Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
May rain just a little bit for my Saturday tee time, but Sunday tee time looks to be in good shape. Playing golf in March, here in Kansas, is a blessing on its own - but I am more excited to see my dad test out his new Adams' hybrid club set.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Didn't get out today so hopefully I can get out tomorrow.
Plan to be a stalker and try to find more golf friends.
The main guys I golf with don't have the fever as much as me (or as much time off work) so I want to find more.Joshua:

I'm looking into a few apps to help also. Looks like many at GolfWRX use GolfMatch.Joshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Go get fit for a driver. Keep an open mind and try to limit your biases while being fit. Let the fitter do their job and don't ask many questions of what all they are having you do as they are making adjustments and such. The less you "know" the easier to keep the biases and preconceived notions out of your head. Take your current driver with you so that whoever is doing the fitting can get a baseline to go off of no matter if it's a fitting done indoors or on a range.
How old is your current driver and what are you looking to improve? Distance or accuracy? Are you willing to carry it 5-10 yards less but stay on the fairway? The more info you can give the fitter, the easier it will be to give more accurate recommendations.
I'm not brand loyal and I hit all the major brands multiple times before deciding which to buy.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I have the same problem with finding playing partners.
There's a group of about 6 guys I try to rotate rounds with, but half the time I'm going solo.
Including today
It's friggin 60 degrees in Chicago suburbs, in early March no less, and I can't find anyone that wants to play.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Actually got a chance to play yesterday. Didn't play poorly but didn't play great. Shot 93 which is right around my average to start the year. I still need a new driver, but these new Ping irons are amazing!
I still need to get distance under control and my touch around the green is hit and miss, but I was putting like a madman. 5 - 1 putts from 15 feet or more out made for decent scoring.
Next weekend I won't play due to the tournament but I will be playing the weekend after that. Hopefully by then I will have settled on a new driver.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Jealous of you guys who are playing already. Courses are a little too wet here still, and suppose to rain this week. I'm planning on hitting the range tomorrow afternoon with the new 1 wood.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Dad and I got to play two rounds this weekend, so Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, I was all over the place, it was the first round of the season after all. Just could not keep it together, especially near the greens. I think I had about 42 putts, just overhitting them and not getting the speed right in general. Shot a 87 (par 70).
Sunday, absolutely played a solid 41 on the front 9, which included 2 missed 3 foot putts for par. I nailed my driver all day, missed one fairway, GIR was about 80%, I mean I had it clicking...
My issue was the short game. Chipped and putted like a baffoon, couldn't get speed right again, and topped/bladed, chunked, s-word....finished with an 86 (par 70).
So, US handicap is still at a 14.6 - need to work on that short game big time.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
If I don't get season started soon I'm going to snap lol
I know the week of the 21st I'll be out at least 3 times as my friend and I have that week planned as he's off all week. I just hope I can get out this week.Joshua:
