    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

After playing 2 days in a row, went for 3rd today - but rained out. Now, of course, the sun is shining and I'm at home. Wife is preggo - so I dont' want to leave her too long (usually tee of around 7, back before she is awake) - so that means my golf weekend is done.

Shot well, really bombed my driver yesterday - had a 302 yard drive - downwind 15mph, but still - means a lot for a 5'7 guy like me

Yeah, I thought about going out today to chase the round I had yesterday, but decided to stay home. Looking like I will be playing hookey for work on Friday and go play though. Got a $10 off coupon from "Richard's" so I may grab a box of balls.

Well I shot a 110 today but I played legitimate. I counted all my penalties and didn't take any mulligans. I couldn't hit my driver to save my life. Oh well maybe the next round will be better.

Guys. You have go to check out this thread from GolfWrx.

          http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/...wing-illusion/

And a general video of the idea - but missing one key component:

          <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_JES-8I-VAk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It will change your idea of the backswing completely. Combine this with a stretch of the right arm (that's right, feel the right arm stretch at the top) - and from there it's keep your head behind the ball and smack it.

This is what my instructor, Josh Nahm, from firekeper has recommended - and I went from this:

          <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MxJ4lIj00qI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

          to this:

Shot 91 today..... real tired of leaving easy shots out there.
I stayed in play for the most part, just lost some accuracy. I really need to get out at least once a week.

Shot a 40 after work today for 9. I believe this is the first outing (for 9 or 18) where I haven't had a double.

I've had my Ping G10 Irons since they were first available to order and today I bought new grips. Gonna play on Sunday then taking them to get regripped.

Those will be nice. I haven't had my irons gripped since I bought them six years ago lol.

So I tried this at the range today and the results were... very surprising. I was driving down on the ball and hitting for more power and consistency. I was surprised how well it translated into my chipping game as well. I'm interested to see how it will be tomorrow when I play 18. I don't know if it was a mental thing, or if it's actually improved technique. We'll see.

Glad to hear you gave it as hot. The thread on golfwrx is getting pretty hot - although can be a bit too technical for my liking.

It's quite the concept, it works for me because it keeps me in my posture (spine angle) and are not involving so many different steps (low and slow, cocking wrists first, etc). It's just building resistance early, straighten right arm a little (which increases straightening of left as a result) and just let go on the way down keeping your head behind the ball.

Good luck on your round tomorrow!!
