Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
They also say he's "not that athletic", which is bull****.
He's considered to have very, very good hands and will burn safeties over the top, as well as being a good route runner,
My honest opinion will just turn into an argument, and possible breaking of the TOS, so again. I don't want to get into why I think he's not considered a top receiver in the class whenever he's clearly performed as one.--

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
Media may not pay Swope much attention, but I'm sure the GMs and NFL scouts know what it is.
We all know why he isn't getting the attention so it goes without saying. I don't like the comparisons I've seen to Wes Welker or Amendola, though. LOL really? For me hes kinda like a faster Hines Ward.Comment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
Here some of weakness from a couple sites
From Bleacher Report
Weaknesses
He's not going to make many tacklers miss after the catch and he doesn't quite play up to his timed speed. Breaks in routes and moves in the open field are not very sudden or explosive.
In general, Swope is not much of a threat after the catch and his profile is more possession receiver than playmaker despite his blazing 40 time.
Tools
Beyond his 4.34 40, Swope's 6'0", 205-pound frame is also an asset considering his home role as a slot receiver. He also posted a 37" vertical and 6.76 three-cone time, but Swope doesn't exhibit that kind of explosiveness or quickness on film.
His speed is apparent when he leaves safeties in the dust, but he has more build-up speed than instant acceleration.
From NFL.com
Weaknesses
Does not play at his timed speed in terms of consistently running away from defensive backs. Doesn't have the elite athleticism on the field to elude NFL-caliber defenders in space, and his strength is not enough to run through pro linebackers and defensive backs in the second level.
NFL Comparison
Jordan Shipley
Bottom Line
After becoming a favorite target of Ryan Tannehill's at A&M due to his ability to take advantage of broken plays, Swope continued his trend as one of the Aggies' top receiving options in 2012. The former running back put up great numbers at the combine, including a 4.34 40-yard dash, but he does not consistently play at that speed. In fact, Swope's quick footwork when breaking off routes is his best asset. A team looking for a slot option in the late second or third day could target the Texas A&M product, since that is where he posted his best workComment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I don't know what to think about where this team is.
10-6 last year and a playoff spot. How much of that because of Adrian's historic year? Can Ponder take the next step and become a viable option at QB? Secondary will be a question again.
I just feel like we're teetering on the edge, and could fall either way, into a good team or into a bad team.
I think getting an impact player, who can make a difference this year, in the draft will be key, whichever position(s) they decide to go with.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Wow feel like we're going all in, I like the aggressiveness but not sure if I like giving up that many picks. I do think they were all solid picks specially Xavier he's a physical corner.Cal is turning more guys into millionaires than wall-street.

Anyone else as happy as I with the draft so far? I can wait to see the defense of line in action.
Pressure makes Diamonds but also makes dust so let's see what he becomes.Last edited by Candyman5; 04-26-2013, 12:43 AM.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Spielman's first round picks: Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Christian Ponder, Matt Kalil, Harrison Smith. The others were traded for Jared Allen.
That's a hell of a resume. Let's hope these 3 add to that impressive listUniversity of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I think, as long as he can stay healthy, Mauti will be starting for us in a couple of years.
With Cris Carter's son being signed, rumors are Cris Carter is going to come in and work with our receivers. So, hopefully, a lot of it sticks with Patterson. Along with Patterson, I'd like for him to put some time in with Wright and Webb as well.
The only pick I was hoping may have went a little different (minus the Locke pick, which I think most will say that), was the Dawkins pick. Not because I don't think he won't fit in, I just really wanted Kwame Geathers.
I'd give us a A in the Draft.--

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
Michael Mauti could be a steal if he can be healthy all year. He was late 1st to 2nd round talent I think, but his leadership and work ethic is what I like most about him.Comment

Re: Minnesota Vikings Official Team Thread
I was definitely shocked to see that Mauti was there in the 7th round! I personally think he is a solid pick there, I thought he would be gone by the 5th round before the draft. Also not a fan of getting a punter in the 5th round but that's just me looks like Kluwe is on his way out then.Cal is turning more guys into millionaires than wall-street.
