Ok found a game play vid with the power putting bar turned OFF and it sounds like he enjoyed it just fine. Also said he could control the putting visually without the bar. Said it was a little twitchy but better than with the bar and he had played 2019 before.

So that is hopeful but he did mention the vibration and stick was more twitchy for putting than 2019

I hope they didn't mess with the putting I thought it was one of the best features in the last couple of games actually. I see a lot of guys on YouTube using that flag they move around on the greens. I never ever use that. I am not a great player not even good but if you can play this game even a little bit why use that? Just go by feel. Don't chip out of bunkers either. Cheese.

Yeah baby, that's more like it! I knew I had seen Respawn play a round with the power bar's turned off in his live stream on Thursday, but I wasn't properly able to appreciate it because I was in a heavy chat at the time. I spotted JimGem's video that you linked last night because I knew he was publishing his in 1440p. The power bar's off was an expected bonus!

The game looks and plays with a more believable array of dispersion with the power bar off. I know people are worried that the game would be unplayable with them off since the swing is now faster, but Jim commented every time he missed a shot, whether left or right, "yeah, I felt that one", so it's not like it's arbitrary.

There's also reportedly some vibration you feel in the stick as you near the backswing distance needed to achieve your desired power. It's apparently not as precise as watching the power bar, from what I'm hearing, but it's enough to give you something to go on... something that won't take your eyes off your golfer during the swing, and momentarily snap you out of the immersion of 'being there'.

This video also shows you a good run down of the pro names as he's reviewing the PGA TOUR players in his roster at the start. The "non-featured" pros are partially silhouetted in their roster profiles, but even at that, it's not like the silhouette is representative of the pro that's supposed to be there. Still, this approach is the best way to do it, IMO.

I couldn't tell at the time, and maybe I missed it, what overall level of difficulty was JimGem playing out. It had to be either Pro or Master, but either way, he was having trouble scoring with the power bars off, and he's a better than average player. Anyway, I was more encouraged by what I saw in that video than any other I've seen to date!

I'm keeping my eyes open for someone playing legendary with the power bars off! I guarantee you that Crazycanuck 1985 wouldn't have shot -1 at Pearl Mountain in Legendary difficulty if he'd had the power bars off, I know that for sure!

Yep, saw that one myself last night and liked it. I comment more on it in Stormyhog's post above, but that video and Jim's comments about the swing with the power bars off, would have sold me on the game if I wasn't sold already.

I know this seems crazy to some, but why can't you totally disable the swing feedback?

(like no swing path - no power readout of your swing, etc)

Seems like it'd be a really fun and more organic way to play


Overall, I still am not sure about how the ball bounces sometimes (particularly on fairways -- can seem really bouncy for some reason).. and I do wish some of the cameras would get refined (I really don't like the camera work around the green/chips/flops as it goes from contact to "in the air" -- just overdone totally for what is needed to see and appreciate such short range ball movement)

But - I'm getting closer to being interested when this goes on Winter/Spring sales perhaps.

Just a note I pulled from TGC Tours forums...the devs had previously boasted that no one would break par on day one playing on Legendary difficulty...

Sure, but other difficulties inside that legendary mode might have been tuned down.
Don’t forget now, you can have difficulties INSIDE the difficulty sets!

I believe in the video, he said all difficulty levels were set to default Legend presets.

Pretty sure Jimgem mentioned you can turn vibration off in one of his vids I watched, he was leaving it on cause everything was new to him.

With everything else that you can turn off or on, I would have been surprised if you couldn't turn that off, as I know not everybody's going to want vibration feedback. I may not if it isn't subtle enough.

I asked Jim Gem some questions relating my questions, and come of you guys also, about the Sawgrass, No power bar round I linked earlier. He got back to me so I thought I'd share the answers here:

Jim, what difficulty level were you using in this round? Pro?? I know it probably shows as Custom, but I'm guessing you started with Pro, and then turned the power bars off to arrive at Custom. Also, does the swing camera default to 'fixed' or 'static', with an option to switch it to follow cam?

It looks like you're switching to an alternate view on demand, going with the reverse angle camera views when you switch (again as I do). I noticed on short pitches and chips, you're switching to more of a follow cam, but you're again doing that on demand with the D pad, right?

1.) "Yes pro settings with power bar off-pro vision off-aiming circle off' The game plays better i feel without the power bar especialy for guys like yourself that are used to TGC games' but it's a nice inclusion for the new players"

2.) "I have the cameras pretty much the same as i did in 2019 follow cam off and yes use the d-pad to cycle through' It's the same for the short pitches i control that' also i found the first round i played the follow cam is a bit off for short piches just dosn't give you good angles' so best controlling those yourself..��"

So scagwi, those quick shifts you're seeing are being directed by Jim, on his demand with the D pad. You could just leave the D pad alone to get a more fixed perspective, or change it much later in the shot.

Also, as for confirming the ability to be able to turn off the vibration feedback, here was his comment:

"Yup it can be turned off also i suppose if you are playing with youre buddies as guests it's the same all those can be turned on and off' seperately..��"
