It is, but it will be without the course designer. Just a heads up, if that's something you were interested in.

Also, the physical copy of PGA 2K21 on Switch doesn't come out until Sept. 25. If you want it on Switch on the Aug. 21 release date, you have to buy it digitally.

Some of the problems with the short game can be alleviated especially if you just play solo. Splash only in bunkers flops only where you would use them in real life. So you pitch and chip where appropriate.

Game looks better and with the added options it seems they are on the right track. If the devs actually played golf they could clean up some of the cheese making it impossible to chip out of bunkers and all the rest.

I want to shoot around par not sub 65 all the time. Game seems fine to me after all it is just video golf in the final analysis.

They seemed to be golfing irl, it's more an issue that the more coding they add in the game, the more there will be bugs. They already had that problems in other versions by fixing one thing and having a bug elsewhere.

Anyway I know that I'm not buying this game next week, I'm still enjoying the old TW14 too much and playing almost everyday... even without the DLC. I'll buy it eventually like I did the other 3 TGC and it will be sitting there on the PS4 as nobody will play it.

Yeah - despite my rising interest in this as I've seen more, I'm definitely waiting for a while to see thoughts once it's out in the hands of everyone and perhaps what sort of patching they do over the months ahead.

I've been so personally disappointed with HB the last couple years that I need to be convinced that they'll actually build onto this and fix things that will undoubtedly crop up.

The "hot drop" they did on TGC2019 wasn't cool - at all.... and I'm a little skeptical this is truly a rolling release that will get built on, particularly when they chose to put "(20)21" in the name (2K21).

Yeah I'll wait-and-see once it's out in the wild and people have a chance to really look under the hood. I am still persuadable - I really want to like this game - but I will need to see what people that have a similar approach to golf games as myself think of it first.

For all the work they did I'm still just so bummed that the short game and around the green looks like it does.

I don't like the shot selection, the animations for it, the camera work and sure as hell don't like the "bail out" nature of the shots they are situationally allowing.

I don't think they understand how much they are short circuiting the whole point of proper aiming, shot selection and mastering of different clubs and shots by allowing you to basically "get out of jail free" if you miss on your approach and/or get into trouble in general.

I find it interesting that they added the "Splash" shot type, kept in the "Flop" shot type, but removed the "Punch" shot type...

That was already a "solution" in the past for all the problems in previous TGC games.

It's frustrating as hell that we are still having to resort to that

Total agreement...a major part of strategy and course management in golf is missing in the 'right' place. If you short-side miss in the rough to a tight pin, there's no way you should be able to do anything but punch out to 25-50 feet on any tournament-level green. This is golf 101: don't miss short side in the rough or it will cost you a stroke. There's a reason pros don't just fire directly at pins all the time.

Sure, once in a while Phil can pull off a super-flop and knock it tight, but this is a rarity. More often than not, even Phil will either flop it and it will go 10 feet and still be in the rough, or it will fly to the opposite side of the green and be in the far rough. Either way, missing in the wrong place is a cardinal sin that should be punished in any legitimate simulation of the sport. This is not a niche argument: it's a fundamental aspect of the game.

Being able to flop out of rough to a tight short-side pin is sort of the equivalent going for it on 4th down on "Madden" and converting 95% of the time - the risk/reward ratio is way off. (Although I guess you could argue that's pretty much what does happen in "Madden", but that's a different thread....)

You should really get that post of yours to HB/2K if you can.

I'm not a member on their forum, but they need to see that.

                            You are spot on.

They are doing ALL this work to build a golf simulation and then ruining it completely with short game and what's allowed/enabled, etc, per your post and the others in there.

So now that we've had almost a whole week of streamer content out on the interwebs, there are still some things that haven't been really addressed or talked about due to 2K/HB Studios marketing limitations. The biggest one, to me, is Societies...

We are a week and two days out from launch, and the inclusion of Solo Societies is up in the air. It was not even shown in the main menu of the preview build the streamers got to play, and even Online Societies were an off-limits topic during the streams and recordings.

Guessing some info starts coming out tomorrow or Friday, as they need something to put out there for the week before launch.

Also, sounded like the streamers were potentially going to get copies of the final game early, so more content and info could hit the web early next week.

Still makes me shake my head that a big part of this game (Societies) is basically left in the dark, except for some high-level points given out in that last Reddit Q&A.

I suppose I would if I thought it would make any difference, but I have significant doubts that it would. Not to mention, given the way it sounds like they treat people with critical or even not-critical-but-not-complimentary opinions over there, not sure I want to even bother. Also, I'm lazy.

I guess at this point, the game is 2 weeks away (or whatever the date is) from being out in the wild, so we'll get opinions from more trusted sources soon enough. I wish they'd release a demo but I can wait.
