Some of the older models are on Ebay for around $200.

      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Well I played for the last time here in South Carolina more than likely. I shot a 108. I'm going to consider that my starting point. Up until today I had allowed for some bending of the rules of golf and really was just hurting myself by letting me think I was better than I was. I am now playing completely legit by the rules and we will see where we go from here.

I had 34 putts today which isn't too bad, I only 3 putted 1 hole and I 1 putted a couple of holes. I need to work on my chipping. I lost a lot of shots from chips around the green.

I also have no idea how to play out of the sand but that is a different story.

I just realized I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for when it comes to golf clubs. Looking at the gigagolf irons, I can't tell any differences between any of them. They all look exactly the same to me except for the design on the back.

There are times where my wife really surprises me. She knows that I have been researching putters for about 2 months now. I was looking into the Nike Method Mid-night, but not gonna pay $269 for it. So she told me that her brother also wants a new putter and when I got my original Nike Method I gave him my Ping i5 putter. She told me that since the Method Core's were on sale for $119 (after another $20 off coupon) that I could get that one if I promised to give my old one to her brother again. I mean I could've sold it on eBay and made my money back, but I agreed because she actually went and did the research on the price of the Method Core's when I was talking about the midnight. So I am the proud new owner of this little number

Edit: As a side note it is driving me insane that nike golfs product registration website won't let me register anything purchased after December 31, 2012.

That is a smooth looking putter, but I just cant get a way from my Studio Scotty Cameron. I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable putting with anything else at this point.

Finally played a round last night. 43. Nothing worse than a 5, nothing better than a 4 and no doubles. Ho-hum.

              Decent first round for me.

Well we finished -1. We all played subpar. Yet we were only 5 back from winners.

And it's official. I've went from my best golf I've ever played in April to pretty much not having a clue right now. Think I may need to just reboot and leave the game for a few weeks then go from there.

I know it's 80% mental but I seriously don't know what I need to do to get my mind back in gear. Getting back to day shift will help in a week I guess.
A month ago it was grab a club and bang..putting or chipping. Now it's push right or digging a runway.

In April I thought "Yeah this is the year I really make strides" and yet here I am, lost.

So I think I will take some time off then do what I should have done a while back and get some lessons. I have so many swing thoughts in my mind from seeing different teachers online that I'm thinking I have an overload or something.

Glad I can just type these thoughts up to this group as my wife really doesn't get it lol

                Anways thanks for "listening"

Rob, those tour sticks can be bought at lowes or home depot for like $4 for 2; they are called driveway markers - good purchase eitherway as they've helped my alignment out significantly. If you really want to force yourself, you can stick them in the ground at an angle and make sure you're on plane coming down - yikes!
After reading through the thread, it seems you have a lot of experience with gigagolf. I'm currently looking at the $120 irons. Which of these do you think would be best for a beginner like me? I've only played 9 holes and I shot 54, if that helps any.

I'm worried about buying one and then finding out later that it's outdated, or finding out that it's geared towards better players than me, causing me to have trouble with them.

Yes, I love gigagolf - they are my favorite place. They are great, man. You can even call them up and ask questions directly - they are that cool.

Remember, these irons are not made every year like your name brand irons - technology can increase, yes - but most of the time name brand irons just include an increase sleek design but usually the same advancement as the year before. Then you have branding with mark up which adds on an extra $200-$400.

My recommendation for you would be the TRX v.11 irons. It has a cavity back design (see here for explanation between the two if you didn't know already: http://golftips.golfsmith.com/blades...rons-2404.html) and is a pretty good price at $119.40 for 6 clubs. It has awesome reviews (78 total) mostly in the 5-star range and from 2013 as well.

Check them out - I can't post link because gigagolf uses java. Let me know - love gigagolf!

I know we swapped msgs about the swing method, etc - and often times it will take a couple days to weeks for you to get right at it. I know you don't want to post your video, but you'd be surprised of what the littlest thing another set of eyes can see. Even post it on golfwrx if you haven't already - that is where a lot of the guys are - including top PGA pros.

You have to let me know how you like it after you use it for a few rounds. I've been holding off on purchasing one of the Nike Method putters for awhile now because of the new weighted putters. I'm not liking my current putter as much anymore, I need something with adjustable weights and there is no way I'm buying a Scotty.
