    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Oh man. I got to play twice today, two different courses. Shot a 99 this morning, and on the more difficult course just now shot a 95! Feeling unbelievably good right now about the improvement. Kind of proving to myself that I am getting better and it's not a fluke.

I haven't played any of the new stuff, I stocked up on the previous model Z-stars when they went on clearance and been playing them ever since.

Before that though I found the Bridgestone FiXX to be a really nice ball in the $20 price range, stopped well on wedges, good feel off the putter. Only issue I had with them was durability.

        ^this

with the flush long irons its about a smooth, wide swing. The worst thing you can do is be too steep with a 3 - 5iron.

Went out and played 9 while still working on the swing. Shot a 48, with 2 lost balls. Felt good tempo and swing were insync. Lost the balls when I went too fast trying to kill it.

Still a work in progress but my putting continues to be the best part of my game. One three putt two 1 putts and the rest 2.

I personally wouldnt use pro v's even if they are cheap, those things spin out of control your drive will be worse than ever imo. I use chrome +'s which also spin a lot, but switch to one of the callaway balls mentioned when my slice is too much.
Pro V1x tones the spin down a lot.. if you don't need the spin, get the v1x. Sorry, but pro v1s are the best ball, at least to me they are, everyone is different, but I find your statement false.

Balls are fickle IMO. I've played the PV1x and am not as impressed as I am with the Z-Star and B330-RX. I love the PV1 as my putting ball, but for somereason I am not a fan of any Titleist ball. It could very well be the user, but for my money Bridgestone makes some of the best balls in golf. Their E series is a very good ball for beginners/high handicappers.

Now that is just me though and I know people who HATE Bridgestone for example and swear by Taylor Made balls or Nike or Titleist etc. Its all relative. At $45 a dozen play what you trust and what works for you I say.

                Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Rob, you are right. It IS the user. I need the extra spin that someone might not need because they get enough spin.

I welcome the extra spin by the green and love it.

If you are someone who likes to roll it more, titlist aren't the way to go.

I just disagree about what he said about the driver. The ball doesn't cause your driver to shorten (Or worsen, whatever he meant by that), its the swing. I hit just fine off the drive with my Pro V1s.

Completely agree Rob, If I don't like the way a particular ball feels off the putter I can't play it. NXT Tours as an example. Absolutely loved them off the driver, but the feel off the putter killed them for me.

Ever since I started playing the Taylormade Tour Preferred X Ball when it came out in stores, I haven't used another ball since. Best ball I've ever used.

                      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I know Titleist in the most played ball in golf or whatever, but I can't play them. I don't know if it's mental at this point or what, but I play like **** with Titleist.

Like I said, it could just be that I have it in my mind that I can't play them. But if someone offers me a sleeve of Titlests for free, I either decline or take them and give them to someone else.

I've gotten lately where I play Nike RZN Black or Nike RZN White. This time last year, I was playing exclusively Bridgestone B330.

Finally getting my groove back. Shot an 82 in the Sunday tournament and then tonight I started right where I left off. Shot a 78 with 12 GIR, 2 birdies, and 33 putts. Once the putting stroke comes back to me I'll be in pretty good shape. Its all starting with the drive right now. Getting in the 250 to 280 range and hitting 8's 9's and Wedges into the par 4s. Was almost on 2 of the par 5s in 2 today, but caught some greenside bunkers. Got a bigg Ryder Cup tournament coming up in 2 weeks in Northern Michigan and going to be going head to head against some guys that are in the +2 to +4 range so I got to be on my game. I hit the cloth pat of the flag tonight and I thought for a brief second it may go straight down for an ace but it bounced about 6 feet away and I lipped out for a par.

I know my game is coming around though, the swing feels effortless. Hit 200 balls on the range last Saturday with no fatigue.

I live in Lansing. I work at Hawk Hollow/Eagle Eye. Lets play

                          ________

Went out and played with a few of my buddies from high school. Didn't play very well, but realized that I was getting lazy and falling into my old swing. Really focused on getting the club above me rather than flat and wrapping it around me. Smoked my Driver about 300 right down the middle on our 17th hole, blasted a 5 wood off the tee on 18 and hit a great wedge. Had me leave the course feeling good.
Sounds like I should hit the range today to solidify that swing.
Putter was hot, short game needs some work (mostly flop shots)

Yup, everything is right in the world...except now its raining cats and dogs...and frogs too

                            Played 8 holes
5 pars, 2 bogies, and 1 birdie. My 9th hole was going to be a 500 yard par 5. So ill just call that a par and 37 sounds pretty darn good to me

Got some "new" clubs. Some slightly used Adams Idea CB2 irons. Love them. And love the grips that the previous owner had put on them. So much so that I put the same grips on my remaining clubs (sand wedge, driver, 3 wood). Winn Dri-Tac.

But I was long overdue for some new irons. I've used the same Top Flight irons for 7 or 8 years now.

I have the same grips on all of my clubs and love them. Played in a huge rainstorm with them last month and didn't feel any problems at all gripping the clubs.
