Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread

So reading up on Bridgewater, I like the kid a lot. He definitely has his head on straight and the video of him buying his mom the car was just awesome. This article quote really made me like the guy,
"The beauty of Bridgewater is that he comes into the NFL with a clear sense of who he is and what he needs to do. When the Vikings traded up to draft him with the last pick in the first round, he didn't use that moment as a chance to say he'd make the 31 teams that passed on him regret that slight. He said he was blessed to be in the NFL. He saw this for what it was: the road he'd been given to travel on his own journey through professional football.

The reports coming out of Minnesota following his first rookie minicamp only reaffirm that invaluable maturity. Bridgewater impressed head coach Mike Zimmer with his early feel for the playbook, leadership skills and preparation. Bridgewater actually looked so good that Zimmer promised him some first-team reps once the Vikings veterans start participating in OTAs. You hate to make comparisons, but these are the things Russell Wilson did when he was just an eager third-round pick trying to gain the faith of the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. Two years later, he was a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and a two-time Pro Bowler."
The quotes are from this article which I thought was a great read: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...johnny-manziel

He didnt want to go to Cleveland at all as well which I found funny. It was the only team he had a little bit of a problem going to.

Then Sports Nation has this poll out:
Which of these quarterbacks will have the best rookie season?

    15%
    Blake Bortles
    18%
    Johnny Manziel
    67%
    Teddy Bridgewater

Let's get this thread back up and running. Which player do you think will make the biggest jump from last year?

I think what Zimmer will do with Xavier Rhodes will be something special.

Ooh, good call on Rhodes... He's going to be good... Everson Griffin is my pick to make a big jump...

It's going to be intriguing to see what EG does now that he's a main man. I'm really expecting Zimmer's influence to really invigorate this team, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm pulling for Harrison Smith. He did really well under Frazier/Williams, how can he do in Zimmer's system?

By the end of this year, I'm hoping he's considered a top 10 safety in the league

If he can stay healthy, it's a lock in my opinion. He can do it all.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread

I was looking at tickets for Vikings games this upcoming year. I've only been to a couple and they've been pretty much the worst seats in the dome but any seat in the lower level runs you over $100. Is this typical? Can I get a better price closer to the games maybe? I was hoping for $70-$80 for a lower level seat along the sidelines.

As for my opinions on the season upcoming, we got a projected #1 overall pick (until one bad workout which I think is ridiculous) in the late 2nd round which was an absolute steal. We finally have an offense that will run more than 10 plays and a defense that isn't stuck in the outdated Cover 2 scheme. Captain Munnerlyn might be the most underrated acquisition we've had recently. A dynamic TE in an offensive that loves to use TE's. Adrian Peterson. Patteron will finally be used more than a couple of plays per game.

I'm still worried about our linebackers and cornerbacks in 3 or 4 CB packages which may end up costing us.

Vegas odds have us as the 2nd worst chance of winning the Super Bowl which is definitely not true. I would be more than willing to put $100 on this team to win at 180-1 odds.

Well Frazier has been experimenting with 3 safety sets and putting safeties in man to man coverage. We will see how it plays out.

Yeah, lol. Bad habit. Anyway anyone watch the game. From what I am reading the Vikings moved the ball pretty well and Cassel looked pretty good.

The first quarter could not have been any better for both offense and defense. Cassel shredded Oakland's D. Cordarrelle had some really nice catches while being covered tightly. Teddy had some was up and down, but showed some athleticism out of the pocket. Defense overall had a really good day. It was nice to see our DB's actually make plays on the ball lol.

Watched most of the game on Friday. I think Cassel should start the year. As much as I want Bridgewater to play, I think it will be so beneficial for him to sit the year with a clipboard and take notes.

I think we are definitely going to see an improvement. I love that we're moving away from Frazier's defense. I hated the "rush four, drop seven" mentality seemingly every single play.

Patterson is on the verge of becoming a star.

I think we're going to put up some points this year, with Norv able to sit in the booth and just focus on the offense.

Predicting 8-8 or 9-7 this year.

Anyone listen to Fanline on KFAN after the game? There was a guy (I hope he was doing a bit) who goes: "Why is everyone giving up on Ponder??? Remember the Green Bay game?"

I feel like the Turner offense is a perfect fit for Cassel's abilities. Excited about how the offense is playing without Peterson. Hopefully Turner doesn't get too run heavy just because he has Peterson. A balance would be nice to maybe extend the career of Peterson a few extra years.
