Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I'm stoked: It's golfing weather on Christmas Eve in Connecticut. It's a little soggy, but it's plenty warm enough, and I won't be the only one out there. I'm not expecting much. It's been almost 3 months since I even picked up a club, and the range at the course I'm playing at is closed. All I ask is that I don't make myself look bad.Red Sox|Patriots|Celtics|UConnComment

Picked up a pair of the Nike Lunar Control 3's during my Boxing Day shopping today. Got them for 100$ Canadian.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Just got back from my range session using the new Nike shoes. These shoes are the best golf shoes that I've ever worn. They're so stable and really make your feet feeling like they're part of the ground beneath you. They allow you to really use the ground to create power and your lower body feels so stable.
I'm definitely going to pick up a white pair of these shoes. For anybody looking into getting a new pair of golf shoes, I'd 100% recommend checking these out.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Any of you guys know affordable (under $200) portable Launch Monitors? Very basic is fine, my dad just wants to hit balls and have an idea how far they are going (his eyesight isn't the greatest).Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Why don't you just get him a swing speed monitor that attaches to the club for around $30? Speed * loft will give you a pretty good idea how far the ball would travel on solid hits.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
My friends and I are planning a trip to Europe in late June/ early July for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament in France. One of our stops before heading to France is Scotland. One of my bucket list items has been to play a round of golf at St. Andrews. Well...
I wasn't able to secure a tee time there as the place is fully booked from March to October. I kind of figured it was going to be booked solid anyway. You have to book a year in advanced to play there. So I tried my second favourite course in Scotland, Carnoustie. It's played host to the Open Championship many times and this past year hosted the Senior Open Championship. I've exchanged a few emails back and forth with the staff there and it looks like I'll be playing a round there either June 25 or 26th 2016! I can't begin to explain how excited I'm going to be if I can secure a tee time!Last edited by SinisterAlex; 12-30-2015, 01:58 AM.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
That's awesome, that will feel like the shortest 18 holes of your life (time wise of course).
I did read a story recently that the Old Course is going to be opening up it's booking in the near future to make it easier to schedule tee times.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Yeah he wants the gadgets. I have the medicus swingspeed meter and it works great for me. He uses it and says "oh..cool" - I know he's definitely more interested in the gadgets for the sake of it. Retirement has allowed him to be a lot more free in his golfing decisions, lol.Comment

I read something about that a few months back as well. Not too sure if it's kicked in yet though.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played 18 holes on both XMas Eve and XMas - in the midwest, no less, sans jacket or windbreaker. Viva El Nino!!!!
Dare I say it, but the swing is starting to come around. Learning to properly release my hands through the ball has made an unbelievable difference in my entire swing. I no longer have to try to generate speed/power with my arms/shoulders, so I can now shorten up my swing, which means I don't come over the top as much any more...it's sort of all coming together. I mean, don't get me wrong, there are miles to go before I'm a consistently good ball-striker, but my slice is essentially gone and I will hit the occasional high draw. My miss is a really bad block out to the right now, but frankly, I know what causes that and I'm okay with it (for now...). I sort of wish I'd have had someone point out the hand-release thing to me 20 years ago!!!
Unfortunately, the other side of El Nino is rain in Cally for the forseeable future, so...it giveth and taketh away.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I use the Game Golf system..
----------------------------------------
Well I turned 50 this year.. Closer to the discounted rates ....
Haven't been around much as frankly I do very little gaming anymore and with work and family stuff I simply don't have much time. Now with winter officially here I'll play a bit more. Mainly going from TGC and Rory golf games to get some golf fix.
Anywho....
I decided (wifes blessing) to get some new toys.
I'll soon have the 716 AP1's (Should have within a couple weeks) Also have a 52 and a 58 degree SM5 wedge on the way.
I went with the 5I through AW as I use a Hybrid for 4I distance. (PING G15- LOVE that club)
Had to re-gap due to Titleist screwing with the lofts (PW is 43 and AW is 47) but it meant new toys so I'm fine with it (and I'm sure what Titleist wanted lol )
Went with the XP95 S300 shafts and the DG spinner shafts for the wedges.
Grips are the Golf Pride MCC plus 4 in Grey (Blue on wedges)
Last thing I'm doing is switching shaft on my driver(Still use the SLDR).... Hope to have that done within a few weeks.
I'm keeping my Callaway X-Hots and will use them at this course up the road that really is a cow field more than a course. About 25% chance there's a rock under the turf. lol
Will that's my "State of the Golf" reportJoshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Lol, I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on the 716s. Not that there is anything wrong with my 714s but I just like new. Have no plans to get away from my SLDR though. Been inside putting all winter, my stroke feels so good right now. Not sure how much golf I will be able to play this year though. Daughter wont turn 1 until August 2nd and work has been killing me as I have about 150 named accounts that I am in charge of. May just get the 716s next year...Moderator
