I've only holed out 4 or 5 chip shots in my life and I've been playing for over 10 years now, haha. Congrats on that!

Sup spence - you should hit me up man, I'm in OP and will usually teach new golfers the best I can - they just have to buy the bucket. I'm not great, but I've been obsessed enough to know the true fundamentals of good ball striking.

That's a generous offer - might have to take you up on that. Got started last year and learned the very little that I know through reading books I checked out at the library.

I think some one-on-one instruction would really help a lot. I know my swing still has a lot of elements of a baseball swing in it and I'm sure that's not helping things at all.

Yeah, man. I know it's easier to see what's going on with the swing. Usually it's one or two fixes that will get you where you need to be. The better your swing mechanics, the better all parts of your game (short game and putting) will be.

Let me know via PM - I usually play in OP at St. Andrews off of 135th st.

I just bought a new set of Ping G15 Irons and am loving them thus far at the range. Had them for about a month or so, but Saturday will be the first time I take them through a round.

Looking for a new driver now. Not digging the TaylorMade Burner I bought on special this past winter. Can't hit the dang thing.
I had the burner as well, could NOT hit it at all. Traded it in and got a Rocketballz driver. Love that thing!

For those that are buying equipment, I'd say buy one training aid to use for life.

For me, it's the tour striker:

Martin Chuck is a real genuinely nice person, he's found on GolfWRX forums - and interacts with everyone. This is a heck of a training aid, and teaches you exactly how to strike the ball correctly.

I've always wondered about this aid. To me, it just looks like a really fat iron and can't even begin to understand how that would help my ball striking. As an inconsistent ball striker, I'd take any aid I can get if it'll help. But this one has always confused me as how a fat iron is going to improve that area of my game.

                  Shot a 48 on 9 holes Wednesday...could've been a 40 or 41 had I not putted like a three year old.

Only problem I ran into was that after the last shot I hit with my driver, I heard a rattling noise in the head, and now it rattles every time I swing it (practice or actual). Does that mean it's broken or am I just reaching for another excuse to replace it?

Just played the best round of golf in my life (score wise) and I'm EXTREMELY pissed still at how I finished. I should be happy I shot well but I cannot get the last 2 holes out of my mind.

                            56 and a 60 degree. 56 has 12 degrees of bounce, 60 has 8 degrees.

It's not a fat iron though. Martin actually made the grooves (where you strike ball) and sweet spot higher on the face, meaning you have to force yourself to lean the club/shaft so the grooves are exposed to the ball - this promotes a descending blow, which in turn allows you to hit the ball pure and not try to lift it up like a lot of high handicappers do.
