    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Going out on Saturday! First time out in 3 weeks due to back issues. Goal is to break 100...nothing too lofty.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Goal #1: take it easy, have fun, don't re-aggravate the back.

Actually you're right, that is goal #1! Goal #2 is to break 100

Took my daughter to the range with me and had her film me using the slow mo feature of the iphone 6. Highly recommended.

Definitely not getting enough shoulder turn. I need to work on that. I also think I foiund a cure to the tennis elbow after visiting the doctor. The key stretch is to hold your arm out straight then rotate your hand clockwise as far as you can and then use your other hand to push down on the back of the hand after about 3 weeks of doing that about 10 times a day, I think Im back in business.

            Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

We've settled into a nasty wet pattern here in the East. I've managed to get out to the range once or twice a week, but it has been too wet for me to want to play a full 18. A shame, too, because I'm finally upgrading my equipment after too long.

Got a new Nike Vapor driver, which I hit considerably more consistently than my previous driver. A new putter, the Cleveland TFI 2135 6.5, which I absolutely love. It is a pretty heavy putter but that's really what I needed, gives me very consistent contact and speed. My last putter was far too light and I had distance control problems; hopefully this helps limit my 3-putts. Also got a new TM hybrid but it hasn't arrived just yet.

Last thing I'm looking at now is my irons. I had a set that I was sold on, but it recently sold out in my configuration, so I'm once again shopping around to determine what I want. I was looking at the Speedblades. Anything comparable would be great, have certainly considered keeping it in the TM family but that's not necessary.

Anyone have experience with these? I don't much care about buying 2016 gear. Hardly a professional so I'm looking more at bang for my buck. Stiff flex and steel are my only necessities. I'd also prefer a set with an attack or gap wedge; I already have a sand wedge that's fairly new, so I'd prefer to fill that loft gap rather than double up. Not a necessity just a preference.

I've also considered these, for reference. Any experience with cobra irons, I'd love to hear your feedback. For the record a Dick's employee recommended the Speedblades and I've only heard good things, that's why they went to the top of my list originally.

There's also these that I can get in the configuration I desire.

I have hit pings for the last 10 years because I'm taller and needed a custom fit. I didn't realize how much difference a custom fit could make. But I have been very impressed with the pings.

Sunday = Mothers Day. You can golf Mothers day, but it would probably be the last time this year.

                    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I had been struggling off the tee (brutal slice 60% of the time) since buying the Nike VRS Covert 2.0 a couple years ago... After a miserable start to the year with it i finally decided... screw it. It's time to look at other options. I got a set of Taylormade irons last year that really improved my game, and thought... let me try a driver from them. My last two drivers had been Nike's. I can't justify dropping the kind of cash they want on the M1 and M2, so I was looking at the R15's which are fairly priced right now. Man... I tell you. I loved it. A few adjustments of the loft, and weights here and there and wow. Bought it on the spot even though I told myself I wouldnt.

Played a round with it on Saturday. I only missed 2 fairways all day, which is great for me. The first tee, I was just about in the trees to the right, but not quite, and that was more than likely due to it being in my head lol. The second time was on 14 where I was about a foot off the fairway into the rough. Just an awesome club. It's been a long, long time since I was able to tee off, and just grab my tee and walk away after a brief glance down the fairway at my ball going right where I wanted it.

Not a problem here. Been married for 23 years and she has her things and I mine

I spent our 20th anniversary in North Carolina on a golf trip lol
That was during a time where we had free housing. Basically we (golf friends) we're invited by one of the friends parents to use beach house for free before spring/summer rentals started ...

We spend a ton of time together all through the year so when things come up we have interests in, whether it's hers on mine..... it's on!

My return to the course was ended by back issues on the driving range. Appears I'm heading back to the doctor to figure out what is wrong with my back.

This really, really, really, really sucks.
