Finally got out to the course twice this week.
Was actually happy with the improvement I have shown since start of last year. Driver isn't hooking as much as it did last year. I shortened my swing with driver which helped with my accuracy.
Was not so happy with the 95 degree temps and the sun burn on my neck but a day at the golf course is always better than a day at work.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I've got a 20% chance of playing this weekend. Tomorrow I'm in a birthing class with the wife all day (9am-4pm) ugh. Next day is church that starts at 11, then USA game then a rec soccer game - damnit!
You guys shoot em low for me. I'll be cursing at the sunshine.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Man, I am not ready for summer golf. It was 91 degrees out yesterday and on the last three holes my body had just given up, legs were buckling, arms were jello. Gonna try to get up early tomorrow and be out around 630-7 am to beat the heat.Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
haha I had a very rough time on the first 9. Then we got the beer out and I stopped caring. The amount of wind present was ridiculous, and wasn't scoring weather. I felt like I was always hitting into the wind, so basically all of the par 4's turned into drivable par 5's. The shot that made the entire outing enjoyable was when I hit my driver off the deck on a par four (I had to prove a point since the wind was blowing right in my face) and got it there hole high. I drilled it and was amazed I pulled it off (even though I missed the green).Last edited by wrigleyville33; 06-01-2013, 03:15 PM.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well my usual rules for golf are I get as many mulligans as I want and water and ob shots don't cost a stroke because losing a ball is bad enough.
Well I played on the base course today which is pretty easy and shot a legit 89 minus a couple of tee shots that were distracted during my backswing so I hit another tee shot. But I counted all ob shots and water shots and still did really good. I attribute to my Taylormade burner 2.0's, it was my second time taking them out and this new GPS app I tried called fungolf. It has a caddie function that helps you choose your club based on the distances you input. I hit a lot of GIR because of it and it made my round fun.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I recently decided to start playing golf and I went to the range for the first time today. I was hitting my driver about 220ish but I occasionally had a pretty bad slice. I think it was pretty good for me being a beginner though. Only problem I had was my irons. I was hitting my 6 only 100, so I definitely need some work on that. Any advice for hitting with them?Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Starting off, i would also suggest keeping the majority of your weight forward (left side if righty, right side if lefty) and smack the inside of the ball.
Eventually you will start building confidence with some solid shots - but those are the main things I would focus on.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I think I have found my new weekend summer golf routine. Up at 545 am, at the course by 6. Back home after 18 at 1115. Not too bad and I will be able to beat the heat. Shot another round under 110, which for me is a big improvement. My ball striking is so much better now, I am hitting so many pure shots, now. And today my putter returned to form. Made a couple of 12 foot breakers, and some of my lags, were almost in. It was a good round, but my stamina isn't where it needs to be yet. I started falling apart on the back 9 again. I think I am going to go take a lesson foucusing on my alignment, because that is the thing that is killing me now. I will think I have a shot lined up and I will hit it and it will be on my line, but my line isn't where I though it was. So for example, I had a second shot on a par 4, laying about 114 yds. I take my PW and while the shot goes "straight" it is so far right of the target it hits the hill and rolls further away, I pitch it on the green and get out with a 5. So I need to work on that part of my game next. That happened at least 6 times, and adds at least one stroke to every hole. I will break 100 this summer as that is my goal and I am playing more and better golf than I ever have before.Moderator

Driver swing taken at the range today:

I don't think I'm fully releasing after impact. It's very apparent in my iron swing videos. I think it is because I'm really focusing on trying to keep that right foot from coming too much up on the downswing. However ever after I make contact, I'm still keeping my foot planted... which may be killing some distance.Last edited by wrigleyville33; 06-02-2013, 06:50 PM.Comment
