Well I got a vac day approved for Thursday night.
So instead of getting off work at 5am Friday morning and having to be at the course (45 minutes away) at 6:30 for registration.... then tee off at 7:30..
I will get plenty of rest and be ready for a relaxing start of the tourney.

        Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Oh and I did end up purchasing the Nike Covert Performance 3 wood. My bag is now complete.

              Ugly bag, great clubs lol

Although I've never been a fan of Nike Drivers.

Honestly, the size of the head on some of these new ones are just too big for me. At address I just don't feel comfortable looking at them. I'm still hitting a Titleist 907D2 that works just fine.

Speaking of bags. Just bought this one. It's the 14 slot premium stand bag. So basically like a tour bag with a stand.

                Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I played in 3 different tournaments in 3 days. I pretty much sucked in all of them, lol. I did win a Cobra golf bag and won a putting contest, but my actual play on the course left a lot to be desired.

Then I went out right after it rained yesterday (my game is best when it's dry and my ball will roll out) and played and shot 79 outta nowhere. I didn't even really hit it that well or make a lot of putts. I have another tournament next weekend that I was thinking about skipping because I was playing so poorly. Now, I'm not sure. I could probably use that $125 somewhere else, but it's hard to pass up playing. I love the competition aspect. I didn't play any competetive golf growing up, so these single tournaments are still kinda new to me. Since I have retired from basketball and softball and pretty much everything else that I used to play because of my knees, golf is where I get my competition fix. There and Xbox, haha.

                  Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

So I'd been having the most difficult time at the range just getting my grip right. Couldn't get any consistency and I knew I was using bad form/technique even when I was hitting it right. Watched a bunch of videos for an hour or two and went to the range again this morning. Tried to do some more tinkering, and started off pretty rough. Eventually though, I made a small adjustment to the grip and FINALLY found a way to maintain constant control from backswing to follow through. Made a huge difference and I started hitting the cleanest feeling shots I've ever had in my life. Consistency still needs some work, but man it felt great. Can't wait to get back out there to keep practicing. Slowly learning!

I don't play much, but I recently checked my clubs out and found out that they were women's clubs. I had always found myself slicing the ball and not hitting it as far as I thought I should. So I went out and bout a Strata starter set and went and played a couple rounds. Hit the ball about third yards farther and definitely straighter.

Finally got out for the first round of the year today. Just played a little executive course by my house with some friends. Par 29 I think. I shot a 41, haha.

Hit some truly awful tee shots. Man, at the range I am pretty consistent, but on the course it all goes to hell. I think I am just thinking about it too much, whereas at the range I just hit them without really thinking about it.

Best shot of the day was a PW from about 50 yards out, landed it right next to the hole. Ended up like 6 feet away from the hole. I'd like to think it was because I put some backspin on it, but more likely because of the wet greens, haha. And of course the par putt lipped out

Well I finally broke 100 today. I always play the white tees when I play and I played a new course today. When I walked up to the 2nd hole I knew the white tees were not going to do it for me so I moved back and shot at the blue tees. I proceeded to have the best game of my life. I had 6 bogeys and 3 pars. Ended up with a total of 98. I can't wait until I get my new irons I know my game will get better when I do.

                            Congrats on breaking 100!

Not to ruin this but if you are shooting high 90's you shouldn't be playing the Blues IMO. You should stick with the whites til you are shooting in the low 80's 70's and then move up. Tee it Forward! You will be hitting shorter iron shots increasing your chance to get more GIR's and having more birdie, par, bogey chances.

I know, I know. The white tees were so close though. I liked the challenge but your right. White tees it is for me.
