They did this with their burner irons as well. Jacked up the lofts and the iron lengths were .5" longer than standard.

It fools the average consumer. They don't know anything about specs and purely base their purchase off of distance. They bomb a 6 iron 170 with a regular club but hit it 185 with the speedblades. They will buy the speedblades. Its smart marketing but very, very shady. Thats why I don't buy Taylor made products.

For some reason it'a really burning me up. I hit the ball and it felt good I was even thinking about buying a set just because I think the promotion was cool.

But it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.

So was looking around and noticed I have some unexpected money coming in and might go ahead and upgrade my irons from my taylormade r7s

I am on a budget of around $500.

Any suggestions? New or used is fine. If I buy used, it would more than likely have to be excellent or mint (global golf) as I really would like them to last a while.

Do you want to upgrade from the current iron type you have or stay in a game improvement iron?

            Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Eh.. not sure. I mean honestly, I have moments where I hit great and could be an under 80 shooter most of the time but then I have shots where I still chunk or my damn chipping goes across the green and I end up high 80s now.

My irons are very solid despite a few mi****s now and then, but overall, my bad score comes from a terrible drive + 2-3 chips to the green LOL (I will chip like 2 yards, then finally chip on the green but not near hole)

I plan to go to the golf store here soon and hit a few different irons and see what I like but here are what I have had eyes on for now..

Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour (I hear the tour version is for the better play and hits lower, but the standards are for the higher handicap, but I don't want to play improvment irons if I hit them pretty solid and the tour would be better and still falling in my price range)

            Mizuno MP 58

            Titlist AP1 712

Just merely because I seen prices that fall under my range and they have great reviews (all comes down to me hitting them of course, but just wanting suggestions)

Crazy watching Bubba Watson single-handedly ruin the cut line for the majority of the players at Augusta. Its awesome that he was one of the featured groups for Masters Live today.

Rocketbladez Tour, X Hot Pro's, Cobra AMP Forged, 712 AP2's are good choices if you're looking to upgrade into a hybrid between players clubs and game improvement clubs. Main things with these is the smaller head size and not as much offset.

Mizuno clubs aren't always the easiest to find but the Mizuno JPX EZ Forged and the JPX 825 Pros are worth a look to in that category. I would love to try the AMP Forged, I really like the look of Cobra's recent product lines.

A new golf shop opened right down the road and uses a device called Trackman for club fitting. Anyone familiar with that?

I decided to finally take the plunge and get fitted. Thinking about going and swinging some taylormade rocketbladez and go from there.

Take advantage of the fact they use it, and enjoy your fitting.

After reading that, it sounds like I am making a great decision to get fitted. Sounds like they could really make the clubs just right for me.

                          Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Just got back from the golf store. First time in and I was impressed.

The owner of the store spent 1 hour with me just describing what all trackman does and how it works..

He covered multiple iron sets with me and as much I wanted Rocketbladez, he made a great case to look elsewhere.

He has me leaning toward Mizuno JPX 875 or Mizuno JPX-EZ for $699.99

He also said Ping was great and showed me the G20 and G25.

Overall, I am VERY excited to get started with this Trackman and get into custom irons.

The golf fitter there was a professional player of the PGA so makes me even more confident in getting fit.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the Ping G series Super Game Improvement irons. I am dated because I bought the G10s when they first came out and I know those are SGI irons.

Without actual fitting, being a golfer who shoots mid to high 80s, it's recommended to get game improvement irons.

I don't like Ping so I'm thinking going for the mizuno jpx 825 or ez, guess I'll see what the Trackman says.

They got pretty thick in the G15-G20 range but they toned it down in the G25. The G25 has a much thinner topline & sole. I still wouldn't call the 15 or 20 super game improvement. They are a bit thicker and more offset than your AP1 type club but they're no Callaway Diablo.
