Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Lol, I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on the 716s. Not that there is anything wrong with my 714s but I just like new. Have no plans to get away from my SLDR though. Been inside putting all winter, my stroke feels so good right now. Not sure how much golf I will be able to play this year though. Daughter wont turn 1 until August 2nd and work has been killing me as I have about 150 named accounts that I am in charge of. May just get the 716s next year...Last edited by SinisterAlex; 02-03-2016, 07:03 PM.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I would definitely hit a heated range where you hit balls to the outside to compliment the simulator. A few years back, I used simulators in the winter and the ball flight was saying perfect and when I got out to the real course I had a slice of all things. I hit a nice little draw normally but the simulator was somehow picking up a hook so I tweaked my swing to fit the simulator, it took me about 3 rounds in the 90's and some serious range work to get my game back.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Thanks, I'll look into some "heated" time also.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Been a while since I hit some balls...but back at it earlier this week. Was thinning a lot of irons - very frustrating. I'm pretty sure it has to do with too flat of a swing plane, but when I go more upright, I start slicing the ball again which I would like to avoid at all costs. I'm sure there's a sweet spot somewhere, but haven't quite found it yet. The search continues...Comment

Local golf expo this weekend. Looking for a Vapor Speed driver, and possibly a new bag. If the price is right I might convince myself to buy new irons. Could be a fun weekend.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
My work schedule in the non busy months are prime for me as I have 3 days off a week. So hopefully again this year (Although we will be a lot busier this year) I'll have plenty of time.
Been looking at a few sites to get some more golf friends from the general area.
The more the merrier.
Hope you can get out this year enough to get your golf fixJoshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
The perks of working in the industry, year round golf on the indoor simulator. Been getting plenty of swings in and also able to work on things I'd normally have to wait for the range and good weather. Great weather expected this Fri and Sat, but of course we have a TaylorMade weekend for people to get fitted for the new M2. Might make it out Sunday morning before the Daytona 500, but it's only going to be a high of 60 and I'm not a below 60 degree fan.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Ok... Today hit 64 degrees and yes me and my friend hit the 12 hole course today.
Hit a small bucket first and the rust was not bad but not close to season ready.
Not sure how they would compare to the 714's but compared to the X-Hots I have they are not nearly as much as a "game improvement" iron as the X Hots.
With that said.. I LOVE these clubs so much more.
Miss hits did not go as friendly as the X Hots but the feel of the miss hits (and the pure hits) were soooo much better in terms of the feel off the club.
Don't know really how to describe it.
I hit a few off the toe and while the ball flight was still true ,albeit less distance, I knew right at that moment.. "Oh crap"
Can't say that about my previous irons. I never got the total feel/feedback of off center hits as much.
Guess you could say they spoiled me (In a bad way IMO ) as to where now not only can I feel the miss hit better, I am more inclined now to stay focused and make great strikes more often.
Hope I'm making sense.
As far as the flight compared the X-Hots they had a lower ball flight but a beautiful penetrating flight.
We didn't really play as much as we'd get out to the par 4's then play the hole then drop back certain distances to work on things.
As far as the SM5 wedges.. I've always had a decent short game and these wedges felt second nature and I had full controll of my shots.. high and the low checkers. They felt great.
The driver switched to a stiff shaft worked great.. Well.. 3 for 3 in fairways hit so not a huge data bank to go off of but they were pretty much all dead straight with a ever so slight draw. Was a tad windy so time will tell.
I want to get to a range soon to test out a SC200 I have. It measures ball speed and swing speed then gives distances etc..(SC200 model also lets you put in what lofts your irons are. SC100 did not have that ability and just used a standard left depending on what club you had it set for)
Good reviews and not that far off from GC2/FlightScope.
I threw it down once today and hit a wedge 126 yards (Carry) and it said my carry was 124. So not too bad for a personal system. I'm a tech nut so I buy things. That's what I do
It also has a mode where it will randomly give you distances and you try to hit them. Anyways that will get more use when I'm alone and have a few hours to just relax and work on the game.
Was a really fun day to start the new season even though it will probably be 2 weeks more before we really see better weather. Today was a good.. scratch the itch day. Can't wait to get back out and more importantly, to a full course.Joshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Today I hit the range for my first real work with the new irons (and New driver shaft) and it was a really fun time.
I started out just with some warmup swings with PW then working to the 7i.
After a good warm up I put the SC200 down and started hitting shots at targets.
Today I'm sure due to going to the stiff shafts (and AP1's didn't hurt either lol ) I hit on target the most consistently than I ever have. It was to the point where I was oozing confidence. I probably twirled my club a little too much after shots being as I was on the range but screw it lol .
Also adding to the accuracy was a drill I've been doing of swinging with the feeling of getting the shaft around my body through impact. This was due to me releasing the club to quickly and causing my main miss.. a pull 10 yards left. This worked great and really quieted down my hands.
In the end I was carrying about 7-10 more yards due to the stronger lofts. The overall feel off the club face , especially after a pure strike, was pretty sweet.
I mixed in a drive here and there also to keep everything fresh.
After getting down to about 15 balls I set up the SC200 to approach mode where it gives a distance and you try to hit that distance.
This part was really fun and kept the practice interesting.
I really enjoyed the day. Wasn't many people on range and was just sooooo relaxing.
I hope to have at least 2 more practice sessions before we start our season here.
To say I'm excited for this year is an understatementJoshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played yesterday and hit my first ever Hole-In-One!!!!
I'm still flying high in the clouds.
138 yards with breeze in face, hit a solid 9 iron, ball bounced, checked a bit, and rolled into the hole. Funny thing is that when I hit it, I didn't feel good about the swing. Maybe I shouldn't feel good about swings more often!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
