I had that happen to one of my drivers. Other than the annoyance, it doesn't affect performance. I think what happens is a tiny piece of the shaft below where it's glued breaks off inside the hollow head.

Heading out in a couple hours to play in the annual Father's Day scramble with my dad and uncle on my hometown course. Two day event flighted after today. Last year we had an atrocious Sunday, so we're looking to bounce back from that.

anyone else live in San Diego here? I only have like 4-5 friends who golf so I'm very limited on when I can go. Would obviously like to golf more and with more people, not a fan of going solo and being paired with randoms.

So I tried out those new Callaway X Series Jaws wedges today, I have to say they're fantastic.

Good feel off the face, they're forged so you can really feel the ball hit the face upon contact. These clubs also put some real nice spin on the ball. Had a few nice 50 yard chips that would bounce once, then stop on the green. Granted the greens were a bit wet, but I have no doubt I could do the same on a sunny day.

Tested them out on the range before my round, I was hitting them around 75-100 yards with full power. Again, weather wise it was wet and damp, so that affects ball flight somewhat. I can't wait to try these bad boys out on a sunny day!

The Medicus iron is the one aid I'd say is a great one to have.
It helped my iron play tremendously.
I love my 50 and 60 degree cleveland wedges. I'd be lost without them.

Alright, here's an updated shot of my swing. I've moved my hands further away from me during my backswing, which has significantly decreased my shanks. My ball striking has improved a little but it's still lacking. Any help would be appreciated.

              Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

You look really stiff. You should do a camera angle from the side so we can see your posture. From those videos, it looks like your standing tall. You should have your shoulders a little bit over your toes and your right should pointing down a tad, so that your spine angle is on a slight slant.

This guys explains what I'm talking about:

              <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0tgd4C914aI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also, hold your finish a bit longer. Don't swing, hit the ball, then get another ball. This is what I like to do when I'm at the range. I get ready and approach the ball, do your normal swing and hit the ball, then hold your finish position until the ball reaches it's apex, then as the ball starts to fall, begin to bring the club down but KEEP your body and legs in the same position as they were when you hit the ball. Once the ball lands, then you can move out of your finish position.

              Hope that makes sense.

                Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Well, today was good and terrible at the same time. I went to play at Pine Valley in Ft. Leonard Wood and they have a very tall 3rd cut rough. So I lost about 7 or 8 balls. 3 on the first hole. (I know.) The head of my 3 wood also came off on the range before we teed off. It seems to be fixable.

                BUT

I still shot my best round with a 117, while walking 18 and carrying my clubs. We started on the 10th and then went to the front 9. I birdied #1 and #2, both involved tons of luck. I landed #2 on the green and putted it in, but I chipped and holed #1. Very surprising. Now I have 3 birdies in my life. I also didn't putt more than 3 on any hole.

I shot one in the water, but that was with a ball I found out on the course. I also found the ball on the course I birdied with, a Bridgestone e6.

Are we good for a fix? Part 2.

Seems like the shaft is done for, but the head will still be good. Does anybody have an estimate as to how much it will cost to fix.

I'll delete the other post if it ever re-sizes.

do you any of you guys or have any of you played X-out balls? I just left the golf store by my place and they have a 12 x-out balls for 8.99. They had Titleist, Calloway etc. Are the "defects" or whatever they may be that noticeable? I am thinking of going back and picking up a dozen if you can't notice that big of a difference.

Most of the time it's purely cosmetic. I have a few in my bag that I find around the course in bushes and such, I never noticed a big difference in performance. Granted, I don't play 50$ golf balls. I usually stick with the 20$-30$ golf ball range. I play the Nike PD soft balls and Callaway HX Hot Bite balls respectively.

Thanks. I went back and got a box of titleist ones.

I know titleist makes different balls as do all companies but I noticed the dimples on the all the balls marked 3 are smaller than all the other balls. Is that meaning different Titleist balls are represented in this case or could that be why its an X-Out?

edit - Is there anyway to identify which Titleist balls came in the pack?

Nothing wrong with X-Out balls, there's always a good deal with them as there should be.

This article helped me understand them a bit better too, as I had just thought they were range balls - so I learned something today.

As for my selection, i've posted it on here - but I get my balls from www.lostgolfballs.com - you can buy in bulk this way - thus getting more bang for your buck. I bought 50 Z-Star (Srixon) Tours for under $60 bucks. Can't beat that.

It looks like the first ball is an NXT Tour S, the second NXT Tour S Yellow (only difference in color is cosmetic), and the third a DT Solo.

The Taylor Made Rocketballz 3-wood is one of the hottest clubs I've hit in a long time. The ball just explodes off that club. I hit it almost as far as I hit my driver.

I let my friend, who is a very good golfer(3 handicap) and hits the ball 290+ off the tee, hit it and it was easily 15-20 yards longer than his Cobra 3 wood.

If anyone is looking for a new 3wood or fairway woods, I'd recommend trying out the Rocketballz. I didn't like the Rocketballz irons, but I love that 3 wood. It has single handedly changed my game.

I have my 2nd round matchup in our Club Championship match play tournament tomorrow. The other guy is much longer than I am, but he can be erratic. I'm just gonna try to par him to death. If I luck up and get a couple birdies, hopefully I can beat him. If he played as good as he can, and I did the same, he will be beat me, so I need him to be off a little.

so my collapse the other day I mentioned which STILL has me angry. I was at hole 17 and at an 83. 17 was a par 3, and 18 was a short 293 par 4.....I ended the day at 98.......
