Should be a fun one in Cincy this weekend! My two favorite teams! I'll be in the stadium to see it live. May the best team win!

Posted this in Draft thread but:

Im so torn on what I want the Vikings to take, personally they could do a lot of things. Do they trade up and try to grab maybe Bridgewater or another QB, do they pursue Clowney for our aging Dline or do they trade down and focus on Defense and grab a QB in the second or third rounds. Maybe McCarron or someone else?

Not taking a QB until the 7th round; bold strategy, cotton.

I think they'll draft a QB somewhere in the first 3 rounds just from a PR standpoint alone.

He would probably go in the first two rounds, but he got hurt so I expect him to fall far. I just think we have plenty of other holes to fill in the first few rounds before reaching for a quarterback.

I'm seeing people (Tarkenton) pushing for us to draft Manziel. I just don't think there's a reason for us to reach for a quarterback in the first round, unless we trade back. I like Manziel, I think he's going to be a good quarterback but I don't want us using the 8th pick on one.

We NEED to hit on this QB.

I'm assuming Murray tore up his knee? Not saying there aren't other holes on the team, but I'd be a little nervous resting the weight of the franchise on an injured knee.

Honestly I don't know what they should do on the QB issue, I would love Johnny, but I want a veteran maybe even cassel to start. I just hate the thought of wasting Peterson's prime. And with Johnny they would have to alter the playbook in a sense to compliment his skills he can run so let's let that happen. The kid is a great competitor so I want him for that basically I want him, but a year to learn unless he is awesome in preseason

If we would have had a better secondary this year, we would have most likely tied or won the division. I get so sick of people blaming it on the quarterback position, and the quarterback position alone. the quarterback position was far from our primary issue this year, and that's not going to change going into next season unless we make a big move in the Draft and free agency by drafting another #1 corner and picking someone like T.J. Ward in free agency. If we pick up T.J. Ward, we can draft a quarterback in the second or third, but again.. it's not our primary issue.

Strong Safety, Cornerback, our defensive line holes that are coming up due to free agency, Guard. If we had better guards, our problems on offense would most likely disappear.

I say since we'd be playing outside for two years and their ain't a franchise changing QB in this draft so build up the defense and interior offensive line

While I 100% disagree that there isn't a franchise changing quarterback in the draft, I obviously agree that defense and the interior line need to be built up.

If we had finished in the top 4-5 picks in the draft, I would be clamoring for a QB taken with our first pick. However, at pick #8, it seems to me that we could be "stuck" with a QB like Carr or possibly Bortles. Teddy and Manziel are sure to be gone at that point in my estimation so why use a pick on a QB that we aren't fully confident in being a franchise QB?

We did this with Ponder and it backfired. So our best bet is to wait drafting a QB this year and use Cassel as our primary QB, if he so chooses to use his option.

                              That's just it.

At the 8 spot, there's no quarterback taking worth it IMO, at least if the draft plays out the way it's expected to. Bridgewater will 100% be gone and it's likely a 90% chance in a percentage that I made up the Manziel will be gone before the #5 pick.

A quarterback is not going to solve our problems right now, though, especially at that spot.

It is not Christian Ponder/Matt Cassell/Josh Freeman's fault that we gave up the MOST points in the NFL.

It is not Christian Ponder/Matt Cassell/Josh Freeman's fault that we gave up the SECOND most passing yards in the NFL.

It is not Christian Ponder/Matt Cassell/Josh Freeman's fault that we gave up the SECOND most yards in the NFL.

Could Ponder have played better in the beginning of the season? Absolutely. But even with his faults, if the defense would have even played average, we would probably have won the division. Unfortunately, we didn't heavily involve Xavier Rhodes until later in the season and Harrison Smith was battling injuries. I think it's obvious the team has a bright future with guys like Adrian Peterson and Cordarelle Patterson on offense. Obviously Rhodes and Patterson didn't show the coaching staff enough in the beginning of the year for them to feel the need to play them. If they continue to play like they did at the start of next season as they did this season, we will absolutely challenge for the division next year.

Totally agree, Bob. The defense played a little better down the stretch, but overall it was a horrendous effort for the most part. Zimmer will turn it around, if hired and I could see him wanting to make a splash in the draft with our 8th pick. I wouldn't be mad with Khalil Mack at #8.
