Randy, you think those DNA's are comfortable, don't ever put the Freestyle's on. Far and away the best golf shoe I have ever worn.

Played Friday... Had 2 7's and an 8. Finished with an 85.

I've been looking at some topics online about how to handle and avoid having the meltdowns.

One of the thoughts is to always have a pre-shot routine to help calm and "wash away" the last shot. This is something I need to work on and get better at. I know I tend to rush (while irritated) and just compound the issue.

I'm playing 9 am Monday and probably a noonish round Tuesday. Going to have some quiet time at range tomorrow and force myself to use routine before each shot.

Anyone want to share any thoughts or give some guidance in this area?

I'm with you, man. I've never broke 80, but that's my goal for the rest of this summer. I have only golfed about 3 times in the last 5 years, so I probably have some work cut out for me.

My biggest problem mentally is that I can go out and shoot 85 with no practice (actually had an 85 my first round this year with the long layoff), but the more I play and *try* to get better, I just hang around 85. Even if I am feeling more confident with more play, the score doesn't seem to change.

I also suffer from your typical blowup hole, but mine is a little different. It's usually a tweener pitch/chip that gets in my head. If I'm having a good round, I will almost always hit a 3ft flub that makes me want to snap my club over my knee. Then, shrug my shoulders, and blow a chip 25ft past the hole - three putt.

This blowup is typical on 200yard par 3s that I miss the green.

Also picked up a really cheap Dunlop Invicta 7 iron because I absolutely suck at hitting with irons. Going to use it basically to get my form and stroke down.

When /if they get to 100.00 or less I may make it a X-Mas gift or something for next year.
Wife got me the DNA's on sale as she knew I wasn't getting for myself.
I've always had an issue about that kind of money for any kind of shoe lol

However.. so far very well worth it.

I'm having a different issue entirely...I can't seem to gain any sort of consistency in my game right now. I'll go from shooting an 81 on a 6700 yard course like I did last Thursday to shooting an 89 on a 5900 yard course like I did yesterday.

It all begins and ends with my tee shot. My putting and chipping is the same its always been, a little better than average (30-34 putts a round) my iron and wedge play has honestly never been better but way too often I'm hitting a great iron or wedge shot in to a green trying to save par with that putt because I've either taken a penalty off the tee or might as well have because I had to chip out sideways.

Very frustrated to say the least.

              Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Made it to the US Open on Sunday. Got to watch lots of good golf, but damn was it hot. Missed some spots with sunscreen and got burned a bit. There are no more trees at Oakmont except along the edges of the 1st and 18th holes, really. The only saving grace was the generally low humidity. My biggest takeaway was just how impressive the ball flies when the pros tee off with a driving iron. I don't use one myself, but I feel like after watching those guys I should add it to my bag.

Last three rounds I've played have gradually improved (5 strokes each), mostly thanks to my short game shaking off the rust. Still adjusting a bit to my new irons, but honestly I don't think I'm a big fan of them overall. I think I'll trade them in next year and upgrade to something with a bit more quality. That said my distances are greatly improved over my previous set, and I've found myself hitting way too long with most of the clubs. At least on my home course I can completely ignore my PW as my second shots are almost always a short or gap wedge distance.

For those struggling with accuracy, one of the big things I've noticed, especially with my driver, is getting my hips through ahead of my hands. As long as I do that I can really send it with consistency.

Playing Saturday morning at 7:54 am at my favorite course. Love the early morning tee times.

Just want to hit the ball solidly. Not worrying about score, just want to find consistency in my swing and putting. If I shoot 80 or 100 I really don't care.

Brought my clubs to South Dakota. Hope to sneak on a course, but may just get to the driving range.

When I tee it up on Monday, I will be playing my 45th round of the season. I like the direction my game is taking. My coach has me swinging in a nice repeatable motion that doesn't hurt my back as much as my old swing. Now if I get my putting inline with the rest of my game, I'll be a happy golfer. My average score is 84 and I know with a few adjustments to my putting, I should get my scores consistently under 80.
I am the lesson after the fall.

I shot 103 this morning. My iron play was atrocious. I was either long or short, including my wedge, which normally I stick dead on the green. Just an overall bad round. Only highlight of the day was draining two par putts from 40+ feet.

Lol, you said you didn't mind what the score was!

I'm right there with you though.
114 and it would've been worse if not for the 8 stroke cap per hole my group plays with.
This course was so unforgiving and the greens were the slickest thing I've ever putted on.
Add the $95 green fee and you can guess how unhappy I was.

Shot 89 yesterday... Just got a swing tweak, so progress will come. I had a terrible start, +5 thru 3 holes, then had a double on 18, so I was +10 over the other 14 holes. Hot my approach on 7 to within a foot for birdie, and could have had a couple more birdies if I hadn't lipped out.

Next week, I get to play TPC River Highlands, home of the Travelers Championship, in a very special deal open to volunteers of the tournament only. It's $120 per person, including green frees, a cart, range balls, lunch, and one beer or soft drink. Being under age, I'll take the latter.
