Played Friday... Had 2 7's and an 8. Finished with an 85.

I've been looking at some topics online about how to handle and avoid having the meltdowns.

One of the thoughts is to always have a pre-shot routine to help calm and "wash away" the last shot. This is something I need to work on and get better at. I know I tend to rush (while irritated) and just compound the issue.

I'm playing 9 am Monday and probably a noonish round Tuesday. Going to have some quiet time at range tomorrow and force myself to use routine before each shot.

Anyone want to share any thoughts or give some guidance in this area?
You've already alluded to it but slowing down and focusing on your next shot is key. It's easier said than done. What's worked for me as I take a warmup swing or two is focusing on where the bottom of my swing is. This takes all other swing mechanics out of my head and all of a sudden my warmup swing is a proper inside out path without getting caught up in any other swing thoughts.

It's easy to get caught up in trying to figure out what's going wrong with your swing. It's fool's gold. It sounds like we're around the same level of golfer and I know for me, my swing is pretty decent. What gets me off track is worrying about what went wrong instead of knowing things will go wrong and keeping it simple to finish that hole.

A bogey becomes a double or a triple real quick.

Well for me.. it's not really the "swing" per say. A typical issue for me is.. Going along great then the pull with driver OOB or in play but waaay offline.
I drop and go to hit my 3rd/or have to punch out with no advance... and I just look at green/target area.. go up and hit.. and I push it/pull it 20 yards. Go to ball... pissed off.. pitch on but 30 feet away. 3 putt..

      Lol

My ball striking has been good as well as driver. It's just that when a bad one happens I let it linger..
But overall yeah it's a slow down.. take a deep breathe and focus. I really need to work on that as well as like you said.. forget it and less worry.
      Thanks for the input man.

Good luck man. I've broken 80 a few times. It's quite an amazing feeling because in this game the good and the bad is all you. And sadly, the bad happens more often than the good. So when a personal goal gets met...well, you'll see. Sounds like it's a matter of when not if for you.

After back to back 80's, I felt so good coming into today's round. Unfortunately, I shot 86, everything was good...except my darn driver. If I was smart, I would have left it at home, but just kept trying and trying.

Low...left. All damn day. Someone needs to get to the range, and not feel bad for being "that guy" hitting drive the whole time, lol.

Here's my round stats: 69% Drives going to the left...ugh.

Going to give GameGolf another try. I really would like to be using it for 1: The stats and 2: have my rounds "recorded".
Thinking it will also help me slow down. I wrote "TAG" on my golf glove to I'd see it every time I grip my club Lol..
Would love to video but I don't want the distraction right now. Plan to bribe daughter into going one day and be the camera crew

When you do start recording that swing, definitely check the swingshot camera that I use. It's perfect for those that play solo often:

I mainly want a "course" vlog rather than my swing. So I use my panasonic cam so I can get zoomage to the green etc..
I've used my GoPro at range and solo rounds when I want to just get swing. However that cam does look sweet Lol

Good luck with those Sky. I got a pair when they first hit the market, and my top right outside spike house has gone all to crap and that spike always falls out, when I 'sit down" on a shot. Great shoes, so comfortable easy to walk 18 or 36 in a day, stylish enough to look good footing around the clubhouse but my issue with them and their response to my complaints have left me jaded. I'm like 99% sure I post pics and what not here somewhere.

Unrelated.....I would love for every PGA pro to boycott next years US Open. What they did to DJ was shameful at best and out right amateur ****ery at worst. Happy he finally got his major and his putter didn't bail on him on Sunday. Congrats DJ.

Agreed. I never would have given someone a penalty for "affecting" the ball, especially since it rolled backwards

Bought my first club ever over the weekend. A TaylorMade Jetspeed 3 wood. I've always loved TaylorMade because the light weight of their clubs really suit me. I can't wait to hit the range and get some practice in.

Also picked up a really cheap Dunlop Invicta 7 iron because I absolutely suck at hitting with irons. Going to use it basically to get my form and stroke down.
