Vokey wedges seem to be the wedge to get. I don't play them personally I play the Callaway X Series Jaws wedges. The new Taylormade wedges look pretty good as well.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I hit a slight draw, so here goes:
G: 110
P: 130
9: 135
8: 145
7: 155
6: 160
5: 170
4: n/a - I don't hit it, use hybrid usually
3hi: 185
3W: 200
Dr: 220
As you can see, my yardages could be significantly higher - but I know what they are. I don't hit the 4 out of preference for my hybrid. I'm not tall, just barely 5'8. I got some weight on me though at 210 from previous lifting and soccer/athletic - but lately more fat than muscle (no gym, rarely exercise). Driver carry is 220 on average, my longest drive of playing is 285 on a level set up - no wind. Swing speed needs to be figured out though as it's been a while.
I'll work on the hinging of the wrists. Snapping the wrists kind of reminds me of Mike Austin style, but not quite that much supination (or is it pronation) past the ball (so not flipping at it).TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played my first round in about a month. Front nine went well enough shot a 46. Back nine was just terrible, I blew up with a 12, two 8s and a 9. Other 5 holes were acceptable couple bogeys and couple pars. I really need to stop talking about it and just go take lessons. My biggest problem is when things start to go south, I don't have the fundamentals to fall back on. My driver is erratic as hell, left, left, straight, slice, snap hook, straight, left. Very hard to play that way.
Putter was outstanding today, made one for 15 feet, and two others from between 10-12, and I was money at 6 feet and in. Really only reason I was able to keep the score decent on the back 9 is the number of 1 putts. Oh well I will take a day on the course over just about everything.
I had the exact same problem as you - my driver was really erratic and unpredictable, however my 3 wood is always long and straight, some of my friends who play better are impressed by my 3 wood. That got me thinking, could I hit my driver like I hit my 3 wood?
I hit down on all my clubs(sometimes too down), and my 3 wood is no exception. Ive gotten so used to the feeling, that I have the confidence to crush it, and it goes. My driver and my long irons were really holding my game back.
I went to the driving range to correct this, with the thought I'd try to hit down on my Driver(which i didnt know was possible) and make it much more like a 3 wood swing. What do you know? Success. After about 6/7 drives getting used to how it felt, I crushed close to 20 balls practically dead straight, all between 250-290. It felt really good. I took it to the course, and have had two rounds since this revelation, and I, so far, have gone from a late 90's to 105 golfer, instantly to shooting these two scores: 86, 89 ... all because my driver is putting me in better spots and not losing as many balls, and my long irons are more reliable.
I started putting my hands in front of the clubhead, slower backswing to ensure the first foot or so was straight going back, then as I near the top of my swing I begin to accelerate and this continues through the ball. It has been quite reliable and I am excited to keep playing.
Hope some of this helps.TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
So when i was referring to my change in set-up and posture, this is what i was talking about. With my driver i stood straight-legged and bent at the waist. I never knew exactly what it looked like but I knew it wasn't quite right.
My buddy has this app and compared my posture to Charles Howell III and instantly I see what i need to do. Knee flex
That took me all of 2 rounds to get used to and now I consistently crush the ball off the tee. The only problem is that with this, my ball flight should be a push-draw. But right now there's no draw
I'm gunna tinker with my ball position, but I'm thinking its just a timing thing.
Either way, once i find this "last piece" of the puzzle that is my driver, I'll be a baaadddd man.
I used to put important things hereComment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Do you have a video of your swing? Yep, nothing better than seeing your own swing. Knee flex is key, specifically right knee flex. If your right leg straightens when you bring the club back, it significantly reduces your turn and consequently power. Also, if you want the high power draw, Lean back at address and swing out to 1 o'clock.
I'll get a vid here in the next few days. But I've been bombing lately, I think I'm finally getting loosened up. My best drives down in Florida was 300+ (cross wind).
Edit: when I was standing straight legged I would dip, to create the torque... but now my head stays still with the same amount of torque

I dont have a video, it was on his phone. But maybe you're right, lean back with the shoulder a tad. I have been swinging to 1 o clock tho.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
If any guys want the perfect setup so to speak, I do this AND never hit the ball more consistent and accurate.
Basically here are my steps for those maybe struggling to find the correct posture, ball position as I did with my new clubs..
*For right handed golfers*
Step 1: Get up to ball, stand behind the ball, hold club toward your target around the waist and take a step sideways and forward so you know you are pointed to the target and your feet are correct.
Step 2: Hold the club straight out again with the back of the grip facing your belt buckle.
Step 3: Take a step with your right foot and lean over until the club touches the ground, adjust to behind the ball and bring your left foot up with the right.
Step 4: Adjust your stance, shoulder width (slightly more with longer irons and driver, etc)
Step 5: Adjust grip and swing..
In words, it sounds like it takes a while to do, but I normally set up and swing about the same time as my golfing partner.
I cannot find the video I watched, but he showed how the pros get into the constant routine of doing this and lord did it help.
I used to just take a look, and line everything up at once and I really struggled until I did this and have not hit better.Comment

Doing what I posted gets your angle correct. It gets everything set actually haha. When you watch pros, you'll see what I'm talking about better than I can explain it.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Basically.. Stand behind your ball a couple of feet. Just aim with your club head down the target line.. Hold it about waist high and side step left. Then scoot forward where you would stand and continue the steps.
If you can aim just fine, don't worry about it go to step 2. I just have issues aiming for my mark. I always want to aim way left or right, this has really helped me be square on.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
No, I know what you meant, just reinforcing for everyone to stand behind their ball and take a look regardless of their routine. I see too many people approach the ball from the side and never take a look from behind the ball.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
