The crazy thing is - I work at in a pro shop, and I was waiting to close up one night, and I was killing time just looking through all the grips we have in our little repair shop, and I came across the Dri-Tac grips and was like "wow, these are amazing. I would love these."

That night, my new irons arrived in the mail, and I took them out of the box, and what do I find? Dri-Tac grips on them. I had no clue what kind of grips I would be getting on them. In the picture, the clubs had some Golf Pride grips, but I e-mailed the guy afterwards, and he said he got them regripped before sending them to me.

Went out and played for free today. My buddy is the head pro at the course. Slowed my swing down and really focused on each swing and really saw things start to come together.

Lower my previous score by 9 strokes. Felt great putting. Biggest problem was my irons missed every green not one in reg, but my chipping, pitching and putting were spot on.

Went out and played with a few of my buddies from high school. Didn't play very well, but realized that I was getting lazy and falling into my old swing. Really focused on getting the club above me rather than flat and wrapping it around me. Smoked my Driver about 300 right down the middle on our 17th hole, blasted a 5 wood off the tee on 18 and hit a great wedge. Had me leave the course feeling good.
Sounds like I should hit the range today to solidify that swing.
Putter was hot, short game needs some work (mostly flop shots)
Sounds good, I live in Grand Rapids now, but I can make a trip to Lansing if you can get us on one of those courses. Unfortunately, my calendar is pretty tight going up north for golf next week and then have a tournament in Traverse City and my Club Championship in July. Summer flies by too fast... If not this Summer, we'll have to get something on the calendar for the fall.

Is there a minimum handicap required for that? I love competitive golf. Play it as it lies and hole everything out. I do hate it though when you see a ball land in play and can't find it. That's a long walk back to the tee and even worse is there is a group waiting for you to hurry up and get out of the way.

We'll have to work something out and play a round.

Nope its an open tournament. I dont even have an official handicap lol
I hope its not too wet, that is quite frustrating. Had that happen to me, if it's not specifically noted in local rules always hit a provisional. I learned that the hard way in high school lol

It's Aug 1-3 i believe. Registration deadline is like 7/27 or something

I played in a local tournament last weekend that was flighted after the 1st day based on your score and your handicap. My handicap has gone up after my hip surgery, but I've started playing better recently. I shot 81 the first day and was in 5th place in my flight going into the 2nd day. 6 places won prizes or money in each flight. I shot 83 the 2nd day, double bogeyed 18 (caught a bad lie and skulled it over the green, bad way to finish). I finished 5th in my flight and won $150.

I love the pressure and the nerves that come with putting everything out and competing against others with no help from anyone else. I didn't play competitively as a kid and have only played in 3 or 4 tournaments where it was just me. Pretty proud of myself for placing "in the money". It obviously could have been better, but I beat A LOT of golfers that have much lower handicaps than I do.

golfed my best solo round yesterday at my local nine-hole course. it isn't a pretty card and i didn't have many 'beautiful' shots but man, i played solid golf. and that alone made me happy. going for 18 on monday on another course nearby, hoping for similar scores. my putting has really improved lately. mostly two putts on every green - but that has to do with my irons, not my putter.

I'm just now getting into golf, but I've never played on an actual course - only Top Golf. Lol.

I was on GolfSmith yesterday and found a Taylor Made Jetspeed driver for $120. Does anyone have experience with their drivers?

Just haven't been able to get out to the course yet this year since I need a new driver and all.

Finally, I have some money and I'm going get my driver sometime this week. Hopefully I can get out on the course next weekend!

well, went to another course for 18 this morning and sadly, couldn't keep it below 100. tale of two nines tho - couldn't putt on the front, couldn't drive on the back. need to get more consistent but the swing feels, overall, better.

Saturday Night headed out and shot my best golf in a long time. Started out with a Bogey, played the next 6 holes -2, and then gave it back with a double on the 8th, missed a 10 foot birdie putt on the 9th and finished with a 37 on the front.

The back I started out with 2 pars, then went 3 over on the next 4 holes before going -1 on the final 3 holes to finish with a 38.

37-38 75 with 29 putts. I went back to back birdies on the 4th and 5th holes and on a 180 yard par 3, pulled my 6iron into some deep weeds, I hacked out over the green and then chipped in for par, that really saved the round. Went a 3 hole stretch there with 2 putts, 2 birds and a par.

Love my game golf. Was looking at my yardages, and pretty much saw that my 2-iron hybrid is basically useless (hitting my 4-iron hybrid much farther), so I just pulled the trigger on an SLDR-S 5-wood. Looking like I will be free to golf on Sunday.

I need professional help....the tough thing is finding the right instructor. I don't think it's useful to just go to any old club pro for lessons, and in some cases it may be worse for your game. But I think I've finally realized I need someone other than me working on my game...
