Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

It looks like we're resigning Cassell, which is great news. He did well last year, Peterson wanted him back and I believe he's the type of quarterback that is built to excel in Turners offense.
That said, we're still drafting a quarterback at some point, even if we were to sign Vick as well.--

I don't believe Mack will be around at #8. Barr will be, but I'm down on him. A couple of red flags have been popping up around him. I'd love to either get Justin Gilbert/Aaron Donald or trade back and get Darqueze Dennard later in the 1st. Our secondary would be lethal if we drafted JG or DD along with signing Verner.Comment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
For me, I believe we must address our second CB spot, DT, OG and SS. Right now, those are our biggest holes IMO (This is me also praying we resign Everson Griffen).
It seems as though we'll be doing everything we can to bring in a DE in Free Agency (Michael Johnson possibly). Whenever it comes to the guard spot, I really want us to end up with Cyril Richardson or Gabe Jackson. While Fusco played well, I'd like to see a little more out of him. The left guard spot is an absolutely must to improve, though.
I can't remember the last time I've felt that there was a SS in the Draft that could make an immediate impact for us. I would have liked Cyprien for us but for Patterson seems to be a future star in the league, Xavier Rhodes turned into the shutdown corner he was projected to be once we pulled our heads out of our asses and played him in man... but the jury is still out there for Floyd. I wouldn't change that first round at all.
I was a big Ray Ray Armstrong supporter before he got kicked off the Miami team.Last edited by bigbob; 03-09-2014, 11:31 AM.--

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
So, this is currently what we're looking at as a starting lineup in 2014.
QB Matt Cassell
HB Adrian Peterson
FB Jerome Felton
WR Greg Jennings
WR Cordarelle Patterson
TE Kyle Rudolph
LT Matt Kalil
LG Charlie Johnson
C John Sullivan
RG Brandon Fusco
RT Phil Loadholt
LE Brian Robison
DT Linval Joseph
DT Shariff Floyd
RE Everson Griffen
LOLB Chad Greenway
MLB Audie Cole
ROLB Gerald Hodges
CB Xavier Rhodes
FS Harrison Smith
SS Jamarca Sanford
CB Captain Munnerlyn
Looking at that lineup, I think it's obvious that Guard is our biggest hole on our team. Fortunately, we should be able to grab a starter after the first day of the draft (Gabe Jackson, Cyril Richardson etc). Strong Safety and Cornerback are two positions I think we should continue to look at as well. Munn shoulld be a good slot cover corner, but I'd still like to see us go after someone like Justin Gilbert early, or Keith McGill or Stanley Jean-Baptiste late.--

My favorite prospect in this draft overall is OLB Kyle Van Noy from BYU. he is exactly what this team has needed forever. A starting OLB opposite of Greenway.
There's a good chance Van Noy falls to the second, and id love to take CB Kyle Fuller in the first.
as for QB, my favorite guy is Aaron Murray out of Georgia.
Seriously though guys, watch some game tape of Fuller and VAN NOY. You wont be disappointed.Comment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
Because it's not our biggest need. Our defensive tackles weren't great last year and that's where games are won. It also doesn't help that we haven't had a decent secondary since Winfield - Sharper - Smith - Griffin.
A cornerback across from Rhodes and a strong safety next to Smith when he's healthy were our obvious needs last year. With Joseph in the middle this year and Griffen - Robison manning the edges, it'll show that linebacker isn't as week as people think.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
So what do you all think of that draft? I'm super pleased with snatching Bridgewater from the Texans and Barr could be a real nice player. Admittedly I don't know quite as much about him as I do for others. But from my understanding experts either think boom or bust.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I'm iffy on the Barr pick. I would have preferred a corner or even Donald because I'm not sold on Floyd just yet. I personally wanted us to move back into the teens, just just one spot to the Browns.
Bridgewater is the best quarterback in the draft by far. If we ended up with one, he was the one I wanted and we technically only have up a 4th round pick for a future star in the league.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I love Spielman's strategy of trading back up into the first round!
We've had SEVEN first round picks in the last 3 years.
2012: Kalil, Smith
2013: Floyd, Rhodes, Patterson
2014: Barr, Bridgewater
That's a lot of young talent added to the roster in 3 years. Maybe throw in a late round steal, that's how you build a winner. I really hope Bridgewater succeeds here, because obviously if he doesn't Spielman will get the axe. I just love the way he drafts and puts the team together.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I didn't like our second day at all. The fact that we passed on Gabe Jackson infuriates me and I was not a fan of taking a running back with our last pick.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I'm surprised we haven't gotten a MLB yet.. Is Brinkley really the starter? Was hoping for Boreland from Wisconsin but we took the kid from Oregon St instead... As far as McKinnon goes, don't know much about him. I preferred Archer from Kent St or Andre Williams from Boston College... If Brock Vereen is still available, he'd be the guy to get today.Last edited by eskimos44; 05-10-2014, 09:25 AM.Check out my blog for NCAA 14 Sliders and steps to doing a long term Dynasty.Comment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I think it was a pretty good draft day, I wanted McKinnon from the day I saw his combine I know numbers don't mean you'll be amazing, however he had a great 40 and did 30 reps on the bench press, I'll take it. Loved getting Teddy right before Day 2. Barr could be great, any time you get athleticism like that there is a lot of potential. kind of wish we would of gotten CB earlier however, but the depth is there. What does everyone think of the 2nd round pick Crichton? Don't know much about him myself.Cal is turning more guys into millionaires than wall-street.
