Picked up Luigi's Mansion and chose Super Mario 3D Land as my free download. Between them, Fire Emblem, and SMT: Soul Hackers in April, I'm set until Animal Crossing in June.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Hmm.
With that deal at Target, I may consider getting that Pikachu 3DS XL.--

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I ended up restarting on Normal/Casual, because I couldn't handle certain characters dying; one got killed by an enemy with a 2% critical chance. I have no problem accepting perma-death in something like XCOM, but I guess it's these characters having more personality and the relationships you can forge through pairing them up, that makes it harder to accept.
This game is super addicting and packed with tons of content.
I picked this up with Luigi's Mansion yesterday. Haven't started Fire Emblem, but really enjoying Luigi's Mansion after 1 hour or so.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

So it's better to play it without permadeath? I'm not a hardcore player, won't have the time for that, so seems like permadeath would be pretty annoying.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Thanks! I hate picking the "easier" option, but seems like that just lessens the stress. Maybe if I was 12 and could play games all day I'd be hardcore, but I don't have the time now lolNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Yeah, I would recommend Normal/Casual. The strategy isn't dumbed down and the AI still punishes mistakes. Casual only affects how death is handled. On Casual you just won't be stressing over whether you should restart a battle when a character is killed.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I had a 3ds but got rid of it about a year ago. I have really been wanting a 3DS XL as I'm old and I thought the bigger screen would help my gameplay, not to mention playing Kid Icarus really made my left hand hurt. Saw the new Pokémon edition in a flyer and decided to try and get one. Found that even on release day they were sold out at Target, they had a deal going for $159.99.
I rarely pay full price for anything gaming related anymore and did not want to pay the $199.99 even though Gamestops around me had them in stock still. Started calling around and found one Walmart in the Kansas City area had ONE left in stock.
I took the Target flyer to Walmart and was able to get a price match and was very pleased as I know Gamestop does not do price matching. Oh yeah, picked up Luigi's Mansion too but have not yet played it.
I found that Walmart does NOT call the store with the sale in order to see if that store has it in stock before they will price match. Best Buy does this and was really happy Walmart didn't because all the Targets were sold out.
I know a lot of people bad mouth Walmart, and maybe they deserve it in some areas, but their price matching is second to none!Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Finished the first mansion in Dark Moon. The boss was so fun and I hope the rest involve puzzle elements too.
This game is so charming and Luigi's animations are absolutely amazing. There's so many little presentation details, like Luigi humming along to the theme music. The act of moving and aiming was a little weird at first, but I quickly got used to the controls, and so far, they give you plenty of room for error. Bustin' ghosts is fun and engaging, but the game is more about exploring and solving puzzles. The environments are pretty interactive and what I like most, is there's very little handholding. There's no highlights or colored objects so they stand out, most everything looks organic and like it belongs. When you come across a new ghost type, the game doesn't tell you how to fight it, it wants you to experiment. Dark Moon does a great job of rewarding exploration and experimentation. Can't wait to play more.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Honestly there was a part where I had to go look somewhere else for the path and I didn't think to do that because I figured that was too complicated lol. Figured it out, but you definitely run around a bit solving the puzzle, it's not just follow the obvious path and do what they tell you.
I have the 3D turned off, and I do that on pretty much most games. IMO Nintendo has really minimized the 3D aspect and while games include it, it doesn't seem like it's been crucial to the gameplay.Last edited by mgoblue; 03-26-2013, 11:31 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I use the 3D mostly on low, but it really isn't necessary. I mean not even Nintendo is pushing its main feature anymore. Also, not sure how it is on the OG 3DS, but slight movements with the XL throws the effect off.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

3DS firmware update adds save transfers, streamlines 'download later'
The next time you open up the 3DS eShop, you'll be prompted to update your system hardware, to version 5.0.0-11U. While not a drastic change in the 3DS user experience, this firmware does offer a few tweaks that sound useful.
For example, you won't have to exit the eShop anymore for "Download Later" to work. Just close the 3DS and downloading begins. You can also download game updates in the background. The update also makes the save data transfer tool available, so you can move save data from a packaged version of a game to the eShop version (but not back!) The firmware also makes unnamed "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments."Update: Nintendo of America acknowledged the issue. If an error message prevents you from updating, turn the 3DS off, then turn it back on, while holding the L, R, A, and Up buttons.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
