Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
True. Went out today in 100 degree heat and shot a 50 on nine. I parred the threes and doubled everything else. Three putts on three holes killed what felt like a solid round.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Played 18 this morning and followed a 47 on the front 9 with a 39 on the back. I got off to a bad start by triple bogeying and double bogeying the first two holes, but settled down from there and played closer to the bogey/par golf that I'm used to. Luckily I played early enough so it wasn't unbearably hot.. cloud cover helped, too.
I'm hoping to take a day off of work in the next couple of weeks and get out when it's not so crowdedComment

Note to those listening: if you play different tees than the majority of your group - just PLAY THE TEES OF THE MAJORITY OF YOUR GROUP.
There was a group ahead of us that had one guy who tried to play from the tips, another from the blues (mids) and two guys playing whites (regs). We were waiting on them every single hole - marshall had them speed up, and was tailing them like crazy.
Anyway, I came up 1 foot short of getting a hole in one...just thought I'd share. Damn ball landed 2 feet short, and bounced over the side of the flag/hole and spinned back to 1 ft. Gar.Comment

Same here being a regular has its advantages. They always send our group through and usually will give us a 15-20 min lead on next group so were not being pushed.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
NATO. Not about the outcome. I was shooting in the 120s last summer when I first started and that was the best piece of advice I got. Now I average between a 95 and a 110 but have shot a 93 and an 84 In the past two weeks. Good luck with that 115 though! The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

Glad to see my boy Tiger, (who reps the same clubs I have) get a win. He finally put together a full tournament.

That shot was incredible. I don't know how you force yourself to commit through contact when you know that your club is going to hit a tree.Comment

Granted to him, those clubs are probably chump change, but still. I couldn't do that to those clubs if I owned them... I'd be terrified if I broke them...Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
The cost in one thing, but that was his nine iron. His approach shot on 18 was with his nine iron. Still having it in his bag let him hit driver off the tee on 18. Otherwise he would've had to hit 3 wood and try with a longer iron. Not something that he would have a problem with, but the shorter the iron the better he is.
For me that shot would never happen because I can't afford to replace my irons and I would break my club and not only that I could never draw the ball like that.Moderator

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
I wasn't even thinking about the cost of replacing a broken club.. I was just thinking the impact on your wrists/hands and your body's natural inclination to protect itself from impending harm.
I literally don't know if I could force myself to take a full swing if I knew that I was going to hit a tree after contact.Comment
