    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Played 9 holes last night. Started out with a triple bogey. Crushed my drive but pulled it left. Pin high left of the green in the green side bunker. Bladed it out about 100 yards over the hole. Got a 7.

From there on out it was pretty good. Finished with a 39. Should have been a 38 but I 3 putted from a fairly simple up hill 20 foot birdie attempt.

GameGolf, just updated their software again, and now they are giving a really good view of your approach shots into the green now, they also do it by yardage, so I can see from 100 and in, and just about any yardage inbetween. Yesterday was the first day I finally met someone else who had one. It was strange, but pretty neat to hear someone elses feedback.

So close to getting under par. Really need to figure out how to not over think things when I have a chance to shoot under par. The pressure started to build and I was trying to place every shot. After I had no chance to shoot under par I started playing normal again.

Man, I do the same thing. From like the 10th or 11th tee on, I step to the tee box and think to myself, "alright, Storm. you're under par so far. Don't **** it up."

            Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Went up to Northern Michigan and played in a Ryder Cup match which matched up 2 teams of 12. 63 holes. 7 matches. It started out with a 2 person scramble, then best ball for the first 18. Then Alternate Shot, then scramble. Scramble and Best Ball. And then 9 hole singles match.

So there were 48 points total. The other team clearly had the better players including multiple guys who have played in state amateur events and can go pretty low. We have a couple really good players, a couple 5 or so handicappers. 4 or 5 10 to 12 handicappers and 3 15 or so handicappers so we really had to try to match us up in every match to even give us a shot.

To make a long story short, we battled but we were 4 down heading into the singles matches that was worth 12 points.

Our bottom 3 guys pulled out 1 win, so we were down 5 with 9 matches left. Inexplicably we started picking them off. The guy in my cart beat the other teams captain 5 and 3. And I was up 1 heading into the last hole, a 550 par 5. Hit Driver, 3 wood to about 70 yards out and then put it just short of the green as I was trying to leave myself with am uphill putt. My opponent found the bunker, just got out, putt it on the green and then missed his putt to give me the match. So our cart picked up 2 points there.

In the end, it came down to our best guy who was up 1 putting a 12 footer up hill for birdie and their guy putting down hill 9 feet for birdie. Our guy just misses and they make it. So they push on the match. After recounting all the matches.........A tie. 24-24. We went 6-1-2 in the final 9 matches. They held onto the cup because they were defending champions.

24 guys, Seven 9 hole rounds and it comes down to the final group on the final green. Incredible. I figure we all swung the club roughly 35 times per 9 because of scrambles, alternate shots, etc. That would put us at 5,880 strokes were taken. Any one of those could have changed the outcome.

I lipped out a birdie putt on 18 and left a birdie putt on the edge on 16 on the previous round that would have given us half a point. But everyone could say could have would have....

Overall I went 4-3 and that puts me at 7-3-3 for the 2 years I have played in it.

Got my new shaft for my driver. Its a Graffaloy ProLaunch X flex (I think its 65 grams...i think).

Previously, I had Stiff 55 grams stock shaft that came with my R1

Played my home course on sunday morning at 7 am (I work nights, 7 am has been bed time before lol) Surprisingly shot an 85. The back was better than the front, but it didn't feel like it was a decent round I thought I was pushing 88 easily.

Just picked myself up the new Callaway Big Bertha Alpha and a new set of Callaway Apex irons. Got a sweet 25% off both.

Took the driver out on Sunday and shot an 84, which wasn't too bad considering I hit 4 drives OB and 1 in the water. Driver is nice, but I need about 2 days to get it set to where I can hit it straight.
Haven't taken the irons out yet, but plan on taking the out this weekend, if the weather holds.

So my new shaft is absolutely butter.

I feel like i can swing all out (or 90% anyways) and not worry about losing it right. Fired a handful of darts yesterday morning.

Also I was about 4 total inches away from jarring two aces

I ended up playing 27 holes on the same 9 :/
And did start losing my driver right near the end...but Ill attribute that to laziness and me being really hungry lol

                        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

It's Thursday, so I'm going to play in the weekly 9 hole tournament at a local course again. (The one I mentioned last week where it's on a handicap points system.)

Seeing as how I accrued 22 points last week, my necessary score to qualify will go up from 21 to 22, but that's very doable. Hoping to do a little better than where I finished last week. I imagine I don't have to worry about the guys that shot 6 points and 8 points over their needed score because there scores will now go up, and I can't imagine they could beat those new scores by very many points.

                          Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Haven't posted in a while as there wasn't much to share that wasn't depressing.
                          However that's changed

After deciding to rebuild swing from the ground up towards the end of last year and a ton of range work I'm very happy where I'm heading.
My main issues before the switch were consistency in ball striking and distance control.

                          My issues were:
Coming to much inside out and the tendency to want to "attack" the ball instead of a nice smooth swing where the ball is just in the way.
I was also loosing my lag and tended to always end up with a "Scoop" swing and very rarely took a divot.

After many hours working on posture and balance as well as drills to maintain lag, my ball striking has improved tremendously. It was a struggle at first getting my old ways in the trash but after what felt like months of wasted golf time, I'm so glad I went through it.

Currently working on getting my distance control down as I now have an actual consistent swing now.
Thinking long and hard about the Game Golf now also.

Anyways Yesterday we went out for and afternoon round and I shot a 14 over (Par 70 course)
I lost 1 ball that was not offline much but ended up in a area with 3 foot grass

Can't say in words how excited I was after the round. The work up to it wasn't fun but the results of just stopping/assessing/ and making the decision to hit the breaks and put the work in was the best decision I've ever made.

Honestly it's as accurate as you want it to be for GIR. I tend to mark my score card with the green locations (fc=front center, bl=back left, etc) for fairways you just have to remember when you are on the egde if you were in reg or not.

But IMO it's very accurate 95‰ of the time. Sometimes it's gets confused if you for example hit into another fairway and play a shot it may mistake that shot for a different hole.

The new stuff they added this past week is awesome. Really intuitive graphical display from tee to green now.

But yes every round needs to be edited a little bit. For me sometimes on the back 9 I will forget to mark myself on the tee. So I need to add a shot or add my penalty strokes.

Played at this course called Coyote Preserve. $39 for 18 and a cart.

                                Palmer design
It was absolutely Beautiful! A few holes reminded me of Bay Hill. The only thing that we had to complain about was that they didnt mow the greens tight enough. But we guess that it would make them too difficult for the average golfer (especially since this place was in the middle of nowhere)

Anyways, Rough start.... quad on the first. lol

Shot 45 on the front but hit the last 3 greens in reg.

2 Birdies on the back, but a triple and another quad ruined that. Another 45

Hit the driver exactly where I wanted except for 3 holes (hole #1 & 10)
Including a 350 yard bomb on #18. (a par 5 that reminds me of 18 at bay hill slightly)
                                Hit most irons right :/
Divot was left of my line and looked to be square, but i guess my clubface is wide open haha

Still working on my flop shots, but my short game was solid and bunker game was too!
Putting was awful, pace and line all day was terrible. It was like playing a mountain course (so im told)

All in all, very fun round at a gem of a course. And the best part was that I made it to work on time lol
