.

Cassel had a better quarterback rating (89.4-86.0), fewer interceptions (11-18), a higher completion percentage (.634-.623) and more rushing yards (270-200), but Cutler had more completions (384-327), more passing yards (4,526-3,693), a higher yards-per-attempt average (7.3-7.2) and more touchdown passes (25-21).

                            Cutler is a year younger.

Cassel was not a trade (up) for the Broncos.

No quarterback available among the free-agent rejects, backups and aging veterans is worthy of signing. Nobody available among the starting quarterbacks is worthy of a trade. Nobody available among the college quarterbacks who will be on the

Cutler is the quarterback of the past three seasons, and should be the quarterback of the next 10 seasons.

Honestly, I don't think it's a good article at all. It starts with this quote:

Give him a defense, and Jay Cutler will be one of the premier quarterbacks for a long time in the NFL. Any coach, columnist, commentator or football cynic who suggests otherwise doesn't get it.
That's just a horrible, horrible quote based on a horrible correlation. He's basically suggesting that SINCE Manning and Elway couldn't win without a defense then OF COURSE Cutler will be a premier QB with one. Well can't we say the same about Kitna, Thigpen, every other QB who also sucked without a defense?

I get the point he's trying to make here but he does a horrible job trying to make it. In addition, I don't think anyone suggests that Cutler sucks. I don't think anyone put the Broncos bad season on his shoulders either. I don't know if I'd call him a top 10 QB right now but nobody questions his skill. There have been hints that his maturity level needs some work along with his leadership, and the recent events not only supported that but made it seem like it's worse than most thought before. For all his comparisons, nobody ever questioned Manning's leadership or maturity... Elway, Young, etc.

All things created equal (in a video game world) I think it'd be crazy for them to trade Cutler too. From what I know of the real world, I still don't think it's a good idea, but I can at least see the issues that might make it more plausable than on Madden. Cutler had a fit when they fired Shannahan, almost to the point where it sounded like he wanted to be traded because of it. That doesn't put the new GM/coach in a good place to begin with. And whether the team just fielded trade offers or threw some feelers out themselves, his reaction to it all is unacceptable. Any trade talks are related to these things, not his skills.

Somebody mentioned Jeff George in reference to the situation. Nobody can deny that George had skills and wasn't a mental midget like Leaf, but his ego and lack of leadership got him traded around and eventually out of the league early. I hope Cutler isn't as bad as George... hasn't seemed to be so far, but he's acting like a huge baby and any article discussing the thought of trading him needs to consider that.
