    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Stopping after work to play the Par 3 course I grew up on. I do this when an aspect of my iron play is out of whack, or my short game. Hope I can find my swing/distance on iron play so that I can play much better this upcoming weekend.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Once a year, me and my group of buddies (12 of us total) go to a stay and play course in Sarnia, Ontario (right next to Michigan) and we go 6v6 in various formats over the course of four days for a trophy we had made for us.

We've been doing it since 2009 and it's an absolute blast. I am slightly worried though. Normally I gear up for this and start shooting in the low 80's going into this tourney, sometimes breaking 80. At the moment, my last few rounds were 89, 81, 86, 84, 88 and 89...not quite the consistency I'm looking for.

Playing one more round this Wednesday as part of a $100 bet and then Friday the tourney starts. Here's hoping the miracle round in the 70's pops up.

That's very cool man. My last golf trip was sort of the same. We all chipped in 40.00 and then every day we had a winner.
First day I won 50.00 and was riding high.. after that I missed the money list the rest of the way lol.. Very fun though.

        And....
after forcing myself to not touch a club since last Tuesday we have a 9am tee time tomorrow.
I will go out this evening just to hit a small bucket but nothing extreme.

That sounds like alot of fun, my friend. We don't have any money on the tournament itself but as part of our stay and play, we get unlimited golf so the afternoon rounds are usually filled with the 3 B's....beers and bad bets

          Good luck tomorrow!

What ball does everyone play? I played Chrome+ for years until Callaway discontinued it, and I couldnt find a good Callaway replacement(and maybe I was a bit mad at their bs marketing tactics) and have been switching between the Srixon QStar and the Bridgestone E5.

            Any thoughts?

I found some refurbished ProV1x's on Amazon, and they seem brand new. I got two 12 packs for $15.99 each. Great deal, and the ball plays well because, you know, it's a Titleist.

If I had to use one ball that I would take with me into a match or round that meant something, I'd go with the ProV1 every time. It's pricey though.

For my money, the TaylorMade Project A ball is phenomenal for the price. Does most of what the top tier balls do for significantly less.

My ball of choice will always be the Titleist DT Solo, now called the DT Trusoft. Has a solid feel on the greens and off the putter, while still being a low spinner for the long game. Cheaper than most as well.

                      ProV1X

I pick up the four for three personalized deal every year.
Four dozen balls usually last a season for me.

I play these when playing a "lose a bunch of balls" course:

                      Tailormade rocketballz urethane

Very nice ball that feels pretty similar to the Prov1, imo.

So far, I can't find anything better than Taylormade TPX. I still want to try the Chrome Soft and Snell MTB, but for now I am 100% satisfied with the TPX.

I use Srixon Z stars and Pink Callaway supersofts. Or whatever pickups I find.

I like to outdrive everyone by 30 yards using pink golf balls. Honestly, supersofts are really good for a cheap ball.

Really it doesn't matter though. All the top tier balls play basically the same in my book.

I actually just switched it up. I have a few rounds coming up, and one tournament amongst friends, so I grabbed a double pack of Callaway Diablo Tours for my regular game, and a box of Srixon ZStars for the day of the tourney(or when I'm hitting solid)

I just can't get a round in this week before the weekend. Darn corporate leagues forcing me to play 9 holes, no thanks. I hate just playing 9 holes. Like if I were to shoot 30 something for 9, that would be even more incentive to keep playing in order to reach whatever milestone I have.

                              Anyone else feel this way?

Oh, absolutely. I hate playing 9. If I shoot well, it makes me want to play the back 9 to see what it would end up. If I shoot terribly, I want to play the back to fix the problem. Its a no-win for me...
