    iRacing after 2+ years

As I spectated most of the race everyone pitted except for the leader putting most of the field a lap down. As everyone was done putting a caution flew then the leader pitted. So he didn't have much of a challenge. Me on the other hand finally came out of the pits with 30 or so laps left in 29 and finished the race in 25. Got a little bump up in SR but my irating took a 200 pt hit[emoji22]

On average how long do the NiS races take to run? I'm assuming 2-2 1/2 hours?

        Re: iRacing after 2+ years

My 4th split race last night was 82 minutes plus 12-13 for warm-up, grid and pace lap.

Here are some Sunday night 4th split race lengths not including the full length races:

Pocono: 115 minutes due to half the race (literally) being under caution
        New Hampshire: 97 minutes
        Kentucky: 114
        Daytona: 69
        Sonoma: 72
        Dover: 106
        Kansas: 94
        Dega: 97
        Richmond: 89

For an average of 93.5 minutes, not including anything before the green flag flies.

Yes. There was some fun voice-chat drama early in the race with a couple of the racers (not involving me). It seems like the guy who was pissed has done that act before with another driver and I didn't appreciate getting forced 3-wide on lap 2, anyways, though. I always enjoy drama under caution, though it sounds like he was trying to wreck the other under green (well, he was "teaching him a lesson," whatever that is supposed to mean).

EDIT: Looks like the sound is all screwed up and out of sync on my video upload. I'll try to reupload it tonight. I am not sure why that happened.

And yeah, next week is going to be a challenge. Not even sure I'll attempt it, at least in NiS, Bristol is nuts.
Yeah, generally, I would almost always opt for repairs, especially at a high-speed track like Michigan, where you will be killed on the straights if your front-end is damaged.

Bristol is going to be awful. I hate that place with a passion. It's so hard to pass unless you're a lot faster than the guy in front of you and people are going to be performing slide-jobs and wrecking people.

By the way, jct, I watched your Twitch replay, but your in-game sound did not seem to be working. Rough ending to the race after a pretty good start.

Well, there's a 10-minute warmup, and races on average, as Chaos said, are around 90 minutes or so (more or less depending on the race). So, I'd assume 100-120 minutes in most cases, though races can go over the two-hour mark in real caution-fests. However, the full-length races can last over three hours, but there's only a few of those per season (I think Dega and Homestead are the only ones left this season).

My Michigan race, with only two cautions and 200 miles of racing, was a little shorter, though (I was done by 10:30 EDT).

Same guys who were whining about each other in the NiS fixed thread I assume. Always good to hear some top split drama.

I'll watch your video if you get the sound sorted. Went to play it earlier and thought I was going crazy for a second.

So it looks like iRacing screwed up and made the Gen6 Fixed Bristol race during the day. I was waiting to see how practice and maybe a race or two would go before I considered running NiS, but that's definitely not happening now. Guess I could hop in an open race with the fixed set, but I suspect I'd get my butt kicked.

What do you mean? Looks like the same 8 PM/5 AM/11 AM/8 PM schedule as last week for the fixed series.

                    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Anybody here run B open or the Sprint Car series? Planning to make my Sprint Car debut tonight at Bristol. Fastest I've been in the Sprint Car is 14.276. Not sure how that stacks up to anybody else yet. I'm about 2 secs off the pace from the last race at Bristol but that was a night race, this one is a day race. So assuming it'll be slower pace.

So far my fastest lap for the xFinity B open is 16.028. According to the forum I'm about half a sec slower then what some are running.

I've only ran Bristol before in SK Mod and it was a ton of fun. Hoping I don't end up hating the track after the Sprint Car and xFinity races. LOL

If you are ever looking for a setup should check out http://iracingsetups.nickthissen.nl/...iewSetups.aspx I use those as my baseline. Higher you go up in license less and less setups that seem to be available but I can usually find atleast 1 to use as a baseline along with the fixed setup.

Then I use a software called Sim Setup Analyzerhttp://setupanalyzer.com/ to help it suggest adjustments. It has a 14 day trial and works pretty well. Don't think it'll make you one of the fastest out there but helps you get your feet wet trying to make setups.

                        Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear.

I don't mean the race times for NiS, but rather the track itself. NiS is running the night version of Bristol, while the regular class a fixed is running the day version. They drive differently so you can't use one to prepare for the other.

I was planning on running a class a fixed race or two to try and prepare for NiS on Sunday, with the track difference that's not possible.

Looks like the sound is sorted out now. Windows Movie Maker kept on messing up the sound sync when I compressed the video to upload it to Youtube. I had to cut off the first minute or so of the video to fix it. Strange.

My computer records every race but I normally don't upload them unless it's a great finish for me or a entertaining race. I have my first rookie SS & a SK Mod race at Bristol uploaded. https://www.youtube.com/user/Jeffrey9910

Closest I get to recording races is saving the replay when I exit the server.

What are you guys using to record? I could easily do so, I've just never really looked into recording live action as opposed to replays.

When I built my new pc it one of the installations downloaded Plays.tv. So that's what I use. You can use it to either stream to twitch or record videos. But can't do both. So whenever I start iRacing or any game it automatically starts recording. Works pretty well. Maybe something better out there, idk.
