    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

I recommend getting a coach. Start off on the right foot and learn good habits. It's helped me. I was always just trying to break 100. With my coach, now I'm trying to break 80.

Speaking of 80, I post an 80 today. 2 double bogies cost me a great score.
I am the lesson after the fall.

Dropping so many strokes due to the driver right now. Easily weakest part of my game.

        Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

In terms of driving the ball, one of the quickest changes I made to improve ball flight is really driving my hips through the ball ahead of hands. Think of it like a baseball swing. I can make subtle hand adjustments and have some success that way, but even doing that I tend to hit a soft fade with the driver, unless I keep my hips active.

I'm sad to hear that Nike is actually dropping out of the golf industry (minus shoes and apparel). I've been using the Vapor driver and irons for the past year and I really like them, was hoping to find some brand consistency for the future, but now I have to switch again. I know the major brands have a strong following and seem to be well-reviewed, this is just my own personal disappointment.

Haven't been able to play since Aug 1 due to a destroyed back. Probably should have just sat the year out but I can't not golf. Went out yesterday and walked while my wife played, that is horrible!! Anyway did some chipping and putting and other than being rusty the back felt okay, just a little tight today.

Have a tournament in two weeks so hopefully the back will feel better by then. I am doing physio, massage, chiro, ART, acupuncture, and exercise trying to get back in game shape. I will have the million dollar back by the time the season is over.

Injured backs suck. Take care of yourself and hopefully you will be good to go for the tournament.

I shot my second round in the 60's today. Shot a -3 69. I found myself -3 with three holes to go, two of which were easy birdie holes. A short par 4 and a driveable par 4. After a perfect drive on hole 16, I had 100 yards in. Hit my 56 degree wedge within ten feet. Putt was straight but uphill and I left the putt short, tapped in for par. Next hole was a 300 yard par 4. Took out my 3 wood and knocked it onto the front edge of the green. Left my eagle putt short and my birdie putt lipped out. Again, tapped in for par.

I par'd the par 5's on the front which was a real shame cause I felt like I could've easily shot -5 67 today. I had 4 birdies, 1 bogey and all the rest pars. Such a good round and I'm feeling confident for my golf trip coming up this weekend!

                I feel your pain.

I played Saturday morning, first time in a couple weeks due to vacation. It was also pretty breezy down here too. I'd say of the 12 times I teed off with it I hit 2 that I'd consider to be acceptable to me, the rest were just right, right, right... I've never struggled with a driver as much as I have this year. As I've said previously as well, I'm not sure where to go from here. I contemplated a session with a pro, just to work on my driver, but I'm not sure that would help me unless they hit the course with me. I hit my driver long and straight at the range all day long.

Luckily for me on Saturday, as bad as my drives were, my irons were good, so I was able to bail myself out of trouble on a lot of holes. But there were a couple I was so far into the trees a punch out was my only option, which inflated my score. Then, since I'm always driving right, I figured well I might as well just work with it, lined up more left, of course... I hit it dead straight, but because I was expecting it to come back right and it didn't, it ended up in the pond down the left side. Of course, just my luck! lol At the end of the day, I still shot a 94, so I mean... it is what it is I guess given the struggles I had having not touched my clubs in a while .

Monday and Tuesday saw me score 79's on each day. When I keep myself from coming "over the top" and minimize my fade, I can post a decent score. I need to hit more greens in regulation though. My new goal is to shot 75 or lower.

131 today. Hit my driver better. Swapped out my XR for the one that came in the set. Even had my 1st par in a while on the 18th.

I finally got out to Wooden Sticks that has replica holes. I played the mirrored replica of Sawgrass #17. I hit the green on my first shot. 124 to the pin, hit a controlled 9 to the left. Had a long double breaking up hill putt for birdie. There was no birdie.

Posted an 81. Not bad for playing a course for the first time. I hit 13 out of 14 fairways. 2 double bogies killed me. Good round overall.

                      91 rounds in the bag.

This was from the tee box. You can see how it's different from Sawgrass, however still very intimidating.

We got a place like that Renditions. I love playing their replica of this hole and Amen Corner. Dont play it often because they are overpriced and full of themselves but when ive got friends in town ill take them there. Nice to see other place like it out there.

I shot a 73 today. 2 over par. This is the lowest I've ever scored. I'm in a good place right now with my swing.

That's awesome man!!! Next stop breaking par. I remember the first time I did it. Had to make an 8 footer for bogey on 18. I have never been more sick to my stomach standing over a putt in my life. Best part......put her dead in the middle of the cup. It's been a while since I've broke par, but next year with a fresh new back I know for sure I'll do it.

I finally got out for the first time since Aug 1 on Saturday due to the lingering back pain I've been having. I have a money tourney next weekend and figured I should try hitting balls at least once. Shot 38 on a par 36 with 3 birdies and 2 doubles. Back didn't like it so its another week of chiro and physio then hopefully it will hold up for the 2 days of golf.

I've been out there to Renditions! It's sort of out-of-the-way from the city (DC) - way out in, like, Davidsonville or something? But it's fun and a nice little track to go around with friends, as you mentioned. And the replica Augusta scoreboard is a cute touch (if a little cheesy...) There's so many good courses in the immediate northern VA/western MD area, though, it's hard to find a reason to schlep all the way out there IMO.
