My golf game is in a good spot, I am in the single digits finally at a 9.7, and that has to go towards shortening my golf swing completely. I hit the ball just as far, if not farther, and get better compression on it as a result. Just have to shore up my chipping and putting.
Played earlier today with my Dad and sister's boyfriend, who had one of his best rounds ever - shooting 80.

This was our home course, so my dad felt right at home. After the round, as we were driving away, he stopped suddenly and was greeted by all his golf league buddies. He was just beaming. I couldn't help smiling and just told my sister's bf, "Let's leave it to hangout with his friends now...", and off we went. That was a great moment.

In terms of my game. I tried to get too technical on the front nine. Trying to hit too inside-out and ended up pull hooking because I tend to stand up on my back toe on the downswing. This is why I forced myself to take half-swing golf shots towards the end of the season last year. Lo and behold, the back 9, I shot much better - but my driving was unreal. A birdie to end on #18 as well never hurt.

      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Was only able to play 9 holes Saturday due to rain but shot 47 which was better than I honestly expected. I just couldn't find the distance, nor accuracy with my irons into the green. Club long or club short or often times missed left (slice/push as I'm left handed)

I putted extremely well which was disappointing in the fact that if I could've gotten to the green better, I would've had a much better round, but thus is golf.

All in all though I had a good time and the weather was great.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

My irons have actually gotten worse the more I play, there is something I am doing wrong but just can't seem to put my finger on it. Normally I would just go to the range and figure it out but with the clubhouse being closed due to COVID, I can't go on the range. Luckily for me, the range opens tomorrow so I have a day to figure out what I am doing wrong before league play.

What kills me is that my putting and driving have never been better. I am easily hitting 80% of my fairways with an average of about 250-260 yards. I have played about 8 full rounds this year and I have only lost 3 balls. That alone is keeping my scores in the low 90s but I have almost no confidence with any of my irons.

If you could put it all together at the same time, you'd be playing in a different class of golfers than your league LOL

Seriously, though, it's almost impossible to have it all going at the same time. At least one phase of the game is not working in any given round - if your driving is great, your short game stinks. If your irons are on, your putter is off. It's always something with this game....

First Rd back yesterday, 86 with 40 putts. Disgusting really but was first time at the course and was just enjoying playing golf again.

You could have shot 100 and it wouldn't have mattered....being out there is its own reward at this point.

I want to play a round of golf and walk away with zero regrets, just once before I die.

Playing 9 holes with my dad tonight, meeting up again at a course about halfway between where I live and where my parents live. And I did book a tee time at Lawsonia (the Links course) for next Tuesday, at the cost of just $1 as part of their "Get Outdoors" name-your-price promotion. Rain is in the forecast, so (fingers crossed) hopefully that changes between now and then!

Got to play Dearborn CC yesterday. I played there once last year. That golf course has the largest greens of any course I've ever played. Had a nice little money match going with some buddies. Played my best round in the last few years. Fired a 41 on the front and was fine with that, but bogeyed 10 and we lost the hole, just fired me up to throw a 38 on the back. I was hyped. My new Scotty was on fire. Only putt he missed was on 18 from 20ft that would have won us a couple more bucks. But overall great round, and good win.

Now today I played a place called the Orchards where the Michigan State Am or Open, can't remember, has been played at. Greens were insanely fast. Wish I would have put my Spider X in for the Scotty, just cause the insert on that works better for me on incredibly fast greens. But I shot an 85 today, nothing overly notable, just grinded.

Went out for the first time this season. Almost whiffed the first shot, but had a couple birdies and a bunch of pars. Wasn't really keeping track but probably would have broke 80 today. The first round is always a fun time!!

Lawsonia (Links) lived up to the reputation yesterday...what a wonderful course. Because it was about 90 degrees outside here in Wisconsin, and thanks to the "name your own price" Tuesday promotion, the course was jam packed. Despite that, everyone could social distance and I still managed to get my round in in about 4 hrs.

Shot 101...the bunkers and elevation changes around the greens are no joke! Could have easily broken 100 if it didn't take me several shots (several times!) to get out of a couple of the bunkers.

Even when greens fees are normal ($45 weekday walking, $70 on weekends, or you can pay $100 weekday/$110 weekend and play all day long...Twilight rates are available after 3 p.m., too), this course is an amazing value. If you're ever in the Green Lake, WI area, treat yourself to a round or two at Lawsonia.
