Man, golf is such a great game. I was feeling really good about my game and my swing, and I went to a challenging par 70 course. Its called fairway hills, and man the hills part was right. So many of my 2nd shots were with the ball above of below my feet, and I struggled with those lies. It was good practice and I defiantly play there again, as not only is it a "short" course but it is tight, and I liked the challenges it offered. Only hit driver twice the whole round as I was trying to put my ball in good spots.

Nice to hear you played the course the right way, man. Those kind of courses are definitely a joy to play.

It's starting to get painfully hot here in Kansas. I got an early tee time of 7:30 with my dad - but I could see him easily cancelling due to the heat (he is still recovering from 2 years of shingles).

Which course? Jefferson, by chance? They have a nice 9 hole course there that I played a few times.

Try the front 9 at Maplewood sometime, on Maple Valley Highway. Great course, beautiful.

There was a lot of rain, around here in the afternoon, but it cleared so I took a chance and ran to do a quick 9. With no warm-up it took me about three holes to get right, but after that I was striking the ball real well. On the last 6 holes I was GIR on 5, (hit a 7 iron on a par 3 and flew the green) and managed to shoot no worse than bogey, with one birdie and some nice pars.

Yea we tried to get a round in around noon but way to much spotty rain in the forecast. Will probably try tomorrow but it looks like possible storms in our area for the foreseeable future.

Interbay. I'll be hitting the Jefferson 9 hole on Tuesday, though. I'll try to check out the Maplewood course at some point. Thanks!

I've noticed a great deal of improvement in the last 2 weeks. I'm still not scoring as well as I'd like, but I hit way less shanks/popups/etc. than I did. I still have some problems on the tee box and I'm still slicing my driver like crazy and I'm struggling with my hybrids. No idea why my swing doesn't translate to those clubs.

Has anyone seen the new Callaway mack daddy 2 wedges?

They are some nice looking clubs. Going to have to resist the temptation to buy them lol.

                    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

So my summer of the golf ball test has come to a close, and the winner for me for now is the Bridgestone E6. I like the ball, and it has given me lots of confidence standing on the tee box. The reason I say that its my ball "for now" is two fold. First, while I really like the ball the only area it lacks for me is spinning with my wedges. With the Z-star and the NXT-Tour I could spin the ball with my wedges. Not so much with the E6, but for now I can live with that. Second, there was a buy three dozen deal where I got a $20 off my next purchase, so I am good on balls for the rest of the summer/fall.

I have yet to play the e6 but I really like the e5. Reading about it the e5 has more spin than the e6 which I like. I can usually hit the ball pretty straight so this ball works great for me, and it is a reasonable priced ball.

Just curious as to what your handicap is? I am a 5 and am also in the process of trying to find a golf ball. I am currently using the Titleist Pro V one ball but only because I was given two dozen as a Christmas gift. I would like to find a ball that doesn't cost me 40+ dollars every time but yet does what I need it to do. Has anyone tried the Wilson FG ball?

I am about a 15 handicap now. Never had it done, but I use online services, brought it down about 10 stokes this spring summer. Ball wise for what you are looking for and wanting to save a few bucks I would try the Titlest NXT Tour, maybe the bridgestone e5 as it is a two piece ball, but you can spin it. Maybe grab a dozen AAAAA balls from lost golf ball. That is what I did to get the E6 cheep when I was first testing them.

On another not, I got drunk at the Nats game, those seat behind home give you FREE food and drink, and tired to jump a fence and sprained my knee. Will probably be OOC for two weeks, which sucks because I was starting to feel like I could play my best rounds coming up, my confidence and ball striking are really good right now. So that sucked.

Just finished a round at my local par 62 course. Shot a 73.... my putting is KILLING me. Only had a single one putt the whole round, the rest were two putts and I had two three putts. Everything else was spot on today just my putting was horrible. Went from birdie chances to bogeys.

Plus I'm not sure about you guys but do you ever have those moments where you just don't "feel" your putter? I think I had that today. Wasn't confident with it at all. I could've been only 4-6 over par if I could putt.

Another day at the driving range. I started out really well, but I guess I just got tired at the end as I my club head was dragging and I was leaving everything out to the right.

Need to go a few more times before I get a round in.
