Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Shot a 43 this morning. 7 bogeys, 2 pars. Hit 5 of 7 fairways. My two pars came on my two (by far) worst drives/missed fairways. That's golf for ya.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played my 84th round today. Shot a 86. 41 on the front and a 45 on the back. Sand shots killed me today. Oh well, it was nice just to me out playing.I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Got in a few rounds in one of my favorite places in the summer/fall, northern Michigan (cue the stupid Kid Rock song that you know is going through your head right now....).
Thanks to fistofrage for the Lochen Heath recommendation - it rained a little, but that just added to the ambiance. For my money, it's the best course in the immediate Traverse City area and the one to play if you find yourself there (Bay Harbor and Arcadia are a bit too far for me to consider being in the "Traverse City" area, although I've played Bay Harbor and it was great).
Also got in a round at the Bear, which I haven't played in over a decade and to be honest wasn't nearly the course I remember it being...maybe it's showing its age (or I am), but I could do without any of the Grand Traverse resort tracks and be okay with that.
Swing is still sort of a mess, but it started to get better toward the end. I have to say, playing actual rounds made me realize the value of mixing up range and course time. The range is great, but translating that to the course is key and that can only be done by getting out on the course and forcing yourself to incorporate the changes.
FYI, I was in the high 90's @ the Bear and low 90's at Lochen Heath, so I'm still a total hack. But I think it's coming around. (for reference, good for me is mid-80's and about as well as I ever usually play unless something weird is happening).Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Just ordered my first custom set of clubs after using a launch monitor to get fitted.
Went with Callaway's.
New Great Big Bertha 10.5 driver(don't have the same swing speed that I used to and had to go up from my current 9.0)
XR 3W
XR 3H
XR Irons
Odyssey Works Big T Blade Putter
Also got a new cart bag to boot. Only thing I have left to get will be new wedges that I'll pick up over the winter. Already have them picked out but figured I spent enough yesterday and will hold off til later. Going with the matte black finish Mack Daddy 3's
Needless to say I'm excited and can't wait for it all to arrive.

Glad you enjoyed LochenHeath. That course is meant to be played in the drizzle. You magically get transported to the birthplace of golf when you play there in the windy mist.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
New clubs finally arrived and what a difference. Hitting them about a club to club and a half longer than my previous Pings. Too bad the season is almost over. I may be able to get 3/4 more times before it's too cold for my taste.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread
101 rounds in as of today. I have flirted with breaking 80 a few times, but regularly shoot in the mid 80's. My putting has improved a lot this summer. I'm hoping to get at least 25 more rounds in by mid November!I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Anyone know of any free fantasy golf sites that allow private league customization like setting up values for various events, and having the league as more of a draft instead of pick em? I didn't really want to use the basic types like Yahoo or Golf Channel, and all the other good ones I came across required a fee.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Been a while since I posted so figured I'
d take a few moments to do a "state of the game" post
I generally have been getting out at least once a week. However I wasn't able to get out for about a month due to family issues.
Was able to play last Wednesday and am playing tomorrow morning at 8am.
My handicap has slowly been dropping and I now sit at 14.
Game has been flattening out lately as I haven't played or practiced much.
Weakest part of game is still my approach accuracy. DIstance is fine but I'm rarely right on target.
I'll get there soon enough I hope.
I did grab an Approach S2 (179.99 at BB but they have them on clearance for 132)
Had a 100 gift card (Got when I bought my daughter her new S6 Edge+ phone) so picked one up.
As much as I use my laser finder the watch is really pretty convenient especially on those blind shots I occasionally get.
The accuracy of it was great and really.. until I get accuracy down just knowing the F/M/B distances for me has actually lowered some stress as I can focus on an area rather than a spot.
Anyways hopefully tomorrow goes well.
On a side note wife has given permission (Mainly due to the amount of OT I've hammered out the past few months) to get new "everything" for next year if I want.
Pretty sure I'm going with Titleist for next season. We'll see.Joshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Got out yesterday. A rare December round of golf in Michigan. We played a 2 man scramble with the neighbors. My game had been in steady decline this fall due to a wicked case of golfers/tennis elbow that I developed late in the summer. It still hurt to swing the club, but didn't affect my swing too much. We birdied 4 out of the last 5 down the stretch to snatch the victory and close them out on the 18th, we went into the last hole up one. I was draining everything. Made 6 putts over 20 feet in the round and I was putting first so I didn't have a partner putt to read off of. Striping my drives and the wedge game was right on line. One hole I Hit a 275 yard drive and then stuck a 5 wood to 8 feet from 220. Missed the eagle putt though. Good times. Amazing that sometimes, a month off without practice is exactly what you need.
Now I have the golf itch bad again. Hopefully this will be a mild winter.Last edited by fistofrage; 12-14-2015, 11:57 AM.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
