Some of our undrafted free agents we picked up have potential too. One I like is Darius Eubanks. His name even sounds like he should be a beast! Lol!

    Is it football season yet!??

Anyone catch PA's "walking interviews" at camp? I'm not a huge fan of his show, but the interviews have made me chuckle.

When he's teaching Bersich and Leber how to do them: "YOU HAVE TO KEEP WALKING WITH THEM! If they stop it's considered an interview and we could get in trouble!" .. haha

Just podcast his show from kfan.com. I believe they were doing them in the 10 o'clock hour this morning with Ben Leber.

I see you're in WV (forgive me if you're originally from MN and already know this, lol). If you ever want to listen to some decent Vikings talk radio, Paul Allen is on KFAN from 9-12, he does live shows on site whenever the Vikes go to camp. Either catch it on iheartradio or podcast it directly from their website.

Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of his show, he can be too "rah rah" and corny for me at times, but he frequently has good guests on. And especially this time of year (Training camp, and the Twins sucking) he's pretty much all Vikes all the time.

Thanks, I'm from WV. I'm a Vikings fan because of my dad. He was a big Robert Smith fan. Before that he was a Chris Carter fan.

What I posted in Prediction thread:

Good discussions here but about the Vikings. Man oh man, for me it could go wither way this year.

I mean with as much talent the Vikes got on this team they got to do pretty good....Right?......RIGHT?

Offense: We got Jennings, Rudolph, Patterson and Wright. Even finally converted Webb into a WR to throw him in there and mix it up hopefully. Not to mention you have Adrian in your backfield to take pressure off you. Its all about if we get the Ponder from the first 6 weeks last year who was up among the other QB's or the Ponder from the middle of the year who stunk it up.

Defense: With Winfield gone it really hurts however to replace him with Rhodes (A almost exact copy of Winfield) doesnt. Hopefully he can grasp the system easier and be that tackling/zone machine that winfield was. Our Dline also excites me. With Robinson and Allen on the outside and Floyed and Williams in the middle we should be pretty good when it comes down to it. Chad Greenway also has been up there among top linebackers and is the anchor for out Linebackers. Hopefully the others will step up. Harrison Smith had a very good rookie season at FS and Raymond didnt play horrible. (Wish Winfield could have worked out a contract nogotiation and played the SS position)

Overall it mainly comes down to Ponder. Will the pressure make him a diamond or with he crumble into dust.

Ugh why isnt it week 1 yet. Im so freaking excited about this year.

Don't fall into the trap fellas...I've been down this road every year for the past 30+...we get lured in and our hopes raised...just to have them crash down on us...it never ends well and never will...

                      With that being said...

                      This is the year!!!

Really interested to see if Ponder can take the next step and become a serviceable QB. I really still believe in the guy; I don't think he'll ever be a true franchise QB, but I think he can be decent, and that's all we need. At times I've felt like the only person in the state who still wanted him at the helm, but this is the year for him. If he doesn't improve this season we need to cut ties and move on in our never ending search for a franchise QB.

I absolutely love PA and his show. He's definitely one of the cockiest most annoying people there are but for some reason I like listening to him. Now that he's starting to understand hockey it's made him that much better.

I don't know why but I'm extremely pumped for this season. I haven't been this excited for a season since 09 just because ESPN and every other sports station has kind of ruined football for me the past couple years. It seems like it's always being talked about no matter what time of year it is. This year though I'm really excited for some reason.

That video above was absolutely awesome.

I agree completely, he's only about to start his 3rd season...and really hasn't had much WR help to speak of, yet people are ready to crucify him. Peyton Manning was no stud his first season or two...he went 3-13 in his rookie campaign if I'm not mistaken. I'm not saying Ponder will turn into Peyton Manning, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. Ponder improved 10+ points in his QB rating from his rookie season...it's not like he's going backwards. If he doesn't make a considerable step this year, and really grab the bull by the horns I'm fine with considering other options. The offense has improved at the WR position, and of course AP will be AP...so realistically there is no reason to not give him a chance this year and see if he can really turn the corner.

If not, so be it, we will move on...but too many people expecting Superbowl rings 2 years into a rebuilding project is annoying.

Flat out agree. What I hate is that people bash Ponder because he isn't living up to his 1st round draft status. People need to understand that he was taken way earlier in the draft then expected and he's more of a project then a guy who would immediately have success. Ponder didn't draft himself, Spielman and the other scouts did. Ponder works his butt off so it's not like he's some lazy guy who doesn't care. If Ponder ends up not working out then haters should look at who drafted him and not Ponder himself. Ponder never really looked like a QB in college that would be great in the NFL. Who knows maybe it will happen. I just hope he can be solid. He's got some targets now and he's obviously got the games best RB. If he doesn't vastly improve this year then the Vikes need to look somewhere else, but with all the unfair criticism he gets I hope he shuts everyone up.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread

I think the biggest thing he needs to improve on is the long ball. That can be such a threat for us. We should be punishing teams for the way they stack the box against AP. If Ponder (with his new WR help) can establish the deep ball and make the safeties even show him a sliver of respect, we will be in good shape.

At least the nice thing about Ponder is that we know he's capable of making passes. Not like the days of Tarvaris sailing an out route 5 feet above the WR's head or at his feet.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Our guy can, too.
