Went to the range today, worked on that as well as keeping my swing slow. I have a good swing, I just need to slow it down. When I did I hit my 3 wood over 200 yards. I'm still waiting for my driver to get fixed. It will be unbearably hot tomorrow, so I'll wait until Friday/Saturday to play 18 holes.

      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

So while searching eBay today for deals on golf stuff, I stumbled upon a set of practically brand new Nike VR Pro Blade irons, 2-PW with Dynamic Gold S300 shafts. They had a buy now price of $399 + $49 to ship to Canada.

As soon as I saw them, the club ho in me took over and I bought them within a few minutes of viewing the article. They should hopefully be here sometime next week. Cannot wait to try them out!

Now I have to sell my Nike VR Pro Combo irons that I bought in February lmao.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Ok I'm back. After a "time out" since June 4th I finally went back out last Saturday.
Not a full course but a par 3'ish course.
        9 par 3's and 3 par 4's for 12 holes total.

A friend and I went and walked it. We played twice for 24 holes.

Don't know why other than it being a mental thing but after not swinging since June 4th, I had great ball striking and only missed a handful of greens all day.

Putting sucked but my mind was fresh and we had a blast.

Heading out tomorrow for a full course 4:00 tee time.

Went to the range again today to work on the driver, and thank goodness, the success I found earlier this week wasn't a fluke! Was able to make really solid contact and hit it straight more often than not. Loving this.

Is it a bad thing that I already want to get new clubs? This is a terrible idea, right? I keep telling myself that I need to just get better before even considering the possibility of new clubs.

Just a cheap beginner set that I got for $150 on Amazon: http://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/golf-c...sets/pre16.set

Not a bad set. What I did with my first set after I felt I was ready to build one from scratch was just replace things one club at a time. Started with the irons and ended with the driver.

Are you able to hit the ball consistently with your irons?

Well...depends on what you mean by consistently, haha. With a 6 iron and up, I can get decent to good contact the majority of the time. Not much distance and accuracy is a work in progress, but I can get good contact. Still having some trouble hitting the 4 or 5 iron out on the course. Can do it ok on the range sometimes, but not as consistently as with the 6 iron and above.

I'd stick with that you have for now until you can take any iron in your bag and hit it without any worry.

If you do decide to replace some clubs, think about getting hybrids to replace your 4 and 5 irons. Personally I find hybrids much easier to hit than long irons.

Yeah that's something to consider. From the few times I have used the hybrid, it has gone a bit better than the 4 and 5. I'll have to get some more practice in to figure out if this is what I'll do.

Went out and played the same short 9 again to get working on those irons. I think it went very well! Shot a 39, when the previous best was a 43. Had 2 pars, 3 bogies, and 5 double bogies. It really helps to not have any of those killer holes with a triple bogey or higher. Felt amazing! Iron shots were more or less on target and were struck well. The one time I used the driver it went straight. I even managed to get out of the bunker and onto the green in one easy shot, which I've never managed before. Felt amazing!

I think I've finally learned how to hit DOWN on the ball. Wow, what a difference. I could never really grasp the concept, but after work, what a difference.

I'm also working on feet positioning to help slices and hooks. That way I let my natural and comfortable swing handle the shot. Opinion: Is that a problem? Should I work on swing instead?

I'm hardly an expert, but I think this is the way I would handle it. Keep it as simple as possible.
