    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I’ve been playing probably the best I’ve ever had ... up until yesterday. 3 holes in to my round yesterday was the same..... 4th hole was like I’ve never swung a club before. Same with my range session today. Off to my coach tomorrow to diagnose what’s going on

      Bummer but understandable.

Gonna be a tough spring here. I still don't quite understand why golf courses are shutting down; I mean, groups of people are <4 and aren't within 250 yards of each other on average. It's outdoors. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but then, not a lot of what is going on lately makes a whole lot of sense...

I agree...and worst case, let people at least play in “groups of one” if they want to get out and enjoy..

In our case it was our decision, well the main guy who heads it up.
But we agreed. Will be back at it next year.
Just didn't feel right leaving families behind to deal with the crap while we went away for a week.

Before all hell broke loose, my SM8’s showed up. First time playing a Vokey wedge in 7 years. Put them to work today. Love my 54D grind. Fired an 82. Never had a shot at breaking 80. Felt like I should a 92. Driver was as good as I could ask. Wedges and putting was on. Hit my 4 and 7 woods well. My irons though, they didn’t like me today.

What finish is on those SM8's? They look nice.
Still loving my SM6's I didn't like the feel of the SM7's but haven't tried the 8's yet. I'm due to a couple new ones.

We played yesterday. I've only broken 80 once. A 78 a while back.
Going into 17 a par, par finish would give me a 79.

My approach on 17 was withing 3 feet. Missed the birdie putt.. jeesh.
Then proceeded to double 18 for an 81.

The black finish. I had a custom black HiToe, so I needed them to match. Black shafts in all. They look sharp. I need to clean them after today. SM7's were alright feeling. The idea with the SM8's having a forward CG is really interesting, I like the feel of them. The big thing for me was the 54.12 D Grind. I'm a divot taker, and need as much bounce as I can get, but still have heel and toe relief to open it up. It matches up well with my HiToe. The gap wedge is a 46° bent to 48° to get more bounce, that's whatever, just wanted to match it, since I don't like most gap wedges out of iron sets, just in case I want to work it.

My thought on wedges are to switch them out every 50-60 rounds, I used to switch midseason, and even more frequently if you practice more. That was one of my two knocks on my Honma's last year, I only played like 40-50 rounds and they were cooked. Plus I needed to play more bounce this year anyways. When they add more bounce options, I'll go back to them.

I get guys don't want to spend $140-$170 per wedge each year. I should be hyping new product, since it's my job, but if you're playing a lot, find some SM6's or something prior like that on sale that will have fresh groves. That's key. I've gone through five gap wedges, seven sand wedges, and six lobs wedges in the last 5 years. I hit flighted down sand wedges from the fairway a lot, so I wear that out in 35-40 rounds. 60° I hit out of greenside rough and bunkers, so that wears in like 50 rounds, I held onto my original HiToe a little too long before I replaced it cause I just had it dialed in even though it was cooked. Then put the black HiToe in late last season for like 2 rounds. But I also went from playing 100+ rounds in 2016, 17, and 18, to playing 50 rounds tops last year.

                  I'm such a nerd.

Since our trip got canceled the wife gave go ahead to order my irons.
Will be a while before they ship but I have MP20's on the way.

Hope to have in a month or so.

That should do it for purchases. My wedges will need replaced by next year but I can get through this season with them.

I was supposed to be in Arizona this week for some golf, obviously that never happened. I haven't hit a golf ball in a good two months now. I feel like I'm dying a bit inside lol.

MB, MMC, or HMB? It's a great product line.

I definitely hoard putters, those I never sell. And driver shafts, never know when you need a change. Hah.

                                And true about the shafts.

I've kept my last 2 putters I've had since the last one.
Really need to get rid of a couple bags first then... well probably that's it but at least it will look like I'm trying lol.

Got email today saying Mizuno centers should be back up by May... we'll see.
