If you haven’t played the Legends courses yet you can’t go wrong there. Also The Heritage, Diamondback, Oyster Bay.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

I have always heard those courses play absurdly slow. I will certainly look into it. Last year I played Kings North, TPC, Barefoot Love, and Grande Dunes - Resort Club. I am staying 3 days longer this time around so I intend to play quite a bit more. i would love to play all four Barefoot courses but that would just be too much, Those are really nice courses but not for $140 a round.

I am looking at these courses:
          Founders Club at Pawleys Island
          TPC of Myrtle Beach
          Wild Wing Avocet
          MBN - King's North
          Pawleys Plantation
          MBN - West Course
          River Club Golf Course
          Indian Wells

It was wet and chilly but I played 9 holes this morning on a links course. I shot 51

I couldn’t putt and my iron distances were off. I didn’t hit a single green in regulation.

I did hit all 7 fairways off the tee though.

Not a good 9 holes but it felt good to play.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I got out there Jan 5th, which has got to be the all-time record for earliest round in the Midwest (for me). I mean, it wasn't even slightly chilly - I was out there in a long-sleeve T-shirt, light overshirt, and light athletic top (not sure what to call it but it's one of those Nike stretch pullover things). The course was packed! It's a weird (but welcome) bonus to get a round in like that this time of year.

Bought my first set of clubs over the weekend.

My dad has a friend who had a complete set (sans putter) of Cobra Max clubs. He wasn't happy with them and was willing to sell them to me cheap. Tested them out at the range today, and I hit fairly well overall. Guess I'm going to give this golf thing a shot this year.

After a tough couple months I decided to gut my bag again. A driving range owner who I’ve become pretty good friends over the past few years placed an order for the new Ping G410 irons for me. They came in today before release date and he let me pick them up this evening.

I hit a small bucket just to see how they performed and I can’t believe how easy these are to hit. Didn’t hurt that he sold them to me at his cost. He told me not to tell anyone because he could get in trouble with Ping.

Looking forward to a better 2019 on the course.

So what your saying is that I need to befriend a driving range owner. I tried Last year's Ping irons and really liked them. I ended up going with the Titleist AP2 but i would have been happy with either.

                      So frustrating

60 degree weather in February around here but can’t play because of rain and the courses are so saturated already.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve been taking advantage of the range. Until I got my clubs yesterday I have been hitting wedges and putting nonstop. My short game has always been solid and I’m hoping to keep it that way.

I thought I would share this funny story. I consider myself between a average golfer/weekend hacker. This means I could shoot 80 something or 90-100 something during any giving round.

I live in Knoxville TN, and was at a course call Three Ridges with a buddy hitting on the range. This course usually has decent golfers playing, but not great. So we’re on the range and some guy sets up next to us. He looks like he just stepped off a PGA course. (Slacks, polo, nice bag) were clowning him to ourselves. Of course, he’s killing the ball and we quickly change our tune.

We decide after a bucket to play 9 holes. The guy next to us had just tee’d off when we got to hole one. It’s a dog leg right par 4. After a few minutes, he’s riding back up the fairway asking if he could hit another ball, he drove the green and lost his ball. We were like WTF! So of course, we shanked our shots after that display of his 6 iron flying over the trees on the dog leg.

Now! We’re at our 3rd shots in sight of the green and he just putted out and was standing on the next tee. The next hole was backed up. After we finally make it to the green, some random guy is yelling at us from the fairway asking if he could join us. We said sure, knowing we didn’t want too. This guy nearly holes his second shot. I’m like, damn this is gonna be a bad round. We finish the hole and sent this guy ahead with the guy ahead of us. We gave him the ol “we’ll slow you down bit”. Due to the course being backed up, we catch-up with these dudes about 3 holes later and find out they’re in town preparing for the Knoxville Open held at Fox Den country club.

These guys were semi pro I guess. I’ve been to pro tournaments, but never actually played with someone that good. We finished the 9 holes with these dudes and it was amazing. I’ve never seen golf shots being struck that amazingly up close. Although we stunk it up, it was a pretty neat experience. I’ve never laughed so hard at every shot they hit. I just couldn’t believe how good they were and was trying to make it to the PGA.

G410's are an incredible iron this year. I'd put it towards the top in their iron category. And yep, Ping is very strict on their pricing. They actually set up stings to try and see if accounts will cut a deal on them, and will pull or suspend the account if they do. Touchy company.

What's up with that M6 headcover? They're insanely good this year. Put my order in for my M6, but the shaft I want is backordered a little bit.

After all these years with Cobra driver/woods in my bag I finally switched to TM.

Spent some serious time the past couple weeks hitting the demos from TM and Cobra and from the numbers coupled with the feel I decided to switch over to TM-M6’s. Talk about hot off the face lol.

That’s the 3w in the pic, driver came this past Wednesday and I picked up the 5w last night. The only thing I didn’t gut from my bag was my Cleveland CBXwedges which are a 56 & 60.

I may play like crap this year but I’ll have some of the nicest equipment lol. Lord knows I hope that’s not the case or the boys are gonna rip me good.
