Honestly a little surprised to see so many people that don't use an interlocking grip. When I first started golfing I didn't do it, but my uncle caught me doing it and told me to switch to interlocking because it made it easier to control the club...always felt unnatural to me but I kept doing it because I thought it was how everyone else gripped a club.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Yeah I use interlocking. Without interlocking I always felt the need to grip tighter. With interlocking it's easier to take a light grip for me.Joshua:

I only overlap on chips and pitches around the green because I tend to grips tighter there to control speed and ball flight.Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well 7 days until my next charity golf event. Can't wait. Hopefully I'll get out at least once before the event.
Need to get a little tighter on my approaches. At least with it being a Captains choice there won't be a ton of pressureJoshua:

Shot 43 in my Thursday night 9 hole league yesterday. Just wasn't feeling it at all. My iron game was a mess as well as my putting. Got some kinks to work out that's for sure. I'm seriously considering taking a lesson to tweak a few things in my swing

I switched to interlock, this year. It's been a simple transition because I haven't lost the grip in the middle of the swing.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Finally played a full round yesterday and shot 38 on the front. I got a little tired on the back 9 I think and shot a 41. My first round under 80 for the year, so my game is starting to round back into form. I hadn't been under 85 prior to yesterday, all year. There has been so much rain here this year that I haven't gotten to play as much as usual.
Yesterday makes me feel a lot more confident about the tournaments I have on Sunday & Monday. Really need to work on my game around the greens. If I could have chipped halfway decent yesterday I would have shot a 74 or 75.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I think my official handicap is still at 9, but for some reason my pro hasn't put in my bogey golf rounds yet from this year. I can probably only really play to about a 13 or 14 right now, but hopefully I'm on my way to a 7-8 handicap this year. I'd be fine with that, although you always leave strokes out there every round to make you think your handicap could be lower.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I just checked my ghin and it is now a 10.4 index. My high scores just got added and knocked out some rounds in the low 70's. I was down to an 8.4 last summer so I've got some work to do, but yesterday helped my confidence a lot.
The weather has a been a big problem for me in Kentucky. It has rained and rained and rained. Heck, I was gonna play at 2:00 today and guess what? It's raining. Forecast calls for rain tomorrow too. Usually by now I have 10-15 scores in. I have 4 in right now. So I really am blaming it partially on the weather. The rain and cool temps have also caused our bermuda fairways to be slow coming in. I've basically been hitting off dirt/mud for the last 2 months. Grass is still not totally in, the weather has just sucked so far this year for golf and the golf course.PSN: Koolie_G

I'm going to get out and play a late afternoon round here. Let it cool of a little bit here in SC.Comment

I've always read/been told that interlocking is mostly for those with smaller hands, overlapping for larger hands. I've tried both (used interlocking when I first started), and it feels a lot better to me to overlap.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Going out this weekend come hell or high water. Been really busy and haven't had a chance to get out there, but the Wife is going to a concert Satruday. I could probably get in 36 holes, but I doubt my back would hold up as I have had massive honey-do's lately.Moderator
