Gonna be playing on a course for the first time tomorrow! Trying out a 9 hole course first. The goal will be to not embarrass myself completely and/or not hurt anyone in the process. Looking forward to it!

Shot an ugly 44 today on 9 after work. It was the first time I played in the golf league for the company I am interning for this summer.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
You have to let me know how you like it after you use it for a few rounds. I've been holding off on purchasing one of the Nike Method putters for awhile now because of the new weighted putters. I'm not liking my current putter as much anymore, I need something with adjustable weights and there is no way I'm buying a Scotty.Moderator

Yes, I love gigagolf - they are my favorite place. They are great, man. You can even call them up and ask questions directly - they are that cool.
Remember, these irons are not made every year like your name brand irons - technology can increase, yes - but most of the time name brand irons just include an increase sleek design but usually the same advancement as the year before. Then you have branding with mark up which adds on an extra $200-$400.
My recommendation for you would be the TRX v.11 irons. It has a cavity back design (see here for explanation between the two if you didn't know already: http://golftips.golfsmith.com/blades...rons-2404.html) and is a pretty good price at $119.40 for 6 clubs. It has awesome reviews (78 total) mostly in the 5-star range and from 2013 as well.
Check them out - I can't post link because gigagolf uses java. Let me know - love gigagolf!Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I know the feeling man, sorry you're going through this! I know we swapped msgs about the swing method, etc - and often times it will take a couple days to weeks for you to get right at it. I know you don't want to post your video, but you'd be surprised of what the littlest thing another set of eyes can see. Even post it on golfwrx if you haven't already - that is where a lot of the guys are - including top PGA pros.
Things were great just after start of season and now I'm caught in between different philosophies.
I'm taking at least a week off to clear my head and then will get back to basics and go from there.
That's one thing about golf. You can go to different places and every one will contradict the other. I simply need to go back to my basic swing where I was at least hitting greens or around them, which again was pretty close to the method we discussed. It was just built around my swing. Going back to that after I clear the webs..Joshua:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Those look pretty good, and I was actually about to buy them, but I found this set from Pinemeadow on Amazon for only $130 and I can't get myself to justify spending basically the same amount for only the irons. Do you think this one would be about as good?STEAM PROFILE: STEAM_0:1:39676753Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Do you swing standard irons now? Reason for asking is you might need some customization if you are a taller/shorter player. I have purchased my irons, 3w, and3hybrid from Gigagolf and have nothing bad to say about their craftsmanship. It comes down to what you can afford.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
That -1 degree lie could be a big difference for you. However, if you need a complete set - then go for it. Primemeadow is good too, but I'm not sure how they compare to the TRX irons in terms of customer reviews, etc.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Yeah, I need a complete set. The one's I'm borrowing are very customized - 5-7 degrees off the lie and a couple of inches off the height - so it's difficult playing with them. These make it about $100 cheaper than if I got the TRX irons so it's probably worth it.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
So I shot a 59 on a par 28 9 hole course. Yikes! But honestly, for my first time being out there, it was a freakin' blast. I hit some pretty decent shots but of course my short game needs so much improvement. All in all, extremely fun and I cannot wait to get back out there.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Don't fret. If I remember correctly I was shooting in the 60s when I started out playing par 36s... you'll only get better. Focus on the chipping and putting. Chipping will save you so many strokes. At this point, try to get up and down. Don't try to pull over miracle shots at this age (hell I even shouldn't). Just hit short irons to stay in the fairway and don't always try to make every putt. You should just focus on two putting everything. When I started I did the complete opposite of everything I just mentioned.Comment

That's what I love about golf, you're never perfect at it. There's is ALWAYS something you can improve on. That and the terrible obsession of shooting a better score than your last round.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo
