I know I’ve said this before, so my apologies, but there really are some unflattering angles for the game visuals..
That shot above...I could mistake that for a PS3 Tiger Woods game
It’s going to be a bummer when true next gen sports are out and this game just gets...backwards compatibilityComment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
I think I saw on the TGC Tours forum that someone already essentially figured out which driver almost all users are going to have, due to its maximum power attribute. It has lower forgiveness, but I am sure that won't matter too much once people get a hang of the tempo of their swing.
On that note, I would also like the ability to hit stingers and hozzled shanks so it felt more like real life.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
This is fine, but what I want is to use the club I want, say the Callaway Maverick, but have to unlock the pre-determined setup I want. For example, I could setup my Driver with the "Distance" setup where I have crazy long distance, but my accuracy may suffer. Or I could choose the "Maximum Control" setup where I don't hit it as far, but I have greater control over the accuracy.
On that note, I would also like the ability to hit stingers and hozzled shanks so it felt more like real life.Comment

Super video.
Sure hope they take to heart those flop/splash/around the green comments.
It’s really a detriment to the experience to have bail out shots. People should have to think about risk/reward when aiming...huge part of golf.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
Great video.
I also have watched parts of his 4K one and parts of JimGem game play.
The game is a buy for me and I like a lot of what I see but I can see there are likely some things that bug me based off videos.
1) Looks like though the game has tons of options to take off whatever aids, swing meters, etc (awesome) it appears it was designed for meter. I am noticing both streamers swing over 100% on all full shots without meter
2) There appears to be no penalty or risk/reward for over swing or underswing other than distance.
3) The short game still is poorly implemented it appears with splash and flop shots over chip shots. Short game doesn't seem to replicate real golf. Also lack of punishment for poor decision making/misses (i.e. doesn't matter if you short side yourself off green in rough...just splash one out close). A flop shot is generally a high degree of difficulty in real life and is more of a last resort type shot...not a go to shot around greens
4) Putting doesnt appear as good even without meter. Last version you went off feel. This version it appears from watching that even without a meter they aren't going by feel. They are waiting for rumble or practicing to replicate swing to match the % feedback on practice swings.
5) it didn't appear that adding draw or fade to shot made it any more difficult. Maybe it does at higher difficulty. But I don't think hitting a draw or fade should be as simple as moving the shot shap button and you know exactly how much draw or fade is applied).
These are just my interpretations based on videos as I obviously haven't played. Just think the swing mechanic still isn't my personal ideal of what it should be (I think over swings should be hard to control and I wouldlike to see more draw and fade misses as oppose to fast pulls and slow pushes.. I believe Ben Hogan was quoted as saying he hit about 5 shots a round exactly how he wantedand he was one of best ball strikers ever).
But negative comments aside, it looks like a good, solid golf game to me. Looking forward to playing the game.Last edited by TheBrew101; 08-11-2020, 06:13 PM.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
I am watching a YouTube video now by Jim Gem on career mode, and it seems the scores may change based on your other difficulty settings, or perhaps what tour you are on.
Those scores I mentioned above were from TheApexHound video where he began playing in Q-School to get on the Korn Ferry Tour. In Jim Gem's video (watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8jHTqOgdy8), he jumps right into the PGA TOUR and gets the following AI Opponent Difficulty settings:
Very Easy, -1 to -3 per round
Easy, -4 to -6
Normal, -7 to -10
Hard, -9 to -13
Very Hard, -12 to -17
So, perhaps, scores adjust based on other factors, too.
I have a serious problem with difficulty being tied to scores rather than difficulty and current conditions.
I was starting to get excited until I saw this.Comment

The short game looks disappointing.
It needed a complete re-work and it looks like they may have missed the mark on it.
This is very disappointing considering how critical the "around the green" part of golf is to scoring well -- as well as risk/reward/penalty impacting shot selection on your way into the green.
They need to cut out the "bail out" shots/clubs/situations as a start.Comment

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
Agreed, the flop/splash (in particular) seem like junk, bail-out shots to me. I'd rather have them properly scaled in difficulty, or even feasibility in the case of a splash shot from the fairway or light rough, or just taken out altogether. A chip or pitch would be a much more practical shot option where we see these bail out shots inappropriately made the 'norm' in place of them!?Duke Football? Re: PGA TOUR 2K21 August 6 Streaming Content Thread
There are additional settings for the AI, aside from the Opponent Difficulty level shown in the previous post...I believe he left all at the default settings:
- Conditions Difficulty: sets the level of challenge provided by the course, by adjusting terrain firmness and green speeds, as well as the likelihood of encountering strong winds (default is Normal).
The following are Opponent Difficulty Settings, and are all percentages from 0-100%
- CPU Skill: determines how skillful the opponents are. The higher the value the better the opponents will be (was set at 80% in the video)
- CPU Event Skill Deviation: determines how much an opponent's skill may adjust between events (set at 5% in the video).
- CPU Rounds Skill Deviation: determines how much an opponent's skill may adjust between rounds in an event (set at 10% in the video).
- CPU Attendance: modifies the likelihood of players attending events (set at 90% in the video, but he increased it to 100%).
The following are Conditions Difficulty Settings:
- Wind Difficulty: determines how challenging the wind may be during an event. Higher difficulties will increase the chance of playing in faster wind speeds (set at Normal in the video).
- Fairway Firmness: set the desired Fairway Firmness of the course for your round. A lower firmness will reduce the height and distance of a bounce, while a higher firmness will increase them. Set this to Default to use the firmness settings chosen by the course's designer, which may include finely tuned values for each terrain surface (set to Default in the video).
- Green Firmness: same as Fairway Firmness but for the greens (set to Default in the video).
- Green Speed: basically the same idea as the Firmness settings, but for the speed of the greens (set to Default in the video).
Rounds Per Event Settings - you can choose to set each event type to have 1-4 rounds
- Regular Event Rounds (set to One in the video)
- Alternate Event Rounds (set to One in the video)
- Championship Event Rounds (set to One in the video)
- Major Event Rounds (set to One in the video)
- Final Event Rounds (set to One in the video)
So it does seem that there are more settings that allow you to customize how the AI scores in career mode, aside from just the AI Opponent Difficulty setting. I felt the same way you did, until I saw this video and got the full picture of the settings available in the mode.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 08-11-2020, 10:51 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Off topic I a bit. I had no idea that this was also coming on the Switch. Guess I will be buying 2 copies.
