    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I'd love a day or two of rain. Everywhere in New England is really burned out.

I played the same 9 hole track Friday and today. Played horrifically on Friday and shot a 47. Played reasonably well this evening and shot a 45. Who said this game is fickle?

All of a sudden I can hit my driver consistently about 240 and controllably straight. But my usually strong 8I-GW is very erratic, I'm not getting down on them and thinning them and also pulling them left. Need to go hit a bucket with the short irons and try to work it out.

It's always that way, isn't it? You start improving one shot, then a reliable shot starts failing.

Today's the day! I'm playing TPC River Highlands with my uncle! I've never been so excited for a round of golf. My goal is to break 90, which should be manageable if I judge the green speeds well, since this is a par 70 course.

Played on Saturday at my favorite course again and shot 105. My iron play is so out of whack, its not even funny. I need to spend time at the range judging the distances better, because I was long or short again all day.

Not only was my iron play bad but my short game was poor as well. Leaving myself 20+ putts for par when I would end up either 10 yards long or 10 yards short. Very frustrating round.

Brightside was that I drove the ball exceptionally well and putted very well.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Leaving in about an hour to meet the guys. We tee off at 2:30.
Getting there early enough to hit small bucket. I'm pretty optimistic about today so we"ll see.

Had one of those Zen 9s where I knew exactly where the ball was going when I was over it and shot a -1 35 on the back nine yesterday. Unfortunately I took a triple on the front on the way to a 43.

Had two rounds this weekend in the mid 80's.
First round could've been special, but I missed 4 or 5 putts from inside 6 feet.

Shot 94 today. I didn't drive the ball well at all, which was what I was confident in going into the round, and the thick rough didn't help my approaches. I started with a 25 foot par saving putt at 1, and made clutch shots down the stretch at the four holes that usually determine the Travelers Championship every year, the drivable par 4 15th, short par 3 16th, the daunting 17th, and the long 18th.

Back from that tournament I do with my buddies. I played pretty poorly overall, going 1-3 over the four days of matchups but my team retained the trophy by winning 8.5 - 5.5. It's the first 3-peat in the eight years we've been doing this.

I can't seem to figure out my driver anymore, to the point that I used to be one of the best in our group to one of the worst. It's driving me crazy, no pun intended.

That's our photo after the win. Good times, regardless of personal results.

Well.. same ole.. freaking... head issues....lol
                      Here's my scoring:
Front: Bogey, triple, bogey, par, double (then settled a bit) par, par, par, par
Back: Double, par, par, par, bogey, 6 over (so whatever the hell that's called), bogey, par, par= 45 back
                      Total 87 (par 70 course)
Take away the 2 blowups and maybe just for kicks.. sink a birdie... I'd be pretty happy...

                      sigh.....

So I played Saturday with the new clubs. Loved the irons and the 5 hybrid. However, my driving was a nightmare. Slice after slice, after slice, after slice. It was a struggle to keep the ball straight off of the tee.

Good times as always. This game is pretty fun.

So I got home from my two week Europe trip last night. I unfortunately was unable to play golf in Scotland like I had planned but I did manage to walk all 18 holes at the St Andrews! What a magical place for any golf fan to go to.

I took loads of photos on my DSLR of the course which I still have to go through. Once I go through them and find the best ones, I'll do a write up for you guys about the experience and what the course is actually like in person and post the photos on here. I'll try to get it up in the next couple days.

My plan to play 9 holes after work got rained out yesterday evening. Can't play tonight. May and try to play tomorrow night as I don't have a tee time for this weekend.
