Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I set my hands just over my left thigh with every club so even with the driver with the ball played off my front instep, there is a bit of a forward press. You just have to make sure you don't hood the clubs with that method.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Went to the range yesterday. Clubs felt great. I had been using my father's old set from the 80's, and a few friends told me those close weren't forgiving at all.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Bottom line those clubs you have there are better than anything Jack Nicklaus had while he was on tour so they should be good to go. I bought my daughter a Power Built starter set for 150 and was surprised at how good and balanced they felt.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Well 1st thing.. I'm giving up with GameGolf. I think I tagged 6 shots through the first 5 holes. I just get in a flow and is skips my mind. Sort of sucks as I like the data.
Anyways:
Good news is only 1 slip up on back 9. Bad news I started waaay slow.
My driving was GREAT and I have some real easy approaches today. However I could not convert a single birdie putt but did scramble well.
Shot an 84 and it was a very fun day.
Once again 18 nailed me in the butt. After driving great all day I pull that drive OOB. I did manage to only double bogey though.
Overall I felt great, hit some great shots and some not so great. For me I'll take that at my age
Supposed to be playing tomorrow also. Longer course. Today's was at a favorite of ours. Not real long and mainly framed by pine trees.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played my first round of the year last tuesday. First drive was a breakfast ball as I "bogeyed" the first hole. 2nd hole I hit a lazer with my three wood that actually went longer than than the fairway, hit on to the green for par. Another par on the 3rd and a 3 put bogey on the 4th. After that it was ugly as everything was out of sorts. Only played nine but I couldn't find my rhythm at all
Still good to be out there I need range time to get my self sorted out though. Only good note was my putting didn't fall off too much at all. Still the best part of my game (outside of length, but a lot of that comes from my frame.).Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Two back to back 80's - something good is going on for my golf game right now. Hopefully I can continue to get better. Here is the most recent round:

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Had the craziest round today.
9 over through four with five lost balls.
Was about to walk off the course when I went on the best seven hole stretch of my life: four pars and three birds.
Unfortunately a long par 3 over water ended my hot streak (triple bogey).
I finished the day 11 over and feeling pretty good.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Got out today in Dayton, Ohio and shot 90. Had 5 doubles. Short game was too inconsistent. Driver was money all day. Was somewhat fatigued from driving 10 hours from Virginia Beach last night. Gonna take any excuse I can get.
For anyone on the fence about purchasing the new Ping "G" irons?? These clubs should be illegal. Loving them and glad I took the plunge.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Ok... have to start talking about the mental game.
I'm so close to breaking 80- but ALWAYS... have a blowup hole or 2-3.
Played Friday... Had 2 7's and an 8. Finished with an 85.
I've been looking at some topics online about how to handle and avoid having the meltdowns.
One of the thoughts is to always have a pre-shot routine to help calm and "wash away" the last shot. This is something I need to work on and get better at. I know I tend to rush (while irritated) and just compound the issue.
I'm playing 9 am Monday and probably a noonish round Tuesday. Going to have some quiet time at range tomorrow and force myself to use routine before each shot.
Anyone want to share any thoughts or give some guidance in this area?Joshua:
