    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

61 rounds in the book so far. My lowest round was a 77 and my highest was a 98. My index is 12.2. Lately my game is all over the place, however my putting is getting better and I'm actually enjoying putting again.
I am the lesson after the fall.

Somehow shot an 80 despite shanking the ball 4 times today. Driving with my 3-wood since my driver is just not up to par right now. Realized my grip was getting weaker for some reason, so I strengthened it, and also adjusted my distance from the ball a bit. Seemed to have helped, too bad I didn't realize that till the 17th hole. Made some great putts though.

Played better than the previous round on Thursday. Have started to turn my wicked slice into a baby fade. Hit some nice iron shots, hit some awful ones.

My newest conundrum has been when I get close to the green. The highest lofted club in my bag is a PW which is somewhere in the 45 degree range. Looking into getting a couple of wedges. Been thinking 52, 56, 60.

            I have a PW that's 45°, an AW that's 50°, a sand wedge that's 54° and a LW that's 60°. I've been wanting to replace the 54 with a 55 but unless I'm willing to spend big bucks, there's just not many 55° SW's out there.

To the poster a few up, if your highest lofted club is a PW, you need to grab at least two more, ideally three. You save most of your strokes pitching, chipping and putting and you're really handicapping yourself having a 45-47 degree club as your only legitimate shirt game club.

I played 2 rounds recently. One yesterday and one Thursday. Not going to lie, only having said PW around the greens with chipping, sand shots, and pitching was a bit of a nightmare.

The good news about starting from scratch with these is, you can grab entry level wedges from all the big club makers for well less than $100 on sale usually. They're not going to allow you to spin it all that great or do anything fancy, but just having the different loft options is going to make a massive difference in your ability to get up and down.

I am trying to imagine trying to get out of any green side bunker with only a PW and I'm getting cold sweats just thinking about it lol. I salute you, my friend. You're far braver than I am

If Seve can do it with a 3 iron, I should be able to do it with a PW.

                  I kid, I kid.

Amazon has Mizuno JPX wedges for 60 a piece.

                    Hahahaha touché my friend!

                    My recommendation? If you're gonna grab two, grab a 52 and a 58, if you're gonna grab three, go 60, 56, 52. Ideally you have a 60, 55 and 50 but that's a difficult combination to get.

                    Good luck, Seve!

Great great choices! That's a ridiculous deal, when you think about some of the top tier wedges running you that much individually.

I think you'll see a big difference in your scores going forward. Congrats, my friend!

Thanks. I plan on playing again this Thursday. Hopefully the clubs will be in by then. 100 yard and closer will probably be a new outlook.

Got out yesterday for the first time in a while...sucked. Just could not find the center of the face all day. Terrible day.

I guess it happens and you just try to forget about it, but man...given how well I'd been hitting it in recent weeks, I just don't understand how it all goes to pot sometimes. I was a bit sore from running/lifting the day prior, but honestly I don't think that was it. I think I'm just not there yet with my swing.

I have had four good rounds in a row, and then I played today. Oh boy, it was terrible. The heat got to me and frustrated me a bit, but I got on a double bogey run like no other.

What do you do to get yourself mentally back in a round?

                                Beer.

So we won the club team championship today. Didn't know it at the time since we weren't playing with the team that finished 2nd, but I made a 30-foot putt on the last hole for the win to avoid a playoff.
