      Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Just played for the first time in two weeks tonight and ugh, it was a struggle. No pars, 1 birdie, 46. I just couldn't hit an accurate iron and my putting was atrocious. As usual, my driver was solid.

Playing in a 4-man scramble sponsored by my work on Friday. Getting paid while golfing and enjoying a couple of cold ones. Now that's what I call a great day.

Look out. Shot a 75 yesterday. Only 1 birdie, didn't really do anything great, but did nothing bad. That's the best round I've shot at my club.

I have a member/guest 2 man scramble tournament this weekend. My partner can hit it a mile. We played in it last year and we sucked. Hopefully we will do a little better this weekend. Can't wait for 100 degree weather both days!!

good round man. Where are you a member if you don't mind me asking?

Still about a week away from being able to attempt swinging a club.

4-man scramble today and we shot a 57. And that wasn't good enough to win. We tied with another team and they won on a scorecard tiebreaker. I wanted to go back out for a playoff.

Damn Jdurg - that stinks. Hope you get better soon and are able to salvage what's left of the golf season.

As soon as you get more strength in the wrists, I would definitely be practicing cips and putts in the meantime. You'd be surprised how much better your ball striking is when you practice just chipping.

When I was a 5 hcp, I spent an entire month just going to the chipping range, the next month, nothing but putting - after that full swing took half the month to maintain.

                Glasgow.

We shot 2 under the first day and 3 under the second day. We finished 5th in our flight. We had 4 birdies and 2 bogeys the first day. We had an eagle, and 4 birdies on the second day, but had 3 bogeys. If we had just not had any bogeys we would have won. Heck if we'd not had any bogeys on the second day, we would have been 2nd. It was fun, but is was SO HOT. Almost 100 both days. Also, is it bogeys or bogies?

I'm 5'7 and possibly still growing and looking for an upgrade. The previous set used was a set from uskidsgolf.com, the UltraLight set since I'm a young teen.

Should I stay the course and go for this http://www.uskidsgolf.com/eng/produc...et_combo?63170

or go for the "Adult" set of clubs like this http://shop.pgatour.com/clubs/adams/...6990.aspx?gd=1

                  Thanks!

The thing about the first set of clubs is that they are, in general, .5 - 1.5 inches shorter than the Adams set.

Does that make a big difference based on my height? Do you think I need the longer set?

The Ultralight set I've been using is fine, but as you grow taller does it affect your stance?

                    Sorry for all these questions.

There are some sites that allow you to measure yourself to see what kind of club length you need. Granted, you are a teen, so you might be growing - not sure you want to lock yourself into a set of clubs just yet.

My honest suggestion is to forget about name brand clubs - and go cheap, but effective. I use gigagolf.com for all my purchases. It allows you to customize your golf swing, height, and wrist from floor measurements.

Including shipping, you can pay for half of what those Adams are.

Thanks man. I'll check it out.

And, I guess it is kinda odd how I'm trying to look into those specific brands at this age. lol When my friend told me she had a Callaway bag, Cleveland Clubs, and a TaylorMade Putter and Driver, I was pretty surprised.

I am very close to making a purchase from there. Just wondering, but how are the weights on their club? Any heavier than other brands?

ahhh....going to play a local par 3 course Saturday morning to get back in the "swing" of things after not being able to play for the past few weeks. Oh happy days are here again.

Woo! Just shot a 40 at Pine Hill Country Club in Brewer, Maine. Best round i've ever had. Par is 36. I had 2 birdies, 5 pars, and two triple bogeys (). Were it not for those two holes, I would have done a lot better. One of them, the tee shot skipped off the fairway into the woods. I dropped, then promptly left it short right into a pond with my wedge. The other hole was similar. Put too much on one of my putts, rolled off the green into the bunker, then two putted home. I feel good that if I had fixed my mistakes, I could have shot in the 30's. Not bad for a guy that before this year had never broken 50

Gotta give love to Skyboxer for helping me out with the stack and tilt swing. It has completely transformed my game to the point that I am confident i'm going to hit every green in regulation. So much more fun when you're doing well!

Also, as a side note, the guy behind us hit the pin on his tee shot on a par 3 and had the ball land about 1 inch from the hole. He didn't even know it until we told him. I would have flipped out had he made it, it was awesome to see.

Went yesterday for the first time since June. Shot 104. I still have the yips, just doing something wrong and I can't even hit my 3 iron 150 yards on a perfect shot.

I did put pretty good and anything where I could use a chip style shot I did good, even chipped in from 40 feet for birdy.

Saw the craziest thing I have ever seen in golf. Friend was putting from abuot 10 feet out. Green were really really slow so we were having to blast is pretty hard. His ball goes in the hole, hit the lip of the cup down inside, pops out and just sits right there on the edge of the hole.
