I just walk up, take a couple practice swings and hit.

I get pretty frustrated when I'm behind a group of 4 average golfers who all take forever for each shot, but that's just me. I'm pretty impatient most of the time and don't like to waste time.

I gotta agree with that. It always seems like the worst golfer are the ones taking 10 practice swings.

Another pet peeve of mine is people playing the "tips". Guys always want to play the longest tees, but they can't even break 100 from the senior tees. It is OK to play the shorter tees when you aren't that good. My friends do this all the time and they suck at golf. Learn to play the game before you start playing from the tips, it doesn't revoke your man card to play the white tees.

Doesn't it revoke your man card if you play from the red ones?

I see this all the time on the RTJ courses. The White tees are for handicaps 10-26. Orange are for 3-10, and blacks are for 0-3. Most everyone I see plays from the Orange tees, and lemme tell you, they don't have <10 handicaps.

I'm not good, so I try to keep things moving. Plus, I get my better hits when I don't 'linger' for a shot. I step up, one practice swing (or two if the first one 'duffs') quick glance downrange at where I want the ball to go, square up and swing.

All I think about is 'head down, let the club do the work'. I hit better when I don't TRY to hit hard.

I'm 6'3" and built like an offensive tackle (which I was in high school lol), I do not use a full swing, but what I do is enough to scoot the ball out there.

You guys heard of Legends Golf Course in South Africa? It's basically a golfers dream course, as a bunch of pros had a hand in making each hole. Pretty crazy stuff, as I guess there are lions and other various wildlife around the course.

Anyways, there is a 19th hole, called the Xtreme 19th. It's a par 3 where you tee off 1400 feet above the green. Here's a video of it, craziest thing i've ever seen. Padraig Harrington actually manages par on it by some miracle. Takes about 30 seconds for the ball to land on the green.

Damn, that par 3 takes 'elevated tee' to a whole new level! I could not even conceive of ever hitting the green.

Shot 81 today at Sand Creek Station in Newton, KS. Has THE longest hole in Kansas, its a 600 yard par 5. Water on left from the tee, OB on right. Water on right from second shot, OB left. Green is over water from second shot. But wide open if you lay up.

Played 9 holes 3 times this past weekend. 47, 49, 46. Not my best performance. I was playing back in PA with my dad as I went home for a few days. I had a ton of trouble putting. The greens were like glass, which normally isn't a bad thing, but I'm used to playing on a course up here where the greens are REALLY slow. So I never could adjust. I kept just missing putts but they would roll by the hole another 10-15 feet.

Playing 18 on Saturday, hopefully I play a little better...

I have some family in Newton, I might need to bring my clubs next time I visit so I can play. I looked up that course, and it looked pretty good.

Played on Sunday and forgot to post. Shot an 83 (37-46, par 35-36). As you can see, I went past the accepted beer to golf game ratio there on the back at some point. I was 3-over total through 12...

Was hitting the ball great, then just stopped caring as much because was with friends and having fun.

Played 9 holes last night and hit the ball solidly, but scored poorly because I got a couple of very unlucky bounces when I hit 2 different tree limbs. I think I shot 42 and that was with 2 doubles.

Playing in a good competitive match this weekend with some friends. I'm not sure about the rest of the OS golfers, but I tend to play much better when I know I'm playing with guys that are just as good or better than myself. I usually kinda step my game up so they know I belong on the same course. When I am just playing with a buddy, and I know there is nothing on the line, I tend to not line up putts as much, not think through my shots as much, etc. But if I'm playing "seriously", then I am much more likely to play well. Playing seriously does not mean I'm not having a good time and joking, making fun of the guys I'm playing with. It's constant chatter usually, but for myself, I want to beat the other guys so badly, that I concentrate much more. I have friends who play better by themselves, but I usually don't focus enough if I'm by myself.
